Chapter 33 Wen Sheng Sees Him Again

The Wen Sheng before me looked exactly the same as when I first met him in the stone chamber; a thousand years had not changed his appearance in the slightest. But his expression now was different from the clear and innocent look in the stone chamber; the Wen Sheng before me had a touch of cunning.

The smiling boy in front of her slowly squatted down to look her in the eye. The distance between them was only a fingertip, and their noses seemed to touch in the blink of an eye.

Their eyes met. Lu Zhaozhao looked at him blankly, feeling as if his eyes were veiled by mist, making her feel as if she were in a water town in southern China.

Perhaps because of the confusion on her face, Wen Sheng burst out laughing, leaned back, and waved her five fingers in front of her.

Lu Zhaozhao immediately realized what was happening, lowered her eyes to hide her emotions, and her long eyelashes cast shadows under her eyes.

The air grew still, and only the sound of two breaths mingling could be heard.

Wen Sheng broke the silence first, extending a hand towards Lu Zhaozhao and opening it in front of her eyes: "My name is Wen Sheng, what's your name?"

“Guan Nan,” Lu Zhaozhao replied, placing her hand on his palm under his gaze.

Wen Sheng looked at the two overlapping hands and smiled even more. With a little force, he pulled Lu Zhaozhao so hard that she was caught off guard.

The face in front of her was magnified infinitely, and this time the distance was even closer than before. Lu Zhaozhao could clearly feel her cheek lightly brushing against Wen Sheng's cheek.

Wen Sheng slowly raised one hand and gently placed it on her, making it look from a distance as if the two were embracing tightly.

This sudden action startled her, and she froze on the spot.

A cheerful voice rang in my ears: "Do you think I'm lying to you? I'm telling you the truth."

The sound was like a feather brushing past her ear. Lu Zhaozhao shuddered and pushed him away forcefully, creating distance between them.

"Wh-what?" Lu Zhaozhao swallowed hard, lowered her eyes to avoid meeting his gaze, and said somewhat awkwardly.

In contrast, Wen Sheng on the other side seemed exceptionally relaxed.

"Guan Nan is not your name."

A boy's distinctive voice rang out in front of him. He paused, then added, "Your eyes tell me you're not telling the truth."

Lu Zhaozhao looked up, and Wen Sheng, who had previously been cheerful, looked at her seriously, as if expecting something.

She blinked, feigning composure: "Guan Nan is my name here."

"And where else?" Wen Sheng continued.

"I don't remember," Lu Zhaozhao replied with a smile. She thought that since she had no memories of the original owner after waking up, she naturally wouldn't remember what the original owner was called. So, she shouldn't be lying.

To everyone's surprise, Wen Sheng put on a serious face and said earnestly, "No, you're not telling the truth."

Now it was Lu Zhaozhao's turn to calm down. She was secretly amazed: Could this person really distinguish between truth and falsehood?

The person opposite her was staring intently at her, making her feel a little uncomfortable. She could only pout and say in a low voice, "Lu Zhaozhao, my name is Lu Zhaozhao."

This time, Wen Sheng didn't refute it.

As soon as she finished speaking, Wen Sheng's eyes lit up, and a bright smile returned to her face, making Lu Zhaozhao wonder if she had said something special.

"Alright, you can rest now. We'll go to the Ming Palace together once you've rested!" Wen Sheng said excitedly, her voice rising involuntarily, her eyes brimming with joy.

But Lu Zhaozhao heard these words differently. "We?" What did that mean? This person had suddenly barged in, forcefully demanding her name, and now wanted to go to the Ming Palace with her?

Her eyes twitched almost imperceptibly, and the bamboo sword shot out with lightning speed, aimed directly at the throat of the person opposite her.

Wen Sheng looked at the person who had just been chatting happily with him and suddenly drew his sword against him, his face full of confusion.

Lu Zhaozhao coldly demanded, "Who exactly are you? How did you get in? What is your purpose in finding me?"

“I am Wen Sheng. I came in through the cave entrance and want to go to the Ming Palace with you,” he replied obediently.

Lu Zhaozhao was absolutely furious, her chest heaving.

This person seemed to have answered everything, but not a single useful word came out.

Her face hardened, and she pressed the sword against her skin.

Crimson blood flowed down her snow-white neck, the extreme contrast of red and white creating an unusually alluring scene.

Wen Sheng seemed to feel no pain, but just looked at Lu Zhaozhao. Seeing the deep doubt in her eyes, she couldn't help but think back to which sentence she had said wrong.

After thinking for a while, he suddenly stood up.

This startled Lu Zhaozhao, and the tip of her sword moved with his movements, never veering away from him.

She saw Wen Sheng walk to the cave entrance, go out, and come back in, but the formation remained unmoved.

Wen Sheng, standing by the cave entrance, innocently said, "I really didn't lie to you, I just walked in."

Lu Zhaozhao could hardly believe it. Still holding her sword, she moved to the cave entrance and checked the array on the ground. It was indeed completely intact.

She looked at the formation, then at Wen Sheng, completely bewildered, unsure of what to say.

Wen Sheng, on the other hand, saw that she was holding a sword and had just stabbed him, yet he showed no sign of distress. He knelt before her, smiling as he looked at her, but remained silent.

Lu Zhaozhao felt a little tired, so she closed her eyes and pretended not to want to deal with the situation at hand.

But you can't hide forever; what's meant to happen will happen, and what's meant to be asked will be asked.

They sat facing each other, and Lu Zhaozhao questioned Wen Sheng for a long time, but there were some things that Wen Sheng himself couldn't explain.

After spending most of the day, all they knew was that Wen Sheng came from Ming Palace City. He had chased after Lu Zhaozhao after seeing her astonishing lightning tribulation, and came in to greet her after seeing her.

Lu Zhaozhao rubbed her temples, looking at the sincere young man in front of her with a sense of helplessness.

He spoke frankly, and it seemed like he wasn't lying, but if someone could hide so convincingly, it was truly beyond her ability to handle.

On second thought, she did indeed need to return to the Ming Palace, and Wen Sheng, having lived in the Ming Palace for a long time, must have a better understanding of the Ming Palace and even the eight major clans.

Looking up and meeting Wen Sheng's gaze, Lu Zhaozhao said, "In that case, let's travel together."
