Chapter 379 Brother Will Never Abandon You

The driver looked at him deeply before saying, "Okay."

The two exchanged money on the spot. Jiang Zhen gave one to Jiang Bi and said to her, "Take this money and go to that restaurant to buy two meals."

Jiang Bi held the money and asked quietly, "What about you, brother?"

"I'll wait for you here."

Jiang Bi hesitated for a moment before obediently running to buy food. The people at the border all understood Vietnamese, so Jiang Bi quickly bought the food.

"Brother, here are the meals and change for you." Jiang Bi handed over the change obediently.

Jiang Zhen took the money and asked Jiang Bi in front of the driver, "Boss, have you seen the money?"

Jiang Bi nodded and said, "I saw it."

Jiang Zhen glanced at the driver and said, "It's a pleasure to work with you." After confirming that the money the driver gave was not counterfeit, Jiang Zhen pulled Jiang Bi away.

The driver stared at Jiang Zhen's back, narrowed his eyes, and thought to himself: This little guy is young, but he's quite cautious.

Jiang Zhen and Jiang Bi were squatting beside a broken road to eat. They hadn't eaten for a whole day and were starving.

The driver looked at the brother and sister from a distance, a trace of emotion in his eyes as he thought of something. He walked towards them with a bottle of water.

Seeing the driver approaching them, Jiang Zhen subconsciously moved in front of his sister and hid her behind him. "What are you doing?" Jiang Zhen's dark eyes were like those of a wolf cub, fierce and cruel.

The driver looked down at Jiang Zhen and suddenly said, "Boy, did you commit a crime in Yue State?"

Jiang Zhen's eyes flashed quickly, but he said nothing.

Jiang Zhen, who is only ten years old, is smart but not very cunning. He does not know how to bide his time or disguise himself.

"I've been a driver for over ten years and have carried a lot of people. I can see clearly which ones are sneaking in to work and which ones are trying to escape."

Jiang Zhen looked at him silently, pursing his lips.

After a while, he asked in a hoarse voice, "Are you going to take me back and hand me over to the police?"

"Heh..." Duan Wuyang shook his head, "Why would I arrest you? Boy, you're carrying a burden with you. What are you going to do in the future? You're still a kid yourself."

Jiang Zhen couldn't answer.

He didn't know what to do in the future. He only knew that if he didn't take his sister away, her life would be over.

"You know, here, a kid your age usually has only two outcomes." Duan Wuyang squatted down in front of Jiang Zhen. He stared into Jiang Zhen's fearless black eyes and said with a raised lip, "Either die or be sold."

Jiang Zhen knew that what Duan Wuyang said was true.

He and his sister were sold to their adoptive father. As for death...

He also knew it was true.

They might starve to death or be beaten to death.

Jiang Zhen clenched the disposable food bag in his hand and said in a hoarse voice, "Please, show me a way out." This person suddenly found him, and he probably wanted to do more than just intimidate him.

Duan Wuyang couldn't help but laugh when he saw that Jiang Zhen had quickly guessed his purpose, "You are such a smart kid."

Jiang Zhen remained silent.

Duan Wuyang said, "I know a boxing gym. You can go there with me to train. It will be painful, but at least you can have something to eat."

Jiang Zhen noticed that Duan Wuyang was talking about 'you', and he subconsciously frowned and asked, "What about my sister?"

Duan Wuyang glanced at the girl behind Jiang Zhen. She was pretty, appeared to have good limbs, and seemed intelligent. "If you're willing, I can send her to an orphanage. While the food there is poor, at least there's food for her."

Jiang Zhen subconsciously refused, "I won't abandon her."

"Whatever you want." Duan Wuyang stood up and was about to leave. Before leaving, he said something more: "If you regret it one day, you can come to Nanxing City, the city that never sleeps, to find me."

Jiang Zhen stared at Duan Wuyang's departing figure, gritting his teeth. He turned back to see Jiang Bi, who was trembling with fear of being left behind, and frowned.

The little girl raised her unfinished meal with trembling hands and said with tears in her eyes, "I will eat less at every meal from now on. Brother, please don't abandon me."

Jiang Zhen finally couldn't help himself and hugged Jiang Bi. "What nonsense! I won't abandon you." Even if he had to beg on his knees, he would not abandon Jiang Bi.

Jiang Zhen knew that Nanxing City had a developed economy, so he took Jiang Bi to Nanxing City.

Nanxing City is the most prosperous city in the southwest. People here are well-dressed. Instead of bicycles, you can see electric scooters, motorcycles and cars everywhere on the streets.

Jiang Zhen and Jiang Bi stood on the crowded street, wearing dirty old clothes with the word "outsider" written on their bodies.

They only have five bills left.

Jiang Zhen didn't know what to do. He was too young to work. He started begging, but he couldn't even get 20 yuan a day.

The brother and sister spent a month in a daze. Not only did they spend all their money, but they also lost a lot of weight.

Jiang Zhen used his last dollar to buy two steamed buns. At that time, a small steamed bun was only fifty cents each.

Back at the temporary bridge hole, Jiang Zhen handed the smaller bun to Jiang Bi. Jiang Bi took it, chewed it, and swallowed it hard. Feeling a little cold, Jiang Bi moved closer to her brother.

It was raining outside, and the cardboard boxes used as floor mats inside the bridge were soaked. The brother and sister squatted on the wet cardboard. Jiang Zhen pulled Jiang Bi into his arms and asked, "Are you cold?"

On a night with a temperature of 16 or 17 degrees Celsius, Jiang Bi was still wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt. She shook her head, "It's not cold."
