He was about to help her get her things when his phone suddenly rang. He took it out and saw the caller ID, but he didn't answer immediately. Instead, he glanced at Su Yuxi, walked a little further away, and then pressed the call button.
After hearing what was said on the other end, Fu Huaijin's expression turned grim. He simply replied "wait" and hung up.
"Don't touch mine, I'll take it myself." Su Yuxi slapped away the bodyguard's outstretched hand and protected her belongings tightly. She didn't know these people, and who knew if they had bad intentions? She was afraid that someone would try to steal her jewelry.
Fu Huaijin softened his expression, put his phone in his pocket, and walked over to take the suitcase from her.
"I'll do it."
Su Yuxi didn't resist this time and naturally let him carry it.
Their way of getting along left the butler, servants, and bodyguards present completely dumbfounded.
Their young master had never helped anyone before, let alone taken anything of his own. Today, not only did he bring back a lady of the house, but he also condescended to take things from her, which was not only astonishing but also quite unbelievable.
Su Yuxi followed Fu Huaijin into the luxurious villa. Once inside, she discovered that the layout was similar to that of houses in Shengjing, and even the photos hanging there had been replicated one-to-one.
"Did you just copy everything from over there?"
"Mm." He was worried that Su Yuxi wouldn't adapt well to this place. These things that could be done with just a flick of his finger weren't a big deal for him. But now, seeing the smile in her eyes, he felt he had done the right thing.
Su Yuxi gave him a big thumbs up from behind.
Fu Huaijin put down the suitcase, turned around and hugged her, placing a gentle kiss on her face, his eyes full of reluctance: "I have to go out for a while. You stay home and take good care of yourself. If you need anything, talk to the housekeeper. If you can't solve it, call me."
Su Yuxi blushed at his blunt behavior and gently pushed him away, saying, "Okay, go ahead, but come back soon."
"Um."
After Fu Huaijin left, she was left alone in the villa.
She had been busy all day, and since she was unfamiliar with the area and had no desire to leave, she temporarily put away her jewelry, then took a shower, ate something, and went to sleep.
When Fu Huaijin woke up the next day, he still hadn't returned.
Thinking about the message he sent back, she didn't pay much attention to it.
Who would have thought that this trip would last for five days? Fortunately, I didn't lose contact and was able to reply to my messages promptly.
On the afternoon of the fifth day, Su Yuxi returned home as the sun set and saw the man who had disappeared for several days sitting on the sofa with his eyes closed, resting.
Fu Huaijin dressed casually in a simple white shirt and black pants. The top three buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing his eye-catching chest muscles and collarbone. A few strands of long hair casually draped over his shoulders, adding a touch of casual and unrestrained charm that made it hard to look away.
Her eyes lit up with joy. She put down the bag in her hand and ran to him.
"You're back." Upon hearing the noise, Fu Huaijin seemed to spring back to life, his voice gentle and languid, though his brows and eyes showed deep fatigue, indicating that he hadn't had a proper rest in a long time.
"Where have you been all these days?" She secretly examined the man's physical condition, her nose twitching slightly as she tried to smell if there was any blood on him. Fortunately, he was healthy and unharmed.
Fu Huaijin naturally reached out his hand to her, and Su Yuxi understood and sat on his lap, letting him hold her. Although she had acted indifferent these days, she was still a little worried about him when the night was quiet.
"There are some things that need to be done, and they're almost done."
Are you settling in well here?
Su Yuxi hummed inwardly, "Not bad."
These past few days I've been either shopping or eating, and as for this man, I only bring him up occasionally.
"Mmm." Fu Huaijin closed his eyes, gently brushing his cheek against her hair, and whispered a soft murmur in her ear.
"Could you sleep with me for a while?"
In the days without her, his heart felt like it was being gently tugged by a thread, and he could only fall asleep a handful of times. He knew he couldn't rely on someone like that, but he felt that as long as that person was Su Yuxi, he could indulge himself a little.
Hearing his tired tone, Su Yuxi felt a pang of inexplicable pity: "Have you eaten anything? Would you like to eat something first?"
Fu Huaijin shook his head slightly. He didn't want to eat anything right now, he just wanted to get some sleep. Seeing that the person in his arms didn't resist, he took it as a tacit agreement.
A smile involuntarily crept onto his lips as he scooped the person up in his arms and strode upstairs with quick yet steady steps.
Su Yuxi felt his strong and powerful arms and his brisk steps. She hadn't paid much attention before, but now he seemed to cough less and his complexion had improved a lot, almost like a normal person: "Are you better?"
"Put me down and walk yourself."
Fu Huaijin lowered his eyelids and hugged the person tighter: "No need."
It was later confirmed that this was indeed not necessary. He not only carried her steadily back to bed, but also began to breathe evenly within three seconds of her lying down.
He looked extremely tired, but insisted on staying awake to wait for her to come back.
Su Yuxi was held tightly in his arms. Even though he was fast asleep, the strength in his embrace was no less, as if he was afraid that she would run away halfway.
Helpless, she could only lie there obediently, looking at that handsome face with its distinct features. Her gaze traced the contours of his face stroke by stroke, as if she wanted to engrave him into her mind.
As time went by, Su Yuxi's clear eyes gradually became hazy with drowsiness, and her eyelids slowly drooped.
In the quiet room, the two slept in each other's arms, with only the sound of their even breathing remaining.
When she opened her eyes again, the man beside her had disappeared.
Su Yuxi groggily got up, gently rubbing her sleepy eyes, and squinted as she searched the room for the man's figure. There was no one else around except for the quiet. She got off the bed, stepped barefoot on the soft blanket, and turned to walk out.
As soon as I opened the door, I bumped into a man coming up from below.
When Fu Huaijin saw that she had come downstairs without shoes on, he frowned slightly, said nothing, and carried her back to bed. He picked up her discarded shoes and put them on her, then pulled her up and said calmly, "Go downstairs and eat something. After you eat, I'll take you out to play."
"Where are we going?" Su Yuxi was mostly awake now and unconsciously quickened her pace to keep up with him, her gaze involuntarily falling on his well-defined fingers.
He was still wearing that strange bracelet on his wrist. Strangely, the bracelet used to be inlaid with only two dazzling blood-red gemstones, but now there was one more. The bracelet also gave off a faint, elegant woody fragrance.
She wanted to look more closely, but she had already been forced into a chair.
