Chapter 148 Interception Adjustment
After Su Wanqing and Lin Che left the laboratory, Lu Zhao's voice immediately came through the communicator.
"Su Wanqing, I have some discoveries here."
“What did you find?” Su Wanqing quickened her pace and tried to keep a distance from Lin Che. Their actions just now must have alerted the rebels.
"There was an anomaly in the rebels' internal communications. I used the jamming equipment on the RV and successfully infiltrated the Poison Spider's communication frequency band."
There was a hint of excitement in Lu Zhao's voice, "I intercepted part of the content."
"What's the content?" Su Wanqing frowned. She felt that the situation was becoming more and more complicated.
"Venomous Spider seems to be planning an action against Allen. The details are still being analyzed, but judging from the focus of the conversation, she seems to be preparing an assassination. The laboratory... was mentioned many times." Lu Zhao said quickly, "This laboratory should not be the one we are in now."
"Assassination?" Su Wanqing repeated in a low voice. There was indeed a conflict of interest between Allen and Poison Spider.
"Keep listening and get more information."
Lu Zhao responded, and then there was silence for a while, and then a clearer voice was heard.
His tone became serious. "I have rearranged the signal source and locked onto the location of the real core laboratory of the Venomous Spider. The coordinates have been sent to your communicator, along with the structure diagram of the laboratory."
Su Wanqing turned on the communicator, and a red mark immediately appeared on the map, marking a building hidden deep in the rebel camp.
"This location... is much more hidden than what we have seen before."
"There is one more thing." Lu Zhao's voice became low. "The communication also mentioned an experimental project related to the pendant sample, called 'remote control'. I don't know the details yet, but I feel... it's not good."
Su Wanqing's heart was alert. Remote control? Pendant? The combination of these two words made her feel uneasy.
"Lu Zhao, be sure to strengthen monitoring and find out the details of this 'remote control' experiment. From now on, all information about the pendant must be reported to me immediately."
"Understood." Lu Zhao replied, "I will continue to analyze the data in the RV."
Meanwhile, Lin Che remained silent. He could sense that Lu Zhao had not said all he wanted to say, and that he seemed to know much more about the pendant than Su Wanqing had imagined.
He turned his head to look at the silent girl beside him. The girl was holding an object wrapped in cloth tightly, as if protecting something.
Lu Zhao's voice sounded again, interrupting Lin Che's thoughts. "Su Wanqing, I found a strange phenomenon. That girl...she seems to interact with Lin Che more frequently. She refused to communicate with me, but took the initiative to ask Lin Che about the status of the pendant."
Su Wanqing frowned even more tightly. She glanced back and forth between Lin Che and the girl, and a hint of doubt rose in her heart.
The girl's identity remains a mystery, and her interest in the pendant seems to go beyond the scope of an ordinary survivor.
"Lin Che," Su Wanqing walked up to Lin Che and asked in a low voice, "Have you ever asked about the origin of her pendant?"
Lin Che hesitated for a moment and replied, "I asked tentatively, but she was vague and avoided the topic."
Su Wanqing's eyes became deep. The pendant, the poisonous spider's assassination plan, and the girl's mysterious identity, these clues seemed unrelated, but they vaguely pointed to a hidden conspiracy.
"Ms. Su," the assistant suddenly said in the communicator, "the laboratory alarm has been lifted, but the data from the instrument shows that the activity of the experimental samples is gradually recovering."
Su Wanqing took a deep breath and forced herself to suppress the uneasiness in her heart. She knew that now was not the time to pursue these things, and the first priority was to ensure the safety of the team.
"Lu Zhao, provide me with a safe route around the rebel camp immediately."
Lu Zhao responded, and soon a detailed route map was sent over.
Su Wanqing studied the map carefully. She needed to find a safe and hidden evacuation route to take everyone away from here.
Lu Zhao's voice sounded again in the communicator, with a hint of worry.
"Su Wanqing, I've observed that the rebels' patrol frequency is increasing. They seem to have discovered our tracks."
"Act immediately and be careful." Su Wanqing said.
She turned her head and looked at the girl beside Lin Che. The girl's face was pale and her eyes were full of fear.
She held the object in her hand tightly, as if her entire life was contained in it.
"Are you okay?" Lin Che asked softly.
The girl shook her head and said nothing. Her eyes were fixed on Lin Che, as if begging for his help.
"We have to leave." Su Wanqing said. She knew that they could no longer stay here.
Just as they were about to leave, the girl suddenly raised her head and said in a hollow voice: "It...it's back."
This sentence stunned everyone. Su Wanqing frowned, she didn't understand what the girl was talking about.
"It? What's back?" she asked.
The girl's expression became more excited, and she held the object in her hand tightly, as if she wanted to hide it in her body.
"It...it's always there. It's always been there...guarding me."
Lin Che's brows also furrowed. He could sense that the girl's tone was filled with fear and confusion.
He knew that the girl's identity must be hiding some unknown secret.
"Let's go!" Su Wanqing ordered. She didn't want to waste any more time.
Just as they were about to leave, the girl suddenly broke free from Lin Che’s restraints.
She rushed to the corner of the room, hugged the items in her hands tightly in her arms, then collapsed on the ground and cried helplessly.
Lu Zhao's voice came again, with a hint of anxiety. "Su Wanqing, I found that the rebels' surveillance system is scanning this area. They have discovered our tracks and are surrounding us."
Su Wanqing's heart beat faster, she knew that they had no time left.
She had to make a decision immediately, otherwise they would likely be in dire straits.
"Su Wanqing, is our current location safe?" Lu Zhao's voice came through the communicator, with a hint of barely perceptible nervousness.
"It's safe for now. The rebels should still be searching for us and won't chase us right away."
Su Wanqing answered and looked around. It was an abandoned warehouse that could barely shelter from wind and rain and also had some defensive conditions.
The vent was very small, and when Lin Che finally got out, his back was scratched. He pursed his lips and made no sound.
The girl followed closely out, her face pale, her hands unconsciously protecting the cloth bag in her arms.
"Let's check everyone's injuries first." Su Wanqing said, her eyes fell on the girl, "How are you?"
The girl shook her head and said nothing.
"Lu Zhao, report the situation."
"The rebels are still expanding their search area. Communications interference is severe, and I can only receive some information intermittently. However, based on the fragments I intercepted, the poisonous spider seems to be very annoyed by our escape."
Lu Zhao's tone was heavy, "She ordered us to be arrested at all costs."
Su Wanqing frowned slightly. The poisonous spider was more cunning and dangerous than she expected.
"Lin Che, how do you feel? Is there any movement over there at night?"
Lin Che was silent for a moment before he slowly said, “I… I felt that when we were evacuating just now, the pendant seemed to… fluctuate.”
"Fluctuation?" Su Wanqing asked immediately, "What does that mean?"
“It’s hard to describe, it’s like a sudden surge of energy that hits my mind.”
Lin Che lowered his head and rubbed his temples gently with his fingers. "I can feel Ye's alertness. He...seems to be warning me to stay away from the pendant."
Su Wanqing's heart suddenly tightened. Ye had always been highly vigilant about the pendant, and now his warning further confirmed the potential danger of the pendant.
"What kind of warning is this?"
Lin Che shook her head. “It wasn’t words, it was more like… an emotion. A strong, unquestionable warning. He told me… not to get close.”
The girl suddenly screamed, covered her ears with her hands, and curled up into a ball.
