Chapter Fifty: Cracks

When they reached the top of the Dragon Tower, there were already many people standing there silently.

Albert turned around, saw them, and waved to them.

Li Ai Li and Arthur stood beside Albert.

Albert turned his head slightly. "After that, you tell me about Anyana."

"This is somewhat inappropriate for this occasion."

The emperor and empress, their faces veiled in black gauze, stood at the very front of the crowd.

Standing one step behind the Emperor and Empress on the left was Princess Anyana, dressed in a white nun's robe.

That white monk's robe was absolutely gorgeous.

The gold thread embroidery on the edges is a skill only the spirits of the sun and moon possess.

Arthur looked at Anyana's white nun's robe, his eyes darkening as he nodded.

What caught Li Aili's attention was a mother and son standing on the other side of the Emperor and Empress.

The mother kept silently shedding tears, wiping them from the corners of her eyes from time to time.

Her son clung tightly to his mother's waist, trying to support her with his frail body.

The rain has stopped.

But the night sky remained overcast, with not a single star in sight.

The pillar that had sustained the empire had collapsed, and it seemed even the Dragon God wept for the departed heroes.

Under the cover of night, a group of dragon knights escorted the coffin toward the Dragon Tower.

Several giant dragons landed on the Dragon Tower one after another.

Prince Alex and Prince William carried the coffin down.

The pitch-black coffin was covered with a blue holy dragon banner.

The emperor and empress walked toward them, about to speak.

Then, Prince Caesar's only son darted over like a little firecracker.

He was like a vicious wolf cub, biting Alex's hand hard.

Albert reacted quickly, grabbing the child by the collar almost instantly and pulling him back.

Prince Caesar's only son glared hatefully at Prince Alex.

"It's all your fault! Papa argued with you before he died, that's why he died!"

The Emperor and Empress took a deep breath, "Achille!"

The Emperor and Empress looked at the Princess behind them.

The princess just stared blankly at the coffin, her eyes vacant.

The person she loved lay inside, separated by life and death.

She ignored the noise from the outside world.

She stepped forward, but not to take her own child back.

"Could you open the coffin? I want to... see him again."

Alex's lips trembled, and he shook his head slightly.

The princess looked down at the coffin, "But...I am his wife..."

"How can you not let a wife see her husband one last time..." the princess murmured.

Prince William gave the Emperor and Empress a wink.

The Emperor and Empress pulled Princess Bernadette aside, saying, "Bernadette, let's go to Valhalla first. You will be able to meet there."

After the Emperor and Empress pulled the Princess away, Li Aili only heard the two princes whispering, "The body must be cremated. Bernadette must not see it."
