Chapter 7 The Philanthropist Wang Takes a Concubine

"Oh, could you please pass on a message to that philanthropist Wang?"

Cen Xi thought about it and felt it was necessary to remind the other party, otherwise what would happen if they returned the goods later?

"What did you say?"

The villager to Cen Xi's left had a big smile on his face.

“Just say that since he has taken me in, he can’t divorce me unless I don’t want to live with him anymore. Now that I’ve entered the Wang family, I’m a member of the Wang family. No matter what I do, he has to tolerate me. If he agrees to this condition, just have him arrange for someone to come and pick me up.”

Cen Xi made her request to the other party in a very serious manner.

"Alright! We will definitely pass on the message. Madam Liu, we'll be going now."

The two men, looking at Cen Xi's slender waist and graceful figure, also had some improper thoughts. However, they didn't have enough money, and their families didn't have enough food to support such a beautiful woman. Otherwise, it would have been good for them to enjoy themselves.

A one-night stand wouldn't be so bad, but they'd already witnessed this beautiful woman's formidable skills yesterday. They were afraid they'd be beaten to a pulp before they even got close.

"That generous Wang got off easy."

After leaving the house, a man said resentfully.

“Li Lao Er, we can’t afford to deal with a woman like that. I think you should hurry up and go to Wang Dashan’s house. It would be good to get some money.”

"Let's go! If we get this done, we won't have to worry all winter. That scholar Liu is really lucky to have married such a beautiful wife."

"So what if you have a good life? You're still going to die young. And this woman is no better. She's in a hurry to get married right after her husband died. She didn't even ask for a dowry and just willingly married into the Wang family."

"Alas! The world is going to the dogs!"

"Yes! The world is going to the dogs!"

...

"You rotten woman, you are not allowed to marry Wang the Philanthropist, and you are not allowed to ruin my mother's body."

As soon as the two men left, Xiao Jiuyi started to make trouble for Cen Xi.

"Brother! You're not allowed to curse Mother like that! You're not allowed to curse Mother!"

Before Cen Xi could think of a word to explain, Xiao Yu pushed her brother, defending Cen Xi without any principles.

"She's not my mother, she's just a slut!"

Xiao Jiu glared at Cen Xi with resentment.

"That's enough, Liu Jiuyi! I did all this for the good of the three of us. You can rest assured, your mother's health will definitely not be ruined."

"I've always treated you like a child, but I never expected you to utter such shameless words. You've disappointed me greatly. When Mr. Wang arrives later, you can come with me if you want, or not if you don't!"

Cen Xi was truly heartbroken by the malicious insults from a five-year-old child.

What did she do to deserve this? She went from a vibrant young woman to a widow in the countryside, and now she has to endure the malicious slander from the original owner's son.

"Mommy, don't be angry. Little Fish likes you. Little Fish loves you. Mommy is a princess. I am a little princess. I am Mommy's forever little princess."

The little fish, with its chubby little hands, kept tugging at Cen Xi's sleeve, its eyes blinking as it looked at Cen Xi.

Cen Xi looked at the little girl's eyes, which were both comforted and a little aggrieved, and her eyes instantly welled up with tears. She hugged the little girl and started sobbing.

She's feeling really wronged. Can anyone comfort her?

After venting her emotions, Cen Xi carried Xiao Yu into her husband's study to pack her things.

She wanted to take that zither; if the philanthropist Wang came to pick her up today, it would be very useful tonight.

However, she still had to prepare for the worst. If that philanthropist Wang changed his mind and didn't intend to take her as a concubine, then she would have no choice but to brave the wind and snow to go into the mountains once.

She couldn't just watch herself starve to death. If she died and couldn't return to that world, she would become a starving ghost, and she didn't want to be one.

"Little Fish, are there any hunters in the village? Where do they usually hunt?"

"My brother said that the village head's family was the biggest hunters in the village. But they've become richer in recent years and no longer hunt."

Grandma Xiaoyu's voice makes you want to kiss her.

"What will you do if your brother doesn't want to come with me? Will you stay with him or with me?"

The thought of Jiu Yi completely dampened Cen Xi's enthusiasm for going hunting.

“Brother is wrong. You are my mother, and he is his mother too! We should all live with our mother.”

The little girl scratched her head and answered like this.

“If we interpret it by bloodline, I seem to really be your mother now, but your brother doesn’t acknowledge it, what should we do?”

Cen Xi thought for a moment and decided not to bother arguing with a five-year-old kid.

"Don't worry, Mother. I'll teach my brother a lesson and make him listen to me."

As Xiaoyu spoke, she clenched her pink little fists, making a gesture as if she was about to punch Liu Jiuyi.

"Pfft! You're so cute. Never mind, let your brother calm down. Let's go take a nap first."

Cen Xi chuckled and pinched her cheek before going back to his room to sleep.

There's no way to warm up in winter; it's just too cold. The only way is to crawl into bed for a little warmth.

Just after 3 PM, Cen Xi heard the sound of gongs and drums outside.

Cen Xi knew that this must be a wedding procession, and she was overjoyed. Fortunately, the philanthropist Wang was kind enough to actually agree to take her as his wife tonight.

That's great, it seems she's about to rise from the ashes and sing her own praises.

Tonight, I might be sleeping soundly under a soft blanket by the fire.

Happiness came so suddenly that Cen Xi was so happy that she quickly got out of bed, dressed, grabbed the things she had packed that morning, and, holding Xiao Yu, hurriedly opened the front door of her house.

“Madam Liu, the philanthropist Wang has agreed to your conditions. He said he had seen you before and had long harbored feelings for you, but since you are married, he cannot force you.”

“Now that your husband has died young, he finally has his chance. He asked me to tell you that once you enter the house, you are his woman, and he will give you whatever you want and never divorce you.”

As soon as Cen Xi opened the door, she ran into the two people who had helped her propose marriage that morning. They greeted her with beaming smiles.

"Great! It's good that he agreed! How do I get to the Wang family? Where are the people to fetch the bride?"

Cen Xi was filled with excitement, her eyes constantly glancing at the people who were there to pick up the bride.

"Miss Liu, you can rest assured that we'll handle things! If you become successful in the future, don't forget to let us two brothers introduce you to us!"

"Of course, I will definitely speak highly of you in front of Mr. Wang, and you can just collect your reward money afterwards."

Cen Xi watched the two people flattering her with a smile.

"Then thank you very much, Madam Liu."

The two men exchanged a glance, their eyes holding an indescribable smile.

"Where is the sedan chair?"

Cen Xi looked around but didn't see anything, so she had to ask the two people.

“The mountain road is bumpy, and it has just snowed, so it’s not easy to travel. What Wang the philanthropist means is that you should just take a horse-drawn carriage.”

One of the two men interrupted.

"Oh, I see! That's fine!"

Cen Xi clearly sensed that the two were plotting something, but she didn't intend to expose them.
