Chapter 40 We're Still in a Pre-Road Relationship

Chapter 40 We're Still in a Pre-Road Relationship

Chu Rou looked in the direction Mo Chi pointed and saw a table and a chair in the innermost corner, with a laptop on the table.

It's quite simple!

"I work in your office?" Chu Rou was utterly astonished.

“You are the president’s special assistant. Except when you are sleeping, you must be on call at all times,” Mo Chi explained.

When you're under someone's roof, you have to bow your head. Chu Rou took off her coat and hung it up, then walked to her seat and sat down, looking up at Mo Chi with wide eyes.

"Mr. Mo, what can I do for you?"

Mo Chi looked down at the documents in his hand and asked, "Can you read financial statements?"

Chu Rou shook her head, "I studied computer science."

Mo Chi stood up, took two books out of the bookshelf, and handed them to Chu Rou. "I'll give you a week to read and thoroughly understand these two books."

Chu Rou took them and saw that one was "Basic Accounting Knowledge" and the other was "Financial Statement Analysis".

She looked up. "Finish a subject in a week?"

"How about three days?" Mo Chi's expression was serious, and he was not about to joke.

"Let's do it in a week!" Chu Rou silently opened "Basic Accounting Knowledge".

All morning, Chu Rou read books and took notes, as if she had returned to her student days.

Mo Chi didn't disturb her, but would occasionally look up at her.

Having a beautiful woman by his side really boosts efficiency; in half a day, Mo Chi finished reading all the documents in his hand.

He took over Wanhua for two reasons: first, for Chu Rou; and second, because he had completed all his university credits and could apply to graduate at any time, which meant he would have to return to City B to join the family competition.

Wanhua can be his entry point.

Mo Chi walked to Chu Rou's desk and tapped on it, "It's lunchtime."

Chu Rou glanced at the time and realized it was already 12 o'clock. She stretched her neck and realized that three hours had passed without her noticing.

"Is Mr. Mo going to the cafeteria for lunch?"

"Pack your things, we'll eat out for lunch, and then come with me to USTC this afternoon."

Mo Chi was dressed in a shirt and trousers today, completely different from before. His deep eyes were fixed on Chu Rou, like a black hole trying to suck her soul away.

Chu Rou quickly lowered her head and murmured, "Do you still need me to accompany you to school?"

Mo Chi raised an eyebrow, tapping his fingers on the table with impatience. "Assistant Chu, do I need to repeat your responsibilities?"

"I understand," Chu Rou stood up and packed her things. "Except for sleeping, I have to stay with you."

Chu Rou's shoulder bag is quite large; it can easily fit two books inside.

Mo Chi grunted in satisfaction and went to put on his coat, taking Chu Rou's coat with him as well.

He opened Chu Rou's coat, and Chu Rou naturally walked over and put it on.

"If others saw this, they would think I was your special assistant, President Chu!" Mo Chi joked.

Chu Rou glanced at him, "Besides being your special assistant, I'm also your older sister!"

“Our relationship doesn’t seem to be that simple,” Mo Chi said, gazing at her with his hands down. “It seems we’re still in a pre-relationship phase, with a one-month pre-relationship period.”

Chu Rou covered her face, wondering how she and Mo Chi had ended up in this relationship, going from fake lovers to a couple in the making.

Mo Chi pulled down one of her hands and led her outside, saying, "Don't be shy, I'm hungry."

“Who’s shy?” Chu Rou pulled her hand away. “You should be more mindful of your behavior at the company.”

Mo Chi put his arm around Chu Rou's shoulder, but Chu Rou shook him off and ran to press the elevator button.

While waiting for the elevator, Chu Rou looked at Mo Chi warily, "We agreed to keep our distance for a month."

Mo Chi gave her a cold look but didn't say anything.

When the elevator arrived, Mo Chi went in first and stood in the middle of the elevator. Chu Rou followed him in, pressed the button for the first floor, and stood in a corner.

Upon reaching the first floor, the elevator doors opened, and Mo Chi strode out of the elevator without waiting for Chu Rou.

Chu Rou was wearing high heels today and had to jog to keep up with Mo Chi's speed. She thought to herself that Mo Chi was a stingy person who would give her a hard time if he was not satisfied with her.

Mo Chi glanced around the parking lot and walked towards Chu Rou's car.

"Open the car door!" Mo Chi didn't pull the car door open. He was annoyed that Chu Rou was clueless. He frowned and turned around to scold her, but found that there was no one behind him.

Where is she? He looked into the distance and saw Chu Rou limping towards him.

Mo Chi rushed over and supported Chu Rou with one hand, "What happened?"

Tears welled in Chu Rou's eyelashes, and her lips twitched down. "I twisted my ankle."

"You can twist your ankle just by walking? Are you a pig?" Mo Chi couldn't help but say.

Chu Rou:......

She really was born in the Year of the Pig.

Chu Rou angrily punched Mo Chi, "It's all because you walked so fast, I couldn't keep up even when I ran, and I twisted my ankle in my haste."

"You silly pig!" Mo Chi picked Chu Rou up and carried her towards the car.

Afraid of falling, Chu Rou took the initiative to hug Mo Chi's neck. Mo Chi lowered his eyes and asked, "You don't need to keep your distance from me now?"

"I'm a patient now!" Chu Rou retorted stubbornly, convinced she was in the right.

Mo Chi put Chu Rou in the back seat, and then he got in as well. He lifted Chu Rou's injured foot onto his knee, helped her take off her shoes and socks, and gently massaged her ankle.

"Ouch~" Chu Rou gasped in pain. She tried to move her ankle. "It's okay, it's not too serious. I'll get my ankle set tonight."

Mo Chi's hand was still touching her feet. Chu Rou frowned and tried to pull her feet back, but Mo Chi's large hand held her firmly. "Don't move. I'll help you set your bones."

"Huh? You can... ah..." Before Chu Rou could finish the word "bone," a piercing pain made her scream.

Mo Chi patted the back of her foot, "Alright, try moving it."

Chu Rou wiped away the tears streaming from the corners of her eyes, rotated her ankle, and it seemed to hurt less. She nodded, "Much better."

Mo Chi helped her put on her socks and asked, "Where are your flats?"

"It's right there in front," Chu Rou said, pointing to the area under the driver's seat.

Mo Chi leaned over, reached out and took the shoes to help her change. "Don't wear high heels anymore. You're still quite short whether you wear them or not."

Chu Rou was initially touched by Mo Chi's gentle actions, but Mo Chi's words were like a bucket of cold water being poured on her. She turned cold and pushed him away, saying, "Go drive, don't bother me here."

"You heartless little thing." Mo Chi pinched Chu Rou's nose hard, then quickly got out of the car and left the back seat.

Chu Rou covered her nose, her eyes brimming with tears. That brat really went all out; her nose was sore from being pinched.

Mo Chi drove to the vicinity of the University of Science and Technology of China, found a popular restaurant, carried Chu Rou inside, found a window seat, and put her down.

Mo Chi was a well-known campus heartthrob at USTC, and many people knew him, especially the girls.

As he carried Chu Rou into the restaurant, all the students eating inside looked at them.

Some even took photos and posted them on social media.

Ye Xia was idly scrolling through her phone when she suddenly saw a photo of Mo Chi hugging Chu Rou on her WeChat Moments. Her mood immediately soured. "Shameless old woman, I don't know how she managed to cling to Mo Chi!"
