Chapter 93 Both of them trembled slightly at the same time
When you're thinking about things, you unknowingly fall behind.
Duan Gan, who was walking ahead, stopped and turned to look at her after a long time when she hadn't caught up.
"Tao Tao".
"ah?"
Tao Tao looked up at him and was surprised to find that he was already walking in front of her, so she quickly walked over.
He frowned slightly, stopped in his tracks, as if sizing her up: "Don't get distracted."
She paused for a moment, then nodded: "Okay."
Only after she reached his side did he move forward.
"What I actually wanted to tell you yesterday was that I found a dead body in Liang Yongsheng's shop, or more precisely, a stillborn baby, in a long box."
"His child?"
"I don't think so. He's not even married, so where would he have a child?"
The mountain path was full of rocks, so she lowered her head, lifted her skirt, and walked carefully.
The man suddenly slowed his pace, turned to the side and saw her stepping down the steep stone path, slowly making her way down. He reached out his hand to her.
Suddenly, a large, well-defined hand appeared right under Tao Tao's nose. She was startled and looked up at him.
Seeing his expression was indifferent, she placed her hand in his palm and used it to help her walk down.
"Thanks."
She thanked him and tried to pull her hand away, but couldn't.
She looked at him with a questioning gaze. He noticed the gaze beside him, but instead of looking at her, he said, "The road ahead is slippery and difficult to walk on, which will only waste time."
She thought about it and realized he was right, so she didn't pull her hand away.
Tao Tao didn't see that Duan Gan's ears were slightly red and his expressionless face was actually just a facade of composure.
After walking for a while, she began to have difficulty walking, and her breathing became slightly erratic.
"Sorry, stop..."
"No rush, let's stop and rest for a while."
She was about to speak when she heard him speak, and she immediately became happy. She wiped the sweat from her forehead with her sleeve, panting, and found a large rock to sit on.
He twitched his ears and heard the sound of flowing water nearby. After scanning his surroundings, he turned back to her and said, "There's a stream ahead. Let's rest there."
"good."
Upon hearing this, she immediately stood up.
The consequence of being too excited was that she lost her footing and fell face down to the ground, her eyes wide with panic, her pupils reflecting the uneven and sharp stones.
I couldn't help but think that if I fell, I would not only get bruises on my face, but I would also be very embarrassed.
Duan Gan, who was standing in front of her, moved to the side, and she pounced on him.
The impact of one person is considerable, but he stood firmly on his feet, without taking a single step back, and caught her in his arms in an instant.
However, this aggravated the injury on his right shoulder. He groaned and took a deep breath to adjust his breathing rhythm.
Tao Tao clung to his shoulders, panting heavily against his chest, her heart still pounding from the recent ordeal.
After a moment, she let go of his hand, looked up at him, and said gratefully, "Thank you, I'm so glad you caught me."
Suddenly, she noticed that his complexion was a little off. She quickly reached out and touched the wound on his right shoulder. Her fingertips were wet, and when she looked at them, she saw that they were blood.
The wound was reopened by her collision.
She bit her lower lip, a look of guilt appearing in her eyes, and supported him with both hands: "Which way does the stream go?"
The wound can only be treated when we get to a resting place.
"Go to the right."
After walking for about half an incense stick's time, the pleasant sound of flowing water reached their ears, and suddenly a clear stream appeared before them.
A refreshing scent wafted over, instantly relaxing everyone's mood.
Duan Gan sat on a rock by the stream, his clothes half-undone. Tao Tao squatted beside him, washing a handkerchief. After wetting it, she got up and came to him, handing him the handkerchief.
"Wipe your face?" She looked at his face, which had a few specks of ash.
You can see that he wiped it with a handkerchief, but there were still some areas that he didn't wipe.
Upon hearing this, he suddenly frowned. "Is it very dirty?"
Before she could respond, he took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped her wound again, not even sparing the injured area.
This time it was clean, but I went too far, and her cheeks turned red, and I even wiped the blood from her wound.
"Hey, be gentle, you're bleeding."
She was suddenly startled; she hadn't expected him to be so ruthless towards her.
I didn't see him being this germaphobic when we were in the cave.
He seemed not to hear, bent down to wash the handkerchief clean, wet it, wiped it on his face, and then put his hands in the water, carefully washing each finger.
Tao Tao couldn't bear to see the blood on his face, so she grabbed the silk handkerchief he had thrown aside and wiped his cheeks with it.
For some reason, Duan Gan suddenly looked away, his gaze falling on the handkerchief in her hand, a hint of disgust flashing in his eyes.
This left her completely bewildered, wondering what was wrong with this person now.
He hadn't accepted her handkerchief before, assuming she disliked the cotton handkerchief because it wasn't as soft and delicate as silk. Now that she was using his handkerchief, why was she still complaining?
Just as she was about to ask, she heard him say, "I just wiped my hands with this handkerchief, so I shouldn't touch my face with it."
"ah?"
She frowned in confusion.
If it's clean, why can't it be used? Yesterday, when he was unconscious, she used her own handkerchief to wipe his face first, and then placed it on his forehead to cool him down.
And it's rainwater; if he knew that, he'd be disgusted to death.
"All right."
Tao Tao cupped his face in her hands and wiped away the bloodstains with her fingertips, looking serious and focused.
Duan Gan was taken aback by her action and stared blankly at the face so close to his, as her soft fingertips gently stroked his cheek.
The icy touch landed on the skin, and although it was cool, each spot it touched felt like it was being set on fire, making that area of skin burn hot.
A sweet scent sprayed onto his face, slowly mingling with his breath.
His face inevitably flushed, his eyes shimmered as if they were wet with water, his breathing became rapid, his Adam's apple bobbed incessantly, and he felt as if ants were gnawing at his very bones, causing an unbearable itch.
Duan Gan's consciousness was hazy and confused, like someone who was drunk.
He felt like he had a fever again.
She was so close, it was hard not to notice his strange behavior.
She asked, puzzled, "What's wrong, Duan Gan?"
Looking at his flushed face, she opened her palm and placed it on his cheek, surprised: "Why is your face so hot? Are you running a fever again?"
Her sharply defined lips were so red they looked like they could drip blood, and her long, upturned eyes had a touch of allure. Her originally indifferent and aloof features now resembled a bewitching and seductive demon.
She stared at his expression and suddenly stopped.
"What medicine did you put on me?!"
His gaze suddenly sharpened, and he grabbed her wrist and pulled her forward.
Tao Tao was startled and quickly turned her face away, her lips brushing against his mouth. Suddenly, they both trembled slightly.
She felt as if she had been electrocuted, her mind racing.
