She saw that he had long hair loose and thought that she might have accidentally dropped it last night, so she turned around and went back to look for the hairpin he had left behind.
They found the brown jade hairpin with the lotus flower in the straw.

She handed the jade hairpin to him and pointed to his long hair that fell over his shoulders.
He looked down, seemingly lost in thought, and nodded when he looked up at her.

He looked up at her, the coldness in his eyes melting away, his gaze softening, and the corners of his lips curving upwards slightly.
Their eyes met, and she was stunned for a moment. Suddenly, she felt that he seemed a little different from before, as if he had become much gentler.
She shook her head, trying to dispel the sudden illusion.
The two walked out side by side.
