Su Yuxi followed the figure to a riverbank.
This place is remote and surrounded by forests; there is not a single person in sight.
She stopped in place, held her breath, and scanned her surroundings with keen eyes, carefully capturing every subtle movement.
Suddenly, a pungent floral scent drifted in on the wind, spreading rapidly around her and penetrating her nostrils, interfering with her sense of smell and making it impossible for her to discern directions.
This move was somewhat of an attempt to cover up the truth.
Even someone as oblivious as her could notice it.
So that figure just now was Azu?
He couldn't possibly not see me standing here, a grown man, and he would even create obstacles to avoid me.
Why?
She walked slowly to the riverbank. The water shimmered, reflecting her graceful figure. The person in the reflection looked the same; even after three years, she wouldn't be unrecognizable.
Just as she was filled with unanswered questions, a sudden gust of wind swept through the air, and before she could react, she was grabbed by a pair of iron arms and rolled on the ground.
It was that warm and familiar embrace; his unique scent instantly enveloped her.
Su Yuxi did not struggle, but rolled twice in the grass with his force.
When the light returned, all that could be seen was a man's panting and tense face.
A gust of cold wind blew by, waking the surprised Su Yuxi.
"What...what are you doing here?" Her voice was tinged with confusion and surprise. She knew her own speed well; wasn't this man on the phone earlier? How did he find her so quickly?
Fu Huaijin pinned her down, his breath uneven, his burning gaze filled with the terror of surviving a close call.
At the restaurant, he was afraid she would be taken away by someone, afraid she would be in danger and he wouldn't be able to save her in time; after finding her, seeing her standing motionless by the river, he was afraid she would lose her mind and jump in.
Until he tackled her to the ground and held her in his arms, he had a lot of accusations and questions he wanted to say, but when he met her clear eyes, all the words got stuck in his throat, and he couldn't say anything.
Su Yuxi noticed that something was wrong with him, so she raised her hands to stroke his cheeks and softly called out, "Fu Huaijin, what's wrong?"
Fu Huaijin's broad palm covered the back of her hand, and the warm touch finally relieved the tightness in his heart.
But when he thought about how recklessly he had run out, an indescribable anger welled up inside him, and he couldn't help but scold her sharply: "Why did you run out by yourself? Do you know how dangerous this is? What if something happened?"
"This place is not like back home; danger is everywhere."
"Do you know...?"
Su Yuxi clutched his shirt with her small hands, lowered her eyes, and dared not meet his angry gaze. She pursed her red lips and timidly apologized, "I'm sorry, I forgot."
The figure and aura were too familiar; she had to come out and see for herself.
Upon hearing her apology, Fu Huaijin felt as if his body had suddenly deflated, collapsing onto her. However, still mindful of her feelings, he used his elbow to lend her some support: "Xixi, what I need is not an apology, but for you to realize that this place is dangerous. No matter what you see or encounter, you must not run around."
Do you know?
Su Yuxi remained silent. She was an adult and had her own judgment about whether something was dangerous, but it was indeed wrong of her to run out without saying hello: "I will be more careful next time."
"Hmm." Fu Huaijin responded heavily, and after he composed himself, he slowly got up from her.
Their clothes were soaked with water droplets and covered in mud, making them look both intimate and somewhat disheveled.
"Let's go back and change our clothes first."
Su Yuxi was also pulled up. She frowned and looked worriedly at the opposite bank of the river. She didn't want to go back, but the man next to her would definitely not let her cross.
After much hesitation, I decided against it and will come back another time.
Pulled back by Fu Huaijin, she walked slowly, turning back every few steps.
When Su Yuxi returned home, she was listless and her eyes had lost their usual sparkle. She kept thinking about that familiar figure and wanted to go back and see him again.
Fu Huaijin could tell that she was absent-minded, but when asked, she refused to say anything.
He went out for only a few minutes, but the two of them seemed to have built an insurmountable bridge between them. This made Su Yuxi very uneasy, but he didn't know how to break through it.
The two lay in the same bed at night, but their dreams were not the same.
Although Su Yuxi kept her eyes closed, she couldn't fall asleep for a long time until the sky began to lighten, and then she finally drifted off to sleep.
She had just fallen asleep when the man lying on the bed threw off the covers, got up, fumbled for his phone, and left the room.
He went to the next room, stood quietly on the balcony, a cigarette between his fingers, and exuded an air of restlessness.
A bodyguard appeared out of nowhere like a ghost, stood beside him and whispered, "Master, we checked, and apart from the surveillance footage of Madam running downstairs, all the other cameras were jammed to varying degrees and we can't see anything."
Fu Huaijin stubbed out his cigarette on the balcony railing: "Can't it be fixed?"
The man shook his head; even their top engineers couldn't recover the video.
This is enough to show that the other party's skills are very impressive.
This is not good news for them.
Fu Huaijin rubbed his eyes wearily: "I understand. How's the manpower allocation going?"
"It will take two more days for everything to arrive."
"good."
The two talked privately for another ten minutes or so before the room returned to silence.
...
The next day, when Su Yuxi woke up, she was thinking that she must find an excuse to sneak out today. However, before she could put her idea into action, Fu Huaijin dragged her to the shooting range.
They were greeted by a tall, muscular man dressed in a military-style short-sleeved t-shirt and trousers, who looked like a black bear.
The man had a well-defined face with a sharp jawline, a broken brow bone, and a murderous look in his eyes; anyone who was even slightly timid would not dare to look him in the eye.
"Why did you bring me here?" Su Yuxi tugged at Fu Huaijin's sleeve, her eyes constantly glancing at the man out of the corner of her eye. Not only did he have a fierce appearance, but his muscles were also frighteningly large. Even before he exerted any force, they were taut like a rock. Just one look was enough to tell how much explosive power was hidden within them.
The man glanced at Su Yuxi, his eyes filled with disdain, clearly looking down on her small frame: "Is it her?"
Are you sure someone with such skinny arms and legs can lift a gun?
Don't be so scared you pee your pants at the slightest touch.
Fu Huaijin looked down at Su Yuxi, smiled faintly and said nothing: "Try it and you'll know."
Su Yuxi was completely baffled by their cryptic conversation.
She quickly understood what they meant.
