Chapter 219 The Brilliantly Talented but Sickly Child (5)

When Li Yunyan said she wasn't good at chess, she wasn't joking.

That was truly awful!

Sang Shijing let her play black first, and she managed to create a huge pitfall for herself.

The system prompted her in her mind at the right moment whether she wanted to exchange for the chess skill. Li Yunyan refused.

She doesn't necessarily want to win; she just wants to spend more time with Sang Shijing!

Sang Shijing kept suppressing her laughter.

He had to give in to her, but not too obviously, and he also had to endure her unexpected moves time and time again, which was really hard to handle.

Even Dong Yan, who was attending to him, frowned upon seeing this and couldn't help but say, "Doctor Li, perhaps you shouldn't administer it?"

Who knew Doctor Li was such a terrible chess player? His chess skills are awful... I hope he doesn't upset his young master too much!

Li Yunyan, unconvinced, stared at Sang Shijing and asked, "Was my play really that bad?"

Sang Shijing's fingers, which were holding the chess piece, paused slightly. A faint smile played on his lips as he carefully chose his words: "Doctor Li's chess moves are unpredictable and fraught with danger, forcing me to be on my guard and give it my all!"

Dong Yan chuckled, but after being subtly glanced at by Sang Shijing, he managed to suppress it. However, the effort of holding it in caused his body to tremble slightly.

"Fine!" Li Yunyan put down the chess piece, glared at Dong Yan, then poked Sang Shijing's arm with a finger, pouting, "Are you guys making fun of me?"

"No!" Sang Shijing quickly denied, but the upturned corners of his mouth betrayed his good mood.

"Hmph! You're just making fun of me!"

Li Yunyan smiled, raised her hand to turn the chessboard around, her eyes sparkling. "From now on, you play black, and I'll play white!"

Sang Shijing sighed, "Doctor Li, please spare me! Such a profound strategy is simply beyond my grasp!"

"You're making fun of me again!"

Li Yunyan wouldn't have it, so she stood up and poked his arm. She used a light touch, but Sang Shijing felt a ticklish sensation all over his body and let out a pleasant laugh.

When Jiang came upstairs, she saw this heartbreaking scene.

Her son, with a smile on his face, looked down at the woman who was making a fuss about him. The melancholy in his eyes was gone, replaced by an obvious vitality.

Even though his body was still thin and his face was still pale, Jiang was certain that her Jing'er would survive this time!

Tears welled up in her eyes, and it wasn't until Dong Yan bowed to her that Sang Shijing and Li Yunyan noticed her arrival.

"Mother."

"lady."

Jiang wiped away her tears, walked over with a smile, and looked at the chessboard that hadn't been seen for a long time. A look of relief flashed in her eyes. "Are you playing chess?"

Sang Shijing looked at the chessboard, his smile deepening. "Yes, my son is playing chess with Doctor Li."

Feeling embarrassed to add another person to make fun of her, Li Yunyan took Jiang's hand and walked aside to report on Sang Shijing's situation.

With one hand still behind his back, Chao Sang Shijing quickly waved it.

Sang Shijing smiled and with a single glance, Dong Yan removed the chessboard.

When the two returned, freshly brewed tea and two plates of delicate pastries were already served on the table.

Jiang was deeply moved after hearing Li Yunyan's words. She had just wiped away her tears, and her eyes were still slightly moist.

She saw these things on the table. Jing'er can't eat any of them now, and they weren't prepared when she came before... These must have been prepared especially for Doctor Li!

I never imagined my son could be so thoughtful!

Jiang felt a pang of sadness again, and her gaze toward Li Yunyan became even more amiable.

Sang Shijing sipped warm water from his teacup and looked at Madam Jiang, saying, "Mother, Doctor Li has been at our home for some time now. I was thinking, could we take her out for a walk and show her some hospitality?"

Jiang nodded. Her son's health did indeed seem to have improved significantly! He could speak such a long passage without panting heavily like before!

She said gently, "That's exactly what I was thinking! Yan'er, it's my good friend's birthday in a few days. There are no other women in the Sang family, so I usually go alone. Would you like to come with me this year?"

Li Yunyan glanced at Madam Jiang, then at Sang Shijing. Seeing the encouragement in the latter's eyes, she nodded.

"If Madam doesn't find it too much trouble, Yunyan is willing to go with you!"

Jiang laughed and said, "How could it be troublesome? I'm overjoyed!"

She held Li Yunyan's hand with a loving expression, "Yan'er, don't worry, come with me. My sister is a very nice person. She has a daughter who is about your age. Maybe you two can even become friends!"

Li Yunyan doesn't need friends, but she needs to go out and find opportunities to get close to the Li family.

Jiang stayed there until evening before returning home. Not long after she left, a maid brought several sets of clothes and jewelry, saying that Li Yunyan could wear them as she pleased.

Looking at the gorgeous dresses and exquisite jewelry, Li Yunyan felt delighted. It seemed that Madam Jiang truly favored her; the fabrics and craftsmanship of these clothes and jewelry were of the finest quality, comparable to royal tributes!

Two days before attending the banquet, Taikang Pavilion welcomed a guest.

When Li Yunyan saw the person who came, her eyes flickered.

She never expected that Sang Shijing's good friend was actually the original owner's biological second brother, Li Congyou!

Li's mother had four children. The first three were sons, named Li Congzuo, Li Congyou, and Li Congzhong, and the only daughter was named Li Mingzhu.
