Chapter 4: Light Up the First Card Star
Huali stared in shock at the card, then at the monk in front of her.
Just as he was about to speak, the ground suddenly trembled violently.
The Shadowless Beast went berserk and actually tore a hole in the barrier, reaching its claws inside.
The monk needs to save people; she's the only one left who can fight the Shadowless Beast.
The problem is that she has used up all her card uses and needs to find a suitable tool.
Huali looked around and suddenly saw the Vajra Pestle in the corner. "You're the one."
"Master, may I borrow your magic weapon?"
Lian Zhuo channeled the demonic energy from the child into herself, and the Buddhist beads on her wrist slowly rotated, gradually purifying the demonic energy.
Bright red blood gushed from the cleansed wound. Lian Zhuo's pupils constricted, and she immediately held her breath and chanted an incantation.
He quickly bandaged the wound, ensuring no more blood leaked out. He got up to leave, but Xiao Bao, who had just woken up, grabbed his finger. "Was the sorcerer also sent by Mother to save me?"
Lian Zhuo bowed her head.
"That lady is in danger, could you please go and help her?"
He looked in the direction the little girl was pointing.
Even the Buddhist disciple, who never showed any emotion, froze for a moment.
Huali had no idea that the vajra she was wielding was a divine magical artifact that had accompanied the Buddhist monk in suppressing demons several times. It was usually carefully protected by the Buddhist monk and had never received such treatment before.
She just thought this big club was really useful; carrying it felt like holding a butcher's knife.
She would cut off one arm of the Shadowless Beast that reached in, and cut off both of them if they reached in twice.
After cutting off the head that the Shadowless Beast stretched out for the eighth time, Huali was completely exhausted.
"These things can generate infinitely; I could kill them all even if I worked myself to death. Go check out that monk—who he is, and what his cultivation level is."
Ao Bai opened his mouth wide and bit off a black shadow. "His cultivation level isn't high; he should have just formed his core. The earth-type card reacted when it saw him. I'll find a way to get him to touch the card later."
"Golden Core? That's enough!" Hua Li forcefully shattered the dark figure in front of her, then turned and roared at the figure standing at the door, "I can't cut anymore, it's your turn!"
Lian Zhuo's halfway through the hand seal movement abruptly stopped.
Seeing that he didn't react, Huali, covered in the smell of blood, ran towards him and stuffed the Vajra Pestle into his arms. "Chop it! Hold on until dawn and we'll be safe."
The distance is too close.
The girl's hot breath sprayed through the thin fabric onto her chest, causing a slight tickling sensation.
Lian Zhuo took a step back almost imperceptibly.
He took the vajra in his hand without saying a word, and without making any move, the bloodstains on the vajra disappeared completely.
Lian Zhuo then looked down at Hua Li.
The intense running caused two rosy blushes to appear on the girl's already fair face. Strands of hair on her forehead were soaked with sweat and stuck to her eyebrows and eyes. A red feather slid down her cheek as she tilted her head, and she was looking at him with a puzzled expression.
How can someone wield magical artifacts when they clearly lack spiritual power?
"Master? Hurry up! The barrier opening has widened, it's about to come in!" Seeing that the Shadowless Beast had already squeezed half its body in, Huali was so anxious she jumped up and down.
"Forget it, it's better to rely on yourself than to ask others for help."
Not relying on this person, Huali grabbed the other end of the vajra and tried to snatch it, shouting, "Give it to me, I'll do it!"
Lian Zhuo suppressed the doubt in her eyes and gently shook her head, "No need, I'll do it."
That's exactly what I've been waiting to hear!
Huali immediately let go, took a small step back, and hid behind Lianzhuo.
Lian Zhuo pretended not to see her little trick. After putting the vajra down, she took off the prayer beads from her wrist, picked out one bead, placed it between her thumb and middle finger, and flicked it out.
The Shadowless Beast, having completely broken free of the barrier, was baring its fangs and roaring wildly when it was instantly struck between the eyebrows by the Buddhist beads.
Before it could even scream in agony, it turned to dust in an instant, carried away by the light emanating from the prayer beads.
The whole process took less than three seconds.
Huali: "......" Awesome.
So what about all that exhaustion she put in fighting the demons like a dog? Does that mean she had the strength?
This damned cultivation world!
Ao Bai: "Holy crap, this fighting power! What else could he be but the chosen one! Quick, let him touch your card."
As dawn broke, the perilous night was finally over.
Huali leaned against the door, panting for a while, then turned to look at Xiaobao on the tatami mat. She was already asleep, her face rosy, clearly the demonic poison had been neutralized.
Huali was completely relieved and began to try to get closer to him: "Thanks to the master today, may I ask how you are called?"
Lian Zhuo shook her head, clearly unwilling to say more, "The child is fine now."
The implication was that you could leave.
Huali pretended not to understand and immediately seized the opportunity to express her gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Master. I'll have her mother come to thank you in person another day. Master, do you live here alone?"
"Are you also a Buddhist disciple?"
Seeing that the girl was asking more and more questions, Lian Zhuo said "Amitabha" and "It's already dawn, benefactor, you should go back early."
Seeing that the other person was about to leave, Huali rushed forward and opened her arms to block him. "Wait a minute, I would like to ask the master for a favor."
The intense pain from the backlash of the Gu poison during the Fifteen Nights was still lingering, and the journey was forcibly interrupted again. A barely perceptible flash of bloodlust appeared in Lian Zhuo's eyes, and her aura became even more frosty.
Immersed in immense joy, Karin had no time to observe anything else; her mind was entirely focused on the stars on the earth-element cards.
"Here, take this."
Lian Zhuo lowered his head, and the other party handed him a palm-sized brown card with a pattern he had never seen before. A faint dark light flowed through the gaps in the pattern, but it was not the usual spiritual power.
His gaze was drawn to it.
Perhaps this is why the girl, who is clearly an ordinary person, can wield the Vajra pestle?
She clearly wanted him to take the card. Could it be that the rune could absorb the spiritual power of others?
Lian Zhuo accepted it expressionlessly.
Karin held her breath and stared intently at the stars above the card, silently counting them in her mind.
"Three, two, one."
Nothing happened.
"How could this be?" The stars aren't lit up.
The surprise instantly turned into disappointment. Undeterred, Huali looked up and began to nitpick: "Master, you should hold on a little tighter."
Lian Zhuo did as instructed, but nothing happened.
Ao Bai: "This is impossible. The earth-type cards clearly responded. Something must be wrong."
Having spent the last three months searching like a needle in a haystack, Huali was unwilling to give up such an opportunity.
She simply reached out and grabbed the Buddhist disciple's other hand, "How about trying this?"
The warmth of her body was transmitted through her hands, and Lianzhuo subconsciously stepped back, but Huali forcibly grabbed her and placed her on the card.
The force was so great that he felt the other person was about to pull his hand off.
The black bodhi on the wrist bone emitted a strange light the moment it touched the card.
Huali's eyes widened, while Lianzhuo's expression suddenly changed.
The previously suppressed poison surged forth like a tidal wave.
His pupils contracted, and without caring about losing his composure, he flung away Hua Li's hand, clutching his chest and staggering back several steps.
Your blood?
Huali hurriedly caught the card, then looked at her palm upon hearing this.
She was injured during the fight earlier, and it's still bleeding, but she hadn't noticed.
"Ah, yes, it's mine... Hey, why did you leave?"
Before Huali could finish speaking, the Buddhist disciple had already turned around and disappeared from the spot.
"What's wrong with him?" He looks like he's been chased by a dog.
Ao Bai perched on her shoulder, intently studying the card. "Host, host, look!"
Huali looked down and saw a small gray star slowly lighting up above the earth-type card.
"This is..." Huali rubbed her eyes, saying in disbelief, "It's lit up!"
"My God, my Grandma, my coat, my padded jacket! I finally see hope!" Huali jumped three feet high while hugging the card, then suddenly slapped her forehead, "Wait, wait!"
Ao Bai, still basking in surprise, exclaimed, "Huh?"
Huali looked around mysteriously, and after confirming that the monk was not nearby, she quickly ran to the place where the Shadowless Beast had disappeared and squatted down to search carefully.
"Host, what are you doing?"
"I remember it being right here." Karin reached out and touched the grass. Suddenly, her eyes crinkled like a cat that had stolen a fish. "Found it."
A black Bodhi bead, the size of a glass bead, lay quietly on her fingertip.
This is a great treasure.
Although it's uncertain whether it worked, being able to instantly kill the Shadowless Beast is definitely a powerful tool, so why not take it?
"Is the host trying to use this opportunity to create another chance for communication?" Ao Bai's eyes lit up. "As expected of you."
Huali carefully wiped the dust off the beads and tucked them into her waist pocket like a precious treasure. "What are you thinking? What I found is naturally mine."
