With a cry of pain, the horse took off galloping forward.
Li Feng couldn't take it. He was thrown out of the car and slammed into a tree trunk, immediately losing consciousness.
Meanwhile, inside the car, Lu Xiaoyun held the things Li Feng had just given her in one hand and hugged Zhu Yu with the other, spreading her long legs to firmly protect the two of them inside the car.
The car shook violently. Lu Xiaoyun pulled on the line below the object, and with a loud bang, a beam of colorful light flew out from the roof that had just been smashed by the low table. In the blink of an eye, a loud bang exploded in the sky.
Holy crap, I didn't expect this to be a signal flare!
But Zhu Yu has been staying at Feixue Garden the whole time, so where did he get a signal flare from?!
Upon seeing the hundreds of men in black sending out the signal, they were startled. They were confident in dealing with the few dozen men in front of them, but they were not confident in dealing with the secret guards or reinforcements that Zhu Yu had summoned.
The leader shouted, "Retreat!"
The men in black surged backward like a tide.
Feng Yan pursed his lips tightly. He already had several cuts on his body. He leaped forward and chased after the leader.
Meanwhile, the horse that had been shot in the rear ran wildly and couldn't stop at all.
Lu Xiaoyun couldn't ride a horse, let alone drive a carriage, so she could only hold Zhu Yu in her arms and shout, "Feng Yan, come back! Don't pursue a cornered enemy! Come back!"
Unfortunately, Feng Yan, who had chased after them for several feet, was so focused on catching up with the assassins that he didn't hear them at all.
Lu Xiaoyun was on the verge of tears. Feng Yan didn't know that their "Prince An" had long since been replaced by a different soul, had no martial arts skills, and was no match for the crazed horse.
Just a few days ago, she ordered Feng Yan to find the murderer on their wedding day as soon as possible, so how could he let them escape today?
Lu Xiaoyun, inside the carriage, was dazed and seeing stars after the impact.
But she never let go of Zhu Yu's hand.
There was nothing they could do; their lives were intertwined.
After hitting the tree trunk countless times, the broken-down car could no longer withstand the force and crashed to pieces.
The horse bled to death and collapsed.
Lu Xiaoyun was dizzy and rolled around on the ground several times while holding Zhu Yu. Several sharp pieces of wood pierced her body, and blood gushed out. She grimaced in pain.
"Zhu Yu, I owe you!" Lu Xiaoyun said fiercely, hugging Zhu Yu and forcefully standing up.
It had been snowing for the past two days, making the ground extremely slippery. Coupled with the dizziness from the impact, Lu Xiaoyun lost her footing. She was holding Zhu Yu in her arms and was standing on a steep slope when she lost her footing and fell backward. The two of them rolled down the almost vertical slope together.
The world spun around her, and countless sharp rocks on the steep slope cut her in several more gashes.
Before Lu Xiaoyun fainted while holding Zhu Yu, she only saw a young man dressed in coarse linen clothes and carrying a bamboo basket running towards them.
She just felt he looked familiar.
Then her eyes rolled back and she fainted.
With a loosening of his grip, Zhu Yu rolled forward several more feet until he crashed into a tree and came to a stop.
The man with the bamboo basket rushed over, and when he saw the woman's face clearly, he was startled. His expression changed, and he said urgently, "Damn it, is that you, sister? Sister, what are you doing here? Lu Xiaoyun, wake up, wake up!"
After the signal flare was fired, hundreds of guards from the Prince's Palace rushed over and quickly surrounded the black-clad assassin who was trying to escape.
Although the number of black-clad assassins was several times that of the Prince An's secret guards, they were well aware of the gap between their strength and that of the Prince An's secret guards, and each of them showed a look of fear.
Feng Yan pointed his blood-stained blade at the leader of the men in black, his eyes icy cold, and ordered his guards in a chilling voice: "Except for this man, kill the rest without hesitation!"
The guards responded in unison, raised their swords, and charged at the man in black's neck.
They only sought to kill quickly and accurately, so they moved extremely fast, and the men in black couldn't keep up at all, falling down in droves.
The air was thick with the stench of blood.
The leader of the men in black was extremely unwilling. He drew his sword and charged at Feng Yan, thinking that even if he only injured him a little, it would be a gain.
Feng Yan stood there motionless, his face cold and hard, after snapping the neck of the black-clad man who was stabbing at him. His eyes were icy as he stared at the leader of the black-clad men who was rushing towards him.
A blood-dripping knife lay beside him, its blood dripping and soon seeping into the soil.
The leader of the men in black, swords in both hands, a ferocious look on his face, swung them down at Feng Yan's head.
Without even moving his body, Feng Yan sprinted to the front of him and kicked the black-clad leader hard in the chest, sending him flying backward.
At the same time, it kicked away the poison he had hidden in his teeth.
The leader of the men in black coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground. He was barely alive and had no strength left to get up.
Feng Yan suddenly spun around, sweeping the other two men in black who were attacking him from the left and right to the ground. At the same time, he raised his knife and slashed at their necks.
Blood splattered in the air like rain.
The fight turned into a one-sided massacre of the black-clad assassins by the Prince An's secret guards.
In less than half an hour, all the hundreds of men in black except for the leader in black had their throats slit.
Feng Yan tossed him onto the horse's back and ordered the guards in a deep voice, "Hide!"
The guards who were just killing people vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving only Feng Yan and the dozen or so guards from the royal palace he brought with him.
The group headed towards the Prince An's residence.
A guard beside Feng Yan asked, "Where are Master and the Princess?"
Someone replied, "They should have already returned to Prince An's residence. The princess fainted, so the prince probably took his men back to the residence first to have Physician Jiang treat her."
