Its body was covered in wounds, its grayish-brown skin gleaming with a prominent white gash on its shoulder. A large hole oozed blood from its left abdomen, which dripped onto the grayish-white snow. Its chest heaved as it gasped for breath.
The axe-wielder spat out green liquid from its mouth, which shot towards the sphere in the twilight sky like arrows. The crowd watched the liquid arrive almost as it was swallowed by the sphere.
Gu Qingwan's clear voice rang in Jiang Cheng's ears again, "Leave this dimension quickly, or it will be too late!"
Meanwhile, apart from that crisp sound, nothing else could be heard in the Death Dimension. Everyone was drawn to the sphere; it seemed to possess a strange, magical power.
After being attacked by "arrows," it remained unchanged, only for a moment...
An aura of destruction swept across the heavens and earth!
A pure white beam of light burst forth from the black sphere, shooting out in all directions towards the sky and the ground with terrifying power that was breathtaking. In an instant, everyone's face was filled with profound horror! The light first struck the icy surface, blasting out a gigantic, bottomless crater! Another beam of scorching white light flew towards the Federation's silver-white shield defense line. The soldiers protecting the commander instinctively raised their shields to block, but an utterly shocking scene unfolded! The instant the light touched the matter, it was practically melting; no fragments were visible, and the soldiers and their sturdy shields were reduced to ashes, scattering in all directions. The four soldiers holding the shields vanished as if evaporated into thin air, leaving behind a deep crater. An aura of extreme destruction swept across the land, and anyone caught in the aftershocks was instantly blasted into a cloud of blood mist.
The Federation's humans were instantly stunned. Amid the explosion, no one could be heard shouting; human voices were so faint as to be negligible. But they could clearly see Tali roaring, and his lips were moving as he shouted for evacuation.
The silver-shield heavy armor soldiers and others desperately protected their commander, running towards the membrane behind the defensive line. They couldn't care about anything else now; the armored vehicles and the supplies they were transporting were all abandoned on the spot. What was most horrifying was that a beam of light swept across the medium-range missile, and a mushroom cloud instantly rose from the ground. The people around were reduced to ashes in the air, leaving not even a corpse behind.
Jiang Cheng's mind went blank.
He was being pulled back by Gu Qingwan and several soldiers, just inches away from the membrane, but he kept looking back, his eyes searching for something in the scene where pure white light pierced through the entire gray world.
Jiang Cheng was searching for Zhan Ji, searching for Luo Xiaoli. He had never been so panicked as he was at this moment. There was no time for sadness, only immense fear magnifying in his pupils.
"Where is the War Maiden! Where is the War Maiden?!" Jiang Cheng shouted, pushing the soldier next to him.
However, his voice was completely drowned out by the explosion, and the soldiers around him were probably deaf as well, frantically carrying him backward.
No one could have predicted the abrupt turning point in this war.
A sense of fear filled Jiang Cheng's heart. Never in his life had he longed to see the War Maiden as much as he did now... so that he could ensure Luo Xiaoli's escape.
In his panic, he even forgot to communicate with the brain-like system to confirm Luo Xiaoli's situation.
Just as he was about to be pulled out of the dimension of death, he saw a massive figure emerge from the black smoke of the explosion. Engines propelled the War Maiden away like an arrow. This image magnified in Jiang Cheng's eyes until it filled his entire pupils, and his eyes suddenly reddened. The remorse he had just felt had overwhelmed his mind. Jiang Cheng even felt that even dying to atone for his sins wouldn't be enough. Why had he allowed Luo Xiaoli to participate in the war? Wouldn't it have been better to be a little selfish? He had sacrificed her life, a debt he could never repay, and he had almost lost the meaning of life.
Thankfully, she was unharmed!
But fate had other plans. Just as the Valkyrie was about to reach the last moment before retreating from the human defenses, a pure white, scorching beam of light flashed like lightning! It appeared behind her, piercing her leg, destroying her entire engine, and even blasting her steel body to the side, instantly throwing her off balance and crashing onto the ice, scattering countless ice shards across the sky. The scorching beam of light from behind had already arrived; the black sphere in the sky was like a demon ruling over everything, determined to destroy everything in the dimension of death. Icebergs shattered, and the ground exploded!
It is so terrifying that it is a force that humans are completely unable to resist.
Jiang Cheng's eyes were bloodshot. He shook off the soldiers around him and was about to rush towards the War Maiden without regard for anything else. But how could one person resist more than a dozen soldiers? He was immediately pinned down and carried away from the spot. No matter how hard he beat and scolded the soldiers around him, it was to no avail.
The Valkyrie didn't give up and kept trying to ignite other energy engines, but she lost her balance and stumbled and fell down, making it even more impossible for her to fly into the air.
With his last glance before leaving the dimension, Jiang Cheng's tears welled up and streamed down his face. He had never been so distraught before.
The next second, the world suddenly became pure and quiet, like a silent room in hell after death.
He appeared outside the dimension, with pure white snow beneath his feet, panting soldiers beside him, and countless people eagerly waiting behind him.
Medical personnel rushed forward to treat the wounded soldiers. In two different worlds, those waiting had no idea of the shocking scene that had just unfolded. They were bewildered and confused as they looked at the soldiers covered in dust, who seemed to carry the scent of disaster.
Jiang Cheng shoved aside the soldier beside him and sprinted toward the membrane like a madman. Countless soldiers surged forward, but he couldn't hear his assistant beside him saying, "Stop the commander! We absolutely cannot let him go back!" due to the explosion.
