Chapter 305 Turning Point in the War: Pilot Wounded

Axe-wielder tilted his head in disbelief, his gaze fixed on the sword that had pierced his shoulder. The War Maiden gripped it with both hands, still straining, and a cold mist emanated from her palms and from the wound on her shoulder.

How strange, why can't I feel any pain...? There's only a chill that penetrates to the bone marrow. It feels like the flesh from my neck down to my arms and chest is frozen. I try to break free but can't. I'm starting to shiver... The frost is still condensing and is about to spread to my face.

"Why should I be killed?" the axe-wielder thought to himself.

A flurry of emotions flashed across its cloudy yellow eyes—confusion, pain, even a hint of annoyance—but no fear of impending death. It turned its gaze to the War Maiden, from an angle that required looking up. This angle brought back painful memories: the days on its original planet when it was bullied by the giant, a scene strikingly similar to this one. While enduring harm, the axe-wielder had to look up with pitiful humility. For it, looking up always felt like begging. At that moment, a surge of ruthlessness arose within it, and it swung its neck, severing the giant's head. The heavy head rolled on the ground with a thud, and now it could finally look down at its opponent.

The humans in the distance were annoyed, as was the tough guy they were fighting. They were cunning and meticulous, never missing an opportunity, and had figured out most of what the other creature relied on.

The axe-wielding creature lowered its head and glanced at the ice surface again, like a fish longing to return to its pond. When it raised its eyes again, that fierce look reappeared.

The humans inside the defensive line watched this scene with tense expressions, including Luo Xiaoli. She hoped the invading creature's body would slowly collapse, but its vitality was incredibly tenacious. Despite enduring so much damage, it remained standing firmly, fighting like a cornered beast, its eyes blazing with even more frenzied emotions. At this moment, Jiang Cheng felt an ominous feeling deep in his heart, but the battlefield was ever-changing, and things happened in the blink of an eye.

The axe, which had been relentlessly attacked and forced into retreat, suddenly gained immense power. It swayed its body like a killer whale swinging its tail, snapping the ice blade embedded in its shoulder. The force was so great that the battle maiden holding the blade tilted to one side.

The axe-wielder kicked the battle maiden, sending her flying backward and clearing a suitable position. Without pausing, she ran straight back, puzzling those within the defensive line. This dimension is so vast, where else could she possibly go? Back underground? That's not a good choice; humanity would gladly oblige, trapping her like a turtle in a jar.

Unexpectedly, the axe headed straight for an iceberg, whose surface was still covered with gray snow, had no insect eggs, and was extremely far away.

The Valkyrie immediately reacted, re-condensing her ice blades, and, propelled by her engine, began the pursuit.

However, this thing was moving too fast, and with the help of inertia, it quickly reached the bottom of the iceberg.

Without even glancing back at its pursuing enemies, it used the edge of its palm to form an axe, firmly embedding it in the top, and began to climb upwards, reaching the very top in just a few seconds.

Luo Xiaoli watched these actions, completely baffled as to what the enemy was trying to do, but a voice in her heart told her that she must not let them succeed.

But this sudden, unprepared move was far too fast. The axe-wielding creature, after climbing the iceberg, leaped into the high sky, abruptly halting in mid-air, stretching its body, ignoring its torn wounds. A dark, semi-circular shape abruptly emerged from its mouth, continuing to emanate until a complete black sphere was revealed. The axe-wielding creature fell, but the sphere remained suspended in the air, like a small sun shrouded in darkness, hanging in the twilight.

Jiang Cheng's intuition told him that this sphere was extremely dangerous. He stared intently at the black sphere with sharp eyes. This was a substance he had never seen before, not a product of Earth's civilization, and very likely related to extraterrestrial life.

In this short moment.

No one knew that, besides Jiang Cheng's gaze, another woman's eyes were fixed on the sphere. Those beautiful eyes held a look of horror; she seemed to know what it was and where it came from.

"We must evacuate immediately! Boss! We can't afford to waste a single second!" Gu Qingwan grabbed Jiang Cheng's arm urgently, uttering these startling words.

Jiang Cheng turned around and saw that his usually calm and composed assistant had a worried expression on his face. He frowned and asked, "Why?"

Once the Federation issues a withdrawal order, almost all the efforts made from the beginning will be in vain. The severely damaged Axehead will have time to recuperate, and it might even continue its unfinished recovery, which would be extremely unfavorable for humanity. Moreover, war is not decided by one person. A decision-making error will affect the entire legion. Therefore, the commander must carefully consider the order countless times before issuing it, and cannot change his mind based on a single word from an assistant.

Jiang Cheng was unaware that those few seconds of hesitation would cost the Federation an extremely heavy price.

Tali, who was standing to the side, noticed what Gu Qingwan said and turned around, giving her a cold glance.

"I've observed some extremely unstable substance inside the black sphere; it's very likely to explode soon!"

Explosions? How many explosions have there been in the Death Dimension so far? Countless intermediate-range missiles alone have caused such an explosion.

Jiang Cheng still didn't give the order, but he took Gu Qingwan's words to heart and immediately used the brain-like system to notify Luo Xiaoli to retreat a bit and stop controlling the battle maiden to pursue.

After a slight pause, Luo Xiaoli walked towards the humans, but her eyes remained fixed on the axe's movements.
