Chapter 34 Luwu Lanshan

"Zhaozhao, why have you come to the Ming Palace?"

"In order to become the Demon Lord's personal guard."

"And what happens after becoming the Demon Lord's personal guard?"

"Glorify the Nüba Clan".

“But the Nüba clan already holds a prominent position, so you didn’t need to participate in the selection.”

"Shut up, you're asking too many questions!"

"Oh. So why do you insist on participating in the selection?"

...

Lu Zhaozhao sighed, thinking that she needed to be more careful about choosing a partner next time. Wen Sheng looked so quiet, but who knew he had such a personality inside? His mouth hadn't stopped moving the whole way.

At first, Lu Zhaozhao could easily handle some of the problems, but his questions came one after another, and even his ramblings couldn't keep up with the pace.

Moreover, Wen Sheng is now a member of the Demon Clan, so he must know more than she does. If she accidentally reveals something, she might bring trouble upon herself.

Thinking of this, Lu Zhaozhao was unwilling to answer anymore. Seeing her displeased expression, Wen Sheng stopped asking and began to talk about the fun things in Ming Palace.

Lu Zhaozhao was happy to see this happen and chatted with him casually.

A journey with companions is always easier than a solo one. After chatting for a while, the gates of Ming Palace City came into view.

Only now did a relaxed smile appear on Lu Zhaozhao's face. After not seeing them for so many days, she still missed Thirteen Sister and Tu San.

Just as she was about to join the queue to enter the city, an ominous premonition made her stop in her tracks.

She sent a wisp of her primordial spirit out to investigate, but after looking around, she didn't see anything strange. However, her more than a year of living outdoors in the dense forest had honed her extremely keen senses.

She was alone, yet a strange sense of unease crept into her heart. Though there was no concrete evidence, she trusted her intuition.

Wen Sheng was walking forward excitedly when she realized that Lu Zhaozhao didn't seem to be following, so she turned around to check.

Lu Zhaozhao summoned the bamboo sword that had once rested on his neck again, looking around nervously, as if he was on guard against something.

He was about to speak when Lu Zhaozhao dodged away with a swift movement, her speed so fast that her figure left an afterimage.

The next second after she dodged, a large crater was punched into the ground where she had just been standing.

Dust flew everywhere.

The western border was already desolate, and at this moment the air was filled with yellow sand that seemed to seep into one's nostrils.

Lu Zhaozhao glanced at the large pit not far in front of her, then looked around. There was still no one there. She couldn't help but sneer, "Since you've already made your move, why hide? Are you ashamed to be seen?"

"This is the first time I've heard someone from the Nuwa tribe say something like this. It's really interesting. Does wearing a mask give you so much confidence?"

A soft, feminine voice came from behind the yellow sand, and a figure slowly approached Lu Zhaozhao from afar.

The yellow sand filled the sky, and visibility was extremely low. Lu Zhaozhao could not see the person clearly until they were right in front of her.

The person opposite was wearing a tiger-fur cloak, on which a strange beast was embroidered with gold thread. It had the body of a tiger and nine tails.

His face was as fair as a woman's, his thin lips were slightly pursed, and there were faint demonic lines on his cheeks.

He looked at Lu Zhaozhao, nodded politely, and said, "My name is Changyu Lanshan. I apologize for my rudeness at our first meeting. May I ask how you should address me, young lady?"

Upon hearing his words, Lu Zhaozhao glanced at the large pit not far away and burst out laughing.

She looked up at Changyu Lanshan and smiled enigmatically: "Lu Wu's people?"

Changyu Lanshan remained noncommittal.

Lu Zhaozhao ignored him and tried to walk past him.

A long arm blocked her path.

Lu Zhaozhao looked at him unhappily, but Changyu Lanshan looked completely at ease: "It's just making friends, there's no need to be so dismissive."

After saying that, he smiled at her.

Lu Zhaozhao looked at him expressionlessly, and seeing that he still had no intention of giving up, she was somewhat displeased.

He slapped away the hand blocking his way and was about to continue walking.

Changyu Lanshan's expression froze for a moment, and he didn't react immediately.

It wasn't until Lu Zhaozhao had taken a few steps that he came to his senses. He frowned, his gaze was deep, and his gloomy expression ruined his previous feigned kindness, which actually suited his effeminate face better.

An attack shot out from her sleeve, aimed directly at the back of Lu Zhaozhao's head.

"bump--"

The bamboo sword flashed with a cold light, and with a wide, sweeping motion, it severed the attack in front of him.

Lu Zhaozhao was somewhat speechless. She twirled her sword and pointed it at Changyu Lanshan, her tone unconsciously carrying a hint of threat: "In recent years, I've heard that the Luwu clan has been constantly expanding outwards. Commander Changyu is second only to the emperor in Minggong City. I heard he's your brother, right? What, do you have some kind of problem with my Nuwa clan? Or do you want to start a war like your brother did?"

Towards the end, the tone became somewhat provocative.

The eight major clans have always been ambitious. In this generation, the Luwu clan produced a young man named Changyu Languan, who succeeded to the position of commander at a young age and led the Luwu clan to conquer cities and territories.

However, the tribes he conquered were only minor ones. Although the strength of the eight major tribes varied, the difference between them was not significant. Not to mention that the Nuwa tribe possessed strength no less than that of the eight major tribes, which even Changyu Languan dared not and was unwilling to easily offend.

Lu Zhaozhao's sarcastic remarks were intended to make Changyu Lanshan back down.

But Changyu Lanshan clearly didn't think that way. He and Changyu Languan were brothers, but the demon race always admired the strong, and Changyu Languan was an outstanding figure among the younger generation. Therefore, he had been constantly compared to others since birth, and the more he was compared, the greater the gap became, and the more unbalanced he felt.

He thought: Changyu Languan only gained an early advantage and had some good luck in breaking through one after another. If he had that kind of luck, he might not be worse than Changyu Languan.

This thought grew deeper in his mind with age. Constantly comparing himself to his brother, whom he had barely met, he grew increasingly resentful, even refusing to address him as "brother" unless in public. Yet, Lu Zhaozhao stabbed him with the Longyu Languan sword right before his eyes. Always bloodthirsty and cruel, at this moment, the emotions buried deep within him surged, overriding the interests of both clans; only one thought remained in his mind.

Kill this person in front of you!

With its five fingers curled up, a tiger's paw appeared in the air, and its sharp claws attacked Lu Zhaozhao's crown.

Lu Zhaozhao was a little confused. How could the person in front of her, who was so calm just a second ago, suddenly go crazy?

But the attack was already upon her, and she had no choice but to parry it with her sword.

Just as the two were about to clash, a third attack appeared from behind Lu Zhaozhao.

It moved with incredible speed, passing right past her cheek, whipping her hair into the air, and slamming hard into Changyu Lanshan.

The long fish Lanshan, which had gathered all its strength, was sent flying by this light blow.

He collapsed to the ground, spitting out blood. Somewhat surprised, he looked past Lu Zhaozhao and at the man in blue behind her, whom she had been ignoring.

"Who are you?!" he roared, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

Lu Zhaozhao turned around in surprise. Wen Sheng's attack just now was definitely no less powerful than hers. She suddenly remembered that since they met, she seemed to have been blinded by Wen Sheng's unique aura and lowered her guard, so much so that she still didn't know his true strength.

Wen Sheng's arrival startled Chang Yu Lanshan.

But he stopped when he reached Lu Zhaozhao's side.

"Are we going into town today?" he asked softly.

“Go in!” Lu Zhaozhao replied.

"Okay, let's go then."

"Um."

The two turned around at the same time and walked towards the city gate, completely ignoring Changyu Lanshan who was still on the ground.
