Yan Funing said, "Pork ribs are cheap, eat them if you want. I'll go to town to buy some tomorrow."
After a pause, she continued, "The harvested crops in the fields need to be cleared away and replanted when spring comes. I'm thinking about buying some clothes."
Fu Nanyao put down the soup bowl and pursed her lips: "Bring me a few sets."
This will save you from being pointed at when you go back to the river to wash clothes.
Wan Niang nodded. "We should all change into plain clothes. After all, we live in the countryside, and our old clothes are no longer appropriate. Fu Ning, it will cost a lot of money to buy clothes for the whole family. You can pawn my jewelry."
As he said this, he was about to take the earring off his earlobe.
Yan Funing stopped her and said, "Mother, my husband and I have earned enough money to buy it."
Hearing the word "husband" again, Fu Ciyi frowned.
--
In the afternoon, Yan Funing tied the arm loops that she had tied to facilitate work back on her arms.
I took the backpack from the woodshed and passed by the door of the west wing when someone called me.
"Where are you going?"
Yan Funing stopped and said, "I'm going to get some mountain products so I can sell them in town tomorrow."
Fu Ciyi put down his pen, closed the book, stood up and left the house, then walked out of the yard.
Yan Funing was stunned by what she saw.
She quickly caught up with him: "You don't want to go with me?"
He didn't answer.
She then asked, "Do you want to thank me for doing your laundry?"
"I'll go see if there are any pheasants or rabbits."
"Oh, then we'll be good companions."
Her words made Fu Ciyi pause.
Yan Funing asked him, "What did I say wrong?"
Fu Ciyi said calmly: "No."
Haven't they been keeping each other company for the past two years?
Seeing that he finally spoke, Yan Funing became much less reserved and said a lot along the way.
"Your handwriting is truly excellent. The bookstore owner would certainly pay a high price for copying books in such fine handwriting. But if you keep copying books like this, how long will it take you to buy all the books you need for the imperial examination? If you miss out on studying for the exam, what will you do?"
Fu Ciyi said with rare patience: "The book I copied is for the imperial examination. I can remember it deeply after copying it once."
Yan Funing took two quick steps and stood opposite him, praising him with a smile: "You are really smart. This way you can make money and do your homework at the same time, killing two birds with one stone."
Fu Ciyi did not accept her compliment, took a step to the side and passed her.
Yan Funing chased after him and said, "Next time, buy some blank books. For every book you copy for the imperial examination, copy an extra one. That way, you will have all the books."
He said calmly, "There are too many books for the imperial examination. This is not a good idea. We still have to buy books with more words."
Yan Funing calculated in her mind: he needed money to prepare for the imperial examination, and she needed money to make silver needle instruments...
You still have to make money and save it.
If she could make money with her medical skills and open a conscientious clinic, her life would be much better.
After thinking about it this way, he slowed down his pace a lot.
Seeing someone walking in front, she trotted after him and grabbed his sleeve.
"Fu Ciyi, can you teach me how to read? I learn quickly and I promise I won't embarrass you!"
"Whatever you want to eat, I'll make it for you."
"I'll wash your clothes for you."
"Whatever you need, I can satisfy it, and I will definitely satisfy you!"
Fu Ciyi lowered his eyes and looked at the little hand pulling his sleeve as soon as he heard his request.
What does he need?
The imperial examination was his own business. How could a woman like her satisfy him?
Suddenly he thought of something, his handsome face darkened, and he coughed a few times, but couldn't stop.
Seeing this, Yan Funing patted his back and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Why did I choke for no reason?
"Nothing." Fu Ciyi raised his hand and calmly stopped her from patting his back.
When he finally stopped coughing, she asked again, "Can you teach me?"
Her voice was soft, her eyes flickered with light, and she had a smile at the corners of her eyes.
As if he really wants to learn.
The man pondered for a while, then uttered two words through his cool lips: "Let's discuss it later."
Finally, it wasn't a direct rejection.
"Okay!" Yan Funing agreed happily.
The two went into the mountains.
Yan Funing first went to the fallen dead tree to pick wild oyster mushrooms.
Fu Ciyi went to the place where he used to catch pheasants and rabbits, but found no trace of them.
He came back to meet her, said goodbye to her, and prepared to go deeper into the mountains.
"I'm going too." Yan Funing patted the dust off her hands.
"Go further in, there are wild animals."
"But the basket is already full of oyster mushrooms, and I'm getting bored waiting here. Besides, it's daytime now, so there shouldn't be many wild animals around."
"what ever."
The two walked side by side, with a distance of three or four steps between them.
The sunlight shines through the treetops, casting tiny, mottled lights on the ground.
The fallen leaves under my feet made a rustling sound.
Occasionally there were a few distant chirping sounds of something unknown, so distant that they were indistinct.
Fu Ciyi walked quickly in the direction of the sound, and Yan Funing hurriedly followed.
A quarter of an hour later, the sounds became clearer and clearer, and they finally saw a few pheasants.
Only then did Yan Funing realize that the chirping sound just now came from a pheasant.
However, there was a canyon between where they were standing and where the pheasants were.
The canyon is about ten feet wide and is impossible to get through.
The pheasants flapped their wings, as if mocking them for being unable to do anything about them.
Yan Funing picked up a small stone on the ground and threw it over.
Perhaps she was too weak, and the pebble was only thrown two or three feet away before falling into the canyon.
Fu Ciyi looked at her childish behavior and said calmly, "You can't catch it today, let's go back."
"Isn't that infuriating? I scared them like that, but they just stared at me with their necks tilted back."
