Chapter 36 A Look in His Eyes Confirms It: She Is His Antidote

Su Yuxi's expression froze, and her grip on the bag tightened. But what could she say? After all, it was she who suggested cooking at home.

"Oh, okay."

She placed her handbag, along with the wine and fruit she had brought, on the table to the side, and looked around: "Excuse me, where is the kitchen? I'll prepare the side dishes first."

Fu Huaijin gestured to her left with his chin.

They really can't be bothered to say a single word.

Su Yuxi looked in the direction he pointed, her lips slightly pursed. The kitchen door was hidden quite well; was it to prevent people from stealing from the kitchen?

"Please wait a moment, I'll go cook."

"Hmm." After replying to her, Fu Huaijin closed his eyes again like an old monk in meditation, ignoring everything else and only wanting to be a useless person.

Su Yuxi took the opportunity to make a face at him and quickly locked herself in the kitchen.

She first wandered around the kitchen, then touched the stove with her finger. It was spotless, without a trace of grease. She wondered if it was just too clean or if the stove had never been used before.

She went to the large refrigerator, opened it, and found it filled with all kinds of meat, neatly arranged and icy, each piece looking fresh and juicy, as if it had just been cut from its host.

Next to it was a large aquarium, filled with all kinds of seafood that had been air-freighted in that morning, looking incredibly luxurious and dazzling.

Su Yuxi took two chickens out of the refrigerator, looking them over and poking them here and there to check the quality of the meat. Tonight she was going to make roast chicken, poached chicken, three-cup chicken, chicken stew with mushrooms, and chicken soup... Just thinking about it made her mouth water.

Fu Huaijin stood as still as a statue, his solitary figure seemingly isolated from the world around him. An hour passed, and he remained in that position, without moving an inch.

Suddenly, the silent hall was filled with the clanging of clocks, the sound like ancient war drums echoing in every corner.

The man sitting on the sofa suddenly opened his eyes, his body stiffened, and his pupils rapidly dilated and contracted, sometimes as black as ink, sometimes as red as blood, constantly flashing with an eerie and terrifying light, as if he were undergoing some kind of transformation.

Before long, Fu Huaijin seemed to be enduring immense pain. The veins on his forehead bulged, and his muscles bulged and swelled like hills. Every inch of his skin was forced to tighten to the extreme. This change in power made him look like a ferocious beast awakening from the abyss, exceptionally fierce and violent.

Su Yuxi was stewing her chicken when she suddenly sensed something was wrong with the atmosphere around her, as if some danger was gradually approaching.

She put down the spatula, turned down the heat, opened the kitchen door, and poked her head out to look around.

But apart from the person on the sofa, there was no one else in the villa.

"Mr. Fu?" she called out to the man sitting upright.

Fu Huaijin was trying to take deep breaths to calm himself down when he heard the voice behind him. His previously volatile emotions suddenly seemed to be paused, and he was stuck there, neither calming down nor calming down.

He stood up from the sofa, and from a distance, he looked like a majestic mountain rising from the ground, steady and dignified.

The moment he turned around, Su Yuxi met his eyes, and a powerful sense of oppression washed over her, making her momentarily at a loss. She subconsciously wanted to avoid looking at him.

"Um, my chicken isn't ready yet, you'll have to wait a little longer." With that, she slammed the kitchen door shut, shutting out the dangerous gaze. Her heart pounded in her chest. She grabbed a knife, thinking to herself, "How did this man become so terrifying again? Wasn't he just lying half-dead on the sofa a moment ago?"

Fu Huaijin gently closed his eyelids, his thin lips pressed tightly together, his deep, dark eyes seemingly concealing a myriad of thoughts. After pondering, he strode confidently toward the kitchen, his long legs carrying him steadily. The closer he got, the faster his restless energy dissipated.

Until he stopped at the kitchen door, his muscles relaxed, the pain disappeared, and his anxiety was soothed, he experienced for the first time how easily he could cross the six o'clock mark.

Just then, his phone rang. He held it, repeatedly turning it on and off, pondering a question over and over again: why could this girl soothe his turbulent emotions the moment she appeared, as if she were his antidote?

After thinking for a long time, he still sent the message to his friend. The friend was also looking at Su Yuxi's blood test report. All the data were clear and normal, indicating that she was in very good health and that her blood was free of any impurities.

He looked at the message Fu Huaijin had sent, his brows furrowing even more. If it wasn't a blood problem, then: "Check if she's carrying anything..."

Perhaps something is controlling her, otherwise no one can explain why Fu Huaijin's symptoms would all disappear as soon as he got close to her.

Fu Huaijin stared at the screen for a long time before finally turning it off. His gaze fell on the lonely handbag lying on the sofa. He walked over there almost without hesitation.

While others might find it morally wrong to peek into someone else's bag, he didn't.

He picked up the bag and quickly rummaged through it. Inside, besides the car keys, his cell phone, some cosmetics, snacks, and candy, there was nothing else.

Could it be that the thing is on her?

It cannot be ruled out.

Fu Huaijin calmly and methodically packed everything back into his bag. When he got his hands on some candies without any packaging or instructions, he quietly took out a few, put the bag back in its place, and then casually walked to the kitchen doorway and stood there.

Listening to the cheerful tunes hummed by the people in the kitchen, it seemed as if even the air itself was filled with a joyful atmosphere, and a feeling he couldn't quite put his finger on rose in his heart.

It has been said that if a chef is in a state of great joy, then her cooking will be incredibly delicious.

He smelled the aroma of food wafting from inside, his stomach churned, and his long-dormant appetite seemed to be truly awakened.

He closed his eyes slightly and took a deep breath, as if trying to inhale the lingering fragrance into his lungs and etch it into his heart.

About an hour later, the door inside finally opened.

Su Yuxi was holding a plate of sweet and sour pork. She had just taken a step out when she was startled by the figure at the door and almost dropped the dish.

As the saying goes, "One person scares another, and that scares them to death." Damn it, why does this man have to stand at the doorway pretending to be a ghost to scare her when there's such a big place to stand? Is he just bored and has nothing better to do?

She was now filled with anger, and her voice inevitably rose as she scolded, "What are you doing standing here... you scared me!"

Fu Huaijin glanced at her but said nothing. If she could be frightened just by him standing at the door, then it could only mean that she was not vigilant and was too timid.
