Chapter 182 If you're not dead, why don't you go home?
"What do you mean 'again'?" Chu Rou slapped Chen Luo hard. "You've completely steered me off-topic."
“You should call him Uncle Qi.” Chu Rou introduced Qi Wende to Shen Luo.
She pulled Shen Luo in front of Qi Wende, "This is Shen Luo, my mother and Uncle Shen's son."
"Uncle Qi? His surname is Qi?" Shen Luo was full of question marks. "It can't be the Qi from Qi Lin and Qi Hang, can it?"
Qi Wende nodded. "That's right, I am Qi Lin and Qi Hang's father."
Shen Luo pulled Chu Rou aside and whispered, "Sister, you haven't fallen for that old bastard again, have you?"
"Get lost!" Chu Rou was furious with Shen Luo. She grabbed his ear and twisted it. "Have I not taught you a lesson these past few months? You've forgotten who you are. If you keep talking nonsense, I'll twist your ear off."
"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!" Shen Luo freed her ears and covered them. "Then what do you mean by bringing him home for no reason?"
"You'll find out soon enough." Chu Rou sighed, then asked, "Where's Mom?"
"Mom and Xiaojie went to buy groceries, they should be back soon," Shen Luo replied, rubbing her ears.
Chu Rou ushered Qi Wende inside, saying, "Dad, please come in and sit for a while. Mom has gone out to buy groceries."
Qi Wende nodded, went inside, and sat on the sofa to wait.
Shen Luo was stunned. What had he just heard? His sister called this man "Dad"?
His sister remarried Qi Hang? No way, there's been no word from Mo Chi's side.
Shen Luo turned her head stiffly, looking at Qi Wende in horror. Could it be that Uncle Chu's soul had entered this person's body?
He shuddered. No way, something so bizarre couldn't possibly be happening!
The door was suddenly opened, and Shen Luo jumped back in surprise.
Shi Jingman, who came in, was startled by Shen Luo. She patted her chest and said, "Xiao Luo, have you seen a ghost? Why are you so jumpy?"
Qu Jie, who followed him in, closed the door, glanced at Shen Luo, noticed that he didn't look well, and asked, "Shen Luo, what's wrong?"
Shen Luo pointed towards the living room, stammering, "My sister is back, and she brought... she brought..."
"Rou Rou, you're back!" Shi Jingman put down what she was holding and went to find Chu Rou before Shen Luo could finish speaking.
Hearing the sound, Chu Rou came over and hugged Shi Jingman, saying, "Mom, I missed you so much."
Shi Jingman smiled and patted Chu Rou's head, "How old are you? Still acting like a child with your mother."
"Mom...I..." Chu Rou didn't know how to introduce Qi Wende.
When Qi Wende saw Shi Jingman come in, he stood up, stared straight at her, his hands clenched into fists, his palms sweating.
Shi Jingman then noticed that there was another man in the living room.
Chu Rou messaged her yesterday, saying she was bringing a guest back. She thought it was Chu Rou bringing her girlfriends over, but it turned out to be a man wearing a mask.
This caught Shi Jingman off guard.
"Rou Rou, who is this?" Shi Jingman looked at Chu Rou with a questioning look in her eyes.
Chu Rou looked troubled, her lips moved but she didn't say a word.
Shi Jingman frowned, grabbed Chu Rou's arm, and asked in a low voice, "Didn't you say that Mo Chi's parents would be coming in a couple of days? Isn't your relationship with Mo Chi very stable?"
Chu Rou nodded, "Mo Chi and I are doing great!"
Hearing Chu Rou's words, Shi Jingman's brows finally relaxed. "Then who is this man?"
"He is... Qi Lin's father," Chu Rou muttered softly.
Huh? Shi Jingman was completely dumbfounded. "What's Qi Lin's father doing at our house? Didn't you return your Uncle Chen's antique vase?"
“That…he…” Chu Rou stammered, glancing at Qi Wende. Why wasn’t her father saying anything?
Qi Wende's lips trembled as he walked over step by step, stood in front of Shi Jingman, and softly called out, "Manman!"
Shi Jingman froze, her breathing became rapid, and she clutched her heart, asking in a trembling voice, "Who... are you?"
Shen Luo, who was standing at the door, wanted to go over and protect Shi Jingman, but Qu Jie grabbed her arm. "Shen Luo, help me take these things to the kitchen."
Shen Luo received Qu Jie's look, obediently bent down to pick up the bag on the ground, and went to the kitchen with Qu Jie.
Chu Rou felt that her parents would be too uncomfortable if she was there, so she also hid in the kitchen.
Shen Luo asked Chu Rou nervously, "Sister, is that man your father?"
Chu Rou glanced at Chen Luo and hummed in agreement.
"Is this body his real body?" Shen Luo continued to ask.
Chu Rou frowned. "What nonsense is this? Are there even fake bodies?"
Shen Luo swallowed hard. "What I mean is, did your father's soul transmigrate into Qi Lin's father's body?"
Chu Rou looked at Shen Luo as if she were an idiot. She slapped Shen Luo on the head and said, "Read less idle books in the future. How's your preparation for the postgraduate entrance exam going?"
Shen Luo rubbed her head. "I'll have no problem with the postgraduate entrance exam, but if you hit my head again, you'll make me stupid."
Chu Rou ignored Shen Luo and peeked out of the kitchen to see what was happening in the living room.
Afraid of frightening Shi Jingman, Qi Wende first explained, "Don't be afraid, I'm a person!"
He slowly lifted his mask, revealing his face.
Shi Jingman covered her mouth, took several steps back, and tears welled up in her eyes like a burst dam.
"Manman!" Seeing Shi Jingman like this, Qi Wende felt as if his heart was being cut by a knife. He took two steps forward and got closer to her.
"Chu, Weize, you...you're not dead?" Shi Jingman called out his name, word by word.
Qi Wende nodded slowly, his voice hoarse, "Manman, I'm sorry, I've made you suffer a lot."
Shi Jingman's entire body was tense, and painful memories slowly surfaced in her mind.
When she learned of Chu Weize's sacrifice, she was deeply saddened. If she hadn't been pregnant with his child, she would have wanted to follow him in death.
Meanwhile, her mother-in-law and brother-in-law took advantage of this time to secretly collect all of Chu Weize's compensation money.
When she found out, she went to them to ask for half of the money to raise the child, but was verbally abused in the street by Old Mrs. Chu, who accused her of having an affair and that the child in her belly was not Chu Weize's.
She was even pelted with vegetable leaves and eggs by that old woman, but she endured it to protect the baby in her womb and did not fight back.
In the days that followed, she went to prenatal checkups alone, lived alone, and worked until the day before she was due to give birth while heavily pregnant, all in order to earn more money.
She gave birth alone in the hospital, and after giving birth, no one took care of her. Fortunately, the nurses took pity on her and helped her get meals every day; otherwise, she might have gone hungry for several days.
What kind of postpartum period is this? She takes care of the baby all by herself, washing diapers, cooking, and feeding the baby every two or three hours.
If it weren't for her belief that she had to raise Chu Weize's only bloodline to adulthood, she might have collapsed long ago.
Then there were all the things Chu Mingjie had done to her, and Shi Jingman was trembling with anger.
She stepped forward, raised her arm, and slapped Qi Wende across the face. She screamed hysterically, "Why didn't you go home if you weren't dead? Do you know how much I've suffered!"
