Chapter 125 The Invisible Tenderness
This made Lu Zhenyu even more curious.
But the man seemed unwilling to let her continue questioning him. He wrung out his clean hair and gently dried it from the roots with a towel.
He stopped talking, and Lu Zhenyu consciously ended the conversation, reaching out to take the bath towel. "Thank you, I can do this, don't trouble yourself."
Man, "Shall I take you back to the bedroom?"
Lu Zhenyu said, "Could you lend me your arm instead?"
Letting the other person carry you in a princess carry feels like interfering in someone else's faithful love.
She took his arm under his shirt and slowly and methodically returned to the bedroom.
The man didn't leave until he had settled her in.
"If you need any help later, just call me. I'll hear you if you knock on the wall."
The balconies of the two suites are connected, separated by an iron railing, and the bedrooms are also adjacent to each other.
Lu Zhenyu sincerely thanked the man, "If there's a chance tomorrow, I'll treat you to dinner."
"No need to be so polite."
He left those words behind and then departed.
Until the door completely shut out the sound of footsteps.
This probably means a rejection.
Lu Zhenyu raised an eyebrow in the dim light, not caring at all.
He fumbled for his phone by the bedside and asked Sir to help him call Yaya and the others.
I was fast asleep and didn't answer.
Sure enough, she knew they were unreliable. Luckily, she met a fellow countryman, otherwise she would have been in big trouble tonight.
Unable to see anything clearly to the left or right, Lu Zhenyu dried her hair until it was half dry and then went to sleep.
The presidential suite was brightly lit by several flashlights, and the curtains were drawn tightly shut.
Wang Lin stood in front of a group of subordinates and asked, "How's the investigation going at the awards ceremony?"
"I led my brothers to check the area five times, inside and out, to make sure there wouldn't be any problems."
Even so, based on past experience, Wang Lin did not dare to be careless. "We'll continue tomorrow morning. This time, we really can't let what happened last March happen again."
After his subordinates left, he walked over and sat down on the sofa opposite Wang Kai.
He took a sip of water, frowned, and said, "I was wondering what kind of thing Chen is up to, coming to Sweden to receive some kind of award for best contribution to peace."
Wang Kai, who was handling his work remotely, chuckled twice and stole a glance at the tightly closed door across the room.
"Are you stupid? The boss isn't here to receive any award; he just wants to take this opportunity to see his wife."
Thinking back to how the man rushed out without a second thought when the power went out, Wang Lin pursed his lips and shook his head. "Alas, what a pity for lovers in this world."
Having a lover of many years right in front of you, yet unable to recognize them, would break your heart if it were you.
Looking at the quiet bedroom, Wang Kai sighed, "There's nothing we can do. The boss has always felt guilty towards his wife. You've seen it all these past four years. Every time, he would travel a long way to catch a glimpse of her from a distance, then leave without disturbing her."
"The boss didn't want to disturb his wife's rare peaceful life."
In the pitch-black bedroom, a figure sat motionless at the foot of the bed.
In the darkness, his eyes blinked occasionally, and the warmth of the girl's skin seemed to linger between his stroking fingertips.
"Clang!"
"Splash."
This apartment is really not soundproof.
The noise from next door could be heard in the living room.
Before the two people on the sofa could even look up, a dark figure darted out.
The two of them looked at each other.
"Did someone just go out?"
"It seems to be a meeting in Shenzhen."
With a wide-eyed stare, they quickly gave chase.
Shen Jingsi rushed to the tightly closed door and knocked twice.
In the living room, Lu Zhenyu, slumped amidst the broken ceramic tiles, tensed up, "Who!"
The hand in front of the door paused.
Shen Jingsi, regaining his senses, stood there with his mouth half-open.
Wang Kai, who had followed, reacted quickly, "Housekeeper, do you need any assistance?"
Just as she was wondering what to do, Lu Zhenyu quickly called out, "Yes, I need to. I broke the vase. Can you have someone come in and clean it up?"
Are you injured?
"I just fell on my butt, it's nothing."
"Okay, please wait a moment."
About two minutes later, the door was opened by swiping a card.
Lu Zhenyu heard many feet walking towards her.
"Um, I can't see clearly, could someone please help me up..."
Before he could finish speaking, he was swept up in his arms and carried horizontally.
Along with the familiar aura came a deep, gentle male voice, "Don't be afraid, it's me again."
Lu Zhenyu wasn't afraid; she chose this hotel precisely because of its good security.
"Sorry, did I wake you up again? I was a little thirsty and wanted to come out for a drink of water, but I didn't expect to be ambushed by the vase."
The man seemed to laugh, she wasn't sure, but his tone sounded much gentler, "You have a good sense of humor."
Lu Zhenyu smiled, her fox-like eyes unfocused in the hazy moonlight, her pale red lips making her smile captivating.
"I do have many strengths, except for night blindness."
He put her back on the sofa, casually placed a cushion behind his waist, and took the water that Wang Kai handed him, feeling the coolness under his fingertips.
Wang Kai shrank back at the subconsciously displeased look, and just as he was about to go get another cup, he realized that the battery was dead.
It's likely that Shen Jingsi realized this as well, because he held the water glass in his palm for a while.
The reality was that his hands were colder than water.
He pulled the girl's arm and placed the cup in his warm palm. "Warm it up for a while before drinking; it's a bit cold."
"Thanks."
Lu Zhenyu was really thirsty and drank it all in a few gulps.
Before she could speak, he asked, "How did you get night blindness?"
This wasn't a private matter, Lu Zhenyu answered frankly, "The doctor said it was due to a long-term picky eating habit that led to nutritional deficiencies."
Have you consulted an expert?
"It's not serious. With a year or two of treatment, it will gradually get better."
Shen Jingsi, "Are you a picky eater?"
The tone carried a hint of elder's authority, and Lu Zhenyu licked her lips, "Mmm."
The man then asked, "So what don't you like to eat now?"
"..." Lu Zhenyu felt even more uneasy. Are all the big shots in China this talkative?
But out of politeness, she answered, "Carrots, eggs, milk, animal liver, shrimp, fish, and seafood, these..."
"You like them all?"
I don't like any of them.
Shen Jingsi, "..."
One sentence completely shut him up, leaving only the sound of sweeping debris at the doorway.
After a moment of silence, Lu Zhenyu spoke with a half-smile, "Have you ever seen anyone pickier than me?"
The man was sitting on the single sofa to her right. "No, I just thought that my wife doesn't eat shrimp either."
Lu Zhenyu, "She's also allergic to seafood?"
A soft "Mm" came from the other end.
Lu Zhenyu expressed deep sympathy, saying, "That must be quite painful. People like us basically want to eat but can't. We believe in staying away from what we can't have and wish we could never see it again in this lifetime."
In the dim light of the night, his deep eyes flickered for a fleeting moment before Shen Jingsi fixed his gaze on him. "Is that so?"
The girl nodded seriously, "That's right, because it's too painful to see that I can't eat it. So I guess that shrimp is basically not a dish on your family's dining table."
After a moment of silence, Shen Jingsi lowered his eyes and said, "It happens often."
Lu Zhenyu was stunned for a moment, then heard, "Before, we all thought she liked to eat it, but in the end we found out that she secretly peeled it for me."
Night blindness doesn't mean you can't see anything at all; you can still see faint images. That's why she could sense that the man's gaze was on her when he said those words.
"Then it seems your wife truly loves you."
Staring intently at her face, shrouded in the hazy moonlight, Shen Jingsi knew he had no right to look at her so closely for four years. If it weren't for the power outage tonight, he knew he wouldn't have been qualified to see her like this.
His gaze grew increasingly tender, almost dripping with affection. "If it were you, would you peel shrimp for the person you love?"
The girl lowered her eyes and thought for a moment, then gave a reply that surprised Shen Jingsi: "Probably not."
"Why?"
The girl's gaze gradually narrowed, and as some memories surfaced, a bittersweet smile appeared on her face.
"There's no reason why, I just hate peeling shrimp."
After she finished speaking, the man opposite her was silent for a moment, then chuckled, "That's good, I'll have him peel them for you from now on."
The vibration coming from the bedroom interrupted Lu Zhenyu. "It should be my family member. Can you help me get it?"
Shen Jingsi, who had entered the bedroom, found his phone and glanced at the contact name, his eyes narrowing.
The phone was shoved directly to her ear, and Lu Zhenyu looked up and asked, "Who's the contact name?"
The other end of the line answered her: "It's me, Feng Jinzhou."
