Chapter 90 Night's Hidden Plan
Su Wanqing frowned. Ye's words were like a stone thrown into a calm lake, causing ripples.
Could it be that all their efforts and adventures along the way had fallen into a carefully designed trap?
She looked at Lin Che. At this moment, Lin Che was still in that empty state, with purple hair scattered messily on his shoulders, like an exquisite puppet.
"You said that the location and time we were allowed to access the core data was intentional by the base?"
Su Wanqing's voice trembled slightly.
Ye's voice came out of Lin Che's mouth, still so cold and rational.
"It's very likely. They won't let us get close unless they want us to see the data. The data might be bait."
Lu Zhao pushed his glasses and analyzed calmly: "If this is true, what is their purpose in doing so? Do they want to use us to find the antidote for the virus and then control the situation? Or do they have other plans?"
"The purpose is not important. What is important is that we can no longer follow their script."
Ye's voice was firm and decisive. "Continuing to pursue those clues will only lead us step by step into the abyss."
Professor Yang had been silent the whole time, but now he could not help but speak: "Then...then what should we do? Should we give up the information we have and start from scratch?"
"No, not from the beginning." Ye's voice contained a hint of barely perceptible excitement.
"We need to change direction. The mutation of the virus is not accidental. There must be some source behind it, some factor that can control the mutation. Finding it and cutting it off are the keys to solving the problem."
Su Wanqing felt uneasy. Ye's intelligence was indeed valuable, but what was his real motive? He had always emphasized protecting Lin Che. Could it be that Lin Che was hiding some secret? "You... do you know the source of the virus mutation?" Su Wanqing asked tentatively.
Ye was silent for a moment, then slowly said: "I have come across some blocked experimental content, which involves the origin and mutation mechanism of the virus. But I need more resources and more permissions to restore that information."
"What resources?" Lu Zhao asked.
"Laboratory equipment, data storage, and... protection for Lin Che."
Ye's voice once again emphasized the importance of Lin Che. "Only through his existence can we finally find the ultimate solution to the virus."
Su Wanqing felt a headache. Ye's demands were becoming more and more excessive. He seemed to regard Lin Che as a key tool, a key to solve the mystery.
She couldn’t be sure of Ye’s true purpose, but she knew that Lin Che’s safety was of vital importance.
"Ye, what exactly do you want to do?" Su Wanqing asked, her voice containing a hint of warning.
"I need to know your true intentions."
Ye did not answer directly, but said calmly: "My goal is simple, which is to find a solution to the virus and save the world. As for my means, it is not important."
Su Wanqing felt even more uneasy. Ye's answer was ambiguous and hard to understand.
She began to consider whether she needed to activate the system’s correction procedure and temporarily separate Lin Che to verify whether there were more hidden dangers in Ye’s independent part.
"Wait." Lu Zhao suddenly spoke, interrupting Su Wanqing's thoughts.
“The most important thing for us now is to confirm whether Ye’s intelligence is reliable.
If his information was false, we could have wasted valuable time or even ended up in a more dangerous situation.”
"I agree." Su Wanqing nodded. "We need to find some evidence to verify Ye's statement."
"I can try to hack into the base's surveillance system and see if I can find some useful information."
Lu Zhao said. "But it takes time and is very risky."
"Go ahead." Su Wanqing said. "We have to find out the truth as soon as possible."
Lu Zhao began to operate the decoder in his hand. His fingers tapped quickly on the keyboard, and dense codes scrolled on the screen.
Su Wanqing walked to Lin Che's side and gently stroked his hair.
"Che, can you hear me?" Su Wanqing asked softly.
Lin Che did not respond, his eyes were still empty and blank. Su Wanqing felt distressed.
She knew that the existence of the night was a torture for Lin Che, but he could not control his body.
"Ye, what did you do to Lin Che?" Su Wanqing asked, her voice tinged with anger.
"I'm just taking advantage of his abilities," Night's voice said coldly.
"He has a strong spiritual power that can help us find the source of the virus. This is also a kind of redemption for him."
"Redemption?" Su Wanqing sneered. "You mean redemption, turning him into a puppet?"
Ye did not answer, but remained silent.
Suddenly, the communicator rang. It was Xiao Ran's voice.
"Su Wanqing, I've discovered some new situations." Xiao Ran's voice sounded a little hurried.
"While I was luring away the infected, I discovered a hidden surveillance room. I quickly hijacked its data and unexpectedly discovered that some of the infected seemed to be under manual control."
"Manual control?" Su Wanqing exclaimed. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure." Xiao Ran said. "I secretly passed this information to you via wireless signal, and suggested that you prioritize investigating the specific location of the isolation area operation room."
"Okay, I understand." Su Wanqing said. "Thank you, Xiao Ran."
"You're welcome." Xiao Ran said. "I just did what I should do."
Su Wanqing hung up the communicator and turned to look at Lu Zhao and Professor Yang.
"It seems that Ye's intelligence is credible." Su Wanqing said. "The infected bodies are indeed under artificial control, and the source of their control is likely in the isolation area operation room."
Lu Zhao raised his head and said, "I hacked into the base's surveillance system and found the location of the quarantine area's operating room. It's located on the third floor underground and is heavily guarded."
"We have to go there," Su Wanqing said. "But we have to be fully prepared."
Professor Yang said in a trembling voice: "I... I'm afraid I can't help you. I'm old and I don't have the strength to do it."
"You just need to protect the data." Su Wanqing said.
“Data is more important than anything else.”
"Okay, I'll try my best." Professor Yang nodded.
Su Wanqing took a deep breath and made up her mind. She knew that the road to the isolation area operation room was full of dangers, but she had to go.
In order to save the world and to find out the truth about the virus, she must take this risk.
"Lu Zhao, you are responsible for cracking the security system of the isolation area operation room."
Su Wanqing said. "Xiao Ran, you are responsible for attracting the attention of the infected body.
Ye and I went into the operating room together to look for the source of the virus."
"Understood." Lu Zhao and Xiao Ran responded at the same time.
Su Wanqing looked at Lin Che again, his eyes were still empty and blank.
She gently held his hand and said, "Che, I will protect you."
Ye's voice came out from Lin Che's mouth, with a barely perceptible hint of coldness.
"Don't worry, I won't put you in danger."
Su Wanqing felt uneasy.
