Chapter 206 Landing on the Surface

Silent anger.

Jiangcheng can feel it.

He seemed to have overcome many obstacles, and he stared at the creatures on the giant ship in the sky, whose lower bodies were covered with tentacles that looked like jellyfish tentacles.

He sensed a palpable hostility emanating from the solemn atmosphere.

The jellyfish monsters were arranged in neat rows, completely still, with only their antennae constantly swaying, so fine that it gave one goosebumps.

Is the interplay of defense and counterattack, the struggle between humanity and invaders, about to end at this moment?

Jiang Cheng was unaware of this; he only saw the giant ship rising higher and higher, gradually moving out of the range that the space station and plasma cannons could attack.

"They're trying to escape?"

Chen Ang voiced his doubts.

"Not necessarily. We can't just let it go after causing them such heavy casualties."

"What are they going to do?"

Chen Ang's question was also everyone's question. Unfortunately, no one could fathom the thoughts of these invasive creatures. Their behavior was as enigmatic as their slimy appearance.

Under their gaze, the giant ship gradually became less enormous, its shape becoming increasingly indistinct, until it finally became a small, barely visible cube, as tiny as a paper boat placed on a child's boat soaring in the sky.

It is almost out of Earth's atmosphere and is in an absolutely safe position.

Just when everyone thought it was really going to leave and that humanity had won the battle,

Something unexpected happened suddenly.

The "paper boats" paused briefly in the air, their lower bodies exposed, the massive sterns of the ships slowly... slowly opening to the sides, as if opening a strange and unpredictable door—a door that leads directly to the future and the present, a gift from Satan.

Tali looked nervous; he didn't understand what the intruders were up to.

In the scene, a door opens at the back of the giant ship, and everything inside is shrouded in shadow, making it difficult to see clearly. Light shines from inside, illuminating the silver walls and constantly refracting, making the emptiness and haziness inside increasingly clear.

Several jellyfish monsters emerged from within, floating in the sea of the sky, hovering above the heads of all living beings.

It seemed as if they were kneeling in worship, as if they were praying, to summon the true gods from the far reaches of the universe, to intimidate the ignorant and foolish carbon-based beings, and to let them know where their profound fears came from.

They do not wear magnificent attire, nor do they sing songs that echo through the heavens; they simply remain silent. With their purest, unblemished bodies, with their outer membranes reflecting the lush greenery of clouds and planets, they demonstrate their piety.

Ancient and mysterious, from the past to the future, every prayer to the gods. The silent prayers of the ancient Egyptians lying in the scorching sun amidst the endless yellow sand, the sages of Athens standing on the podium shouting for freedom, the wise men traveling the world in three horses and four chariots, and the silent prayers that the jellyfish monster in Jiangcheng can feel.

The colossal ship rose into the air, leaving the praying beings behind, and disappeared into the sky with a magnificent trail of flames.

Were these things abandoned by their own kind?

The tentacle-covered creature descended extremely slowly, surrounded by everything around it: countless space stations standing and watching, and churning clouds.

Everything is irrelevant to them.

They need to fall to the ground.

"Don't let that thing succeed! Where are the cannons on the space station? Fire them down!"

At Tali's command, the people on these space stations finally came to their senses, hurriedly responded, and then adjusted the gun barrels located on the sides.

These cannon barrels extend from the fitted sides, and a massive robotic arm lifts them up, aiming them at the target.

"Tap tap! Tap tap tap!"

Gunfire was incessant, raining down on the target with such ferocity that no creature could escape it.

Even the most powerful things can be riddled with holes.

However, something bizarre happened the next moment, which was witnessed by humans, and the people on the space station were instantly shocked.

The bullet was just inches away from the mutated creature, about to pierce its body and penetrate that disgusting-looking membrane, when suddenly the swift bullet lost its power, as if it had sunk into a quagmire.

As the people on the space station saw the sparks and frowned, wondering what was going on, the sealed glass in front of them was suddenly pierced. Bang, bang, bang, like hail hitting a car window, the sound of bullets hitting the hard outer wall was incessant!

"What happened? What's going on?"

"have no idea!"

Something is attacking us!

"No...no! These are bullets we just fired."

"How is this possible?"

Countless rounds fired from the space station's guns, upon contact with the creatures, abruptly returned, bearing the same firepower, and swiftly attacked the space station's outer walls.

The pilot of a certain space station was completely bewildered. After a brief period of mental blankness, an indescribable fear rose in his heart, a chill ran down his spine, and his whole body trembled.

"Cease fire! Cease fire immediately!" it roared over the shared radio.

"The space station's outer walls are filled with explosives! If we fire any more, we'll all die!"

However, he spoke a second too late.

Outside space station 144, the bullet embedded itself hard in the alloy, leaving a dent. Countless other bullets that had just been fired came raining down, penetrating the dent even further... an inch deeper!

"Bang!"

Flames shot into the sky, instantly shattering the inner walls. The floor and the walls on both sides were compressed, like a wad of paper violently contracting, and then could no longer protect people.

How could soft flesh and blood withstand such an explosion? In an instant, it was torn to shreds, blood splattered, and evaporated into the air!

The shockwave from the explosion caused the crew members in the nearby space station to lose their footing and fall to the ground. The ringing in their ears caused them to lose their hearing, and all they could see was a dazzling ball of fire blooming, burning ever brighter.

"Space station report! What caused the explosion? What exactly happened?!"

"I'll repeat myself, can anyone tell me why the explosion happened?!"

"Commander... Our target seems to be able to deflect bullets. Unit 144 fired its own bullet, igniting the explosives inside the wall... They've been killed."

"How is this possible?"

Tali uttered those words in a daze, so shocked that he was speechless for a long time.

There were clearly some clever people at the top of the line; after the attack stopped, no further explosions occurred.

But they could only watch helplessly as the "mirror" creature fell and descended towards the ground.

Jiang Cheng suddenly stood up from his chair. "Everyone, stop attacking! This is just like the situation with H-012. They can use an external membrane to create an independent space, and any attack or spying will be ineffective!"
