Chapter Seventy-Two: The Evil Dragon God

One day ago, in the Council Hall.

Albert buried himself in the mountain of parchment scrolls piled on the table.

Sophia wore silver-white mithril rune armor, one hand resting on the hilt of her knight's longsword.

She entered the council hall. "Albert, I need to go to the snowy region."

The sound of the quill pen gliding across parchment paused.

Albert raised his head, his eyes as calm as still water.

"Have you made up your mind?"

Sophia looked back at him.

The answer to the question was given silently by his gaze.

Albert nodded. "Then let's go."

Then he turned his gaze away and continued to annotate the spread-out files.

Sophia turned around, her bright red cloak billowing in the wind.

Until her figure disappeared from the council hall.

Albert's dragon poked its head out of his arms.

Even as a young dragon, Gilman Norton was a uniquely ugly one.

Gilman Norton looked out the window until a giant dragon flew away, then he casually remarked:

"I thought you would offer Sophia some advice."

"Just like when you were a child, you would often try to save people who had no 'future'."

Albert signed a bill.

People always grow up.

Gilman Norton said with a wicked grin, "Oh? Actually, in a few of the 3,421 timelines I've seen, Sophia survived."

"If you put in some effort, it is possible..."

Albert interrupted Gilmanoa, saying, “Rather than spending a lot of effort to keep someone who doesn’t believe in me or follow me, I’d rather spend more effort protecting those who support me.”

Gilmanoa jumped out of his arms. "Sometimes, I think you're more of a cold-blooded animal than I am."

Albert remained silent on the matter.

"Where are your father and mother?" The ugly little dragon paced back and forth on the table. "Tick-tock, tick-tock..."

He imitated the sound of time passing.

"Their death is drawing ever closer."

Albert calmly reviewed the files.

"My father followed the Dragon God."

"The Dragon God chose death."

"He knew that the Dragon God had chosen death, yet he still followed the Dragon God."

"I simply respect his choice."

Gilman Norton raised his hind legs and nudged his chin with his paw.

Albert put down the quill, picked it up, and gently scratched his chin.

The drab, grayish-brown clown dragon squinted its eyes contentedly. "And what about your mother?"

Albert stood up and walked to the window.

The Emperor has set out again to resolve the spatial rift in the Gem Dragon's habitat.

The emperor and empress planted roses in the garden.

Standing in front of this window in the Council Hall, you can just see the rose garden.

There was a time when emperors loved to stand here, listening to their ministers report on state affairs while glancing at their wives in the garden.

Now, Albert stands here.

Looking at his mother...

The Emperor and Empress chatted and laughed with Li Aili, who was holding a baby jade dragon.

Albert said softly, "Mother loved Father too much."

"If her father is not here, forcing her to stay in this world would be torture for her."

Gilman Norton flew off his arms.

His pair of gray wings, which looked just like those of a moth, were waving and waving.

Then, spacetime was torn apart, and Gilmanoa in his dragon form disappeared into the spacetime rift.

A huge, ugly dragon head poked half of its head out from the space-time rift.

That ugly head was covered in bloody wounds.

The adult version of Gilman Norton weakly said to Albert:

"The Valkyrie has fallen."

"Another new god has been born, the Evil Dragon God, who has ended the Holy Dragon."

After saying this, the battle-damaged dragon slowly retracted its head.

The young version of Gilman Norton flew back from the spacetime rift.

Just then, footsteps were heard outside the hall.

Still shaken, Gilman Norton immediately plunged into his desk drawer.

Albert glanced at the drawer, and his brow twitched.

Victoria entered the council chamber. "Albert, do you know where Princess Sophia went?"

Albert raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at Victoria, who had a worried expression.

"What's wrong?" He himself didn't realize that his voice had unconsciously softened.

"Ah, I just ran into her in the hallway. She said out of the blue... that she asked me to look after Winter Wolf for her."

"I feel something's off."

Albert looked at her calmly. "So what was your answer?"

Vidorua said, "Of course I agreed."

Albert nodded. "Okay, I understand."

"Is there anything else?" he asked.

Victoria glanced at the mountain of documents piled up behind him.

Albert waited patiently.

“Albert, you’ll be 26 tomorrow,” she said dryly.

Albert looked down at her.

"Could you take tomorrow off?"

"I mean, it seems like you haven't gone out to relax in ages..."

"Um, I think it's about balancing work and rest... um, no, I..."

The more she explained, the more nervous she became; her fingers were practically twisted into a pretzel behind her back.

Albert said, “Victoria.”

Victoria looked at him. "I'm here, Your Highness!"

Albert looked at her and said softly, "I won't see them again."

"Please pass on this message to those girls."

"Tell them not to wait for me."
