Chapter 3: In order to survive, I chose to study hard.

They had always had a good relationship, but she often neglected her best friend's feelings because of Su Yan.

When she was completely infatuated, Xiao Chengzi did try to persuade her, but she never listened to her words, and eventually Xiao Chengzi gradually distanced herself from her.

She hesitated for a moment before dialing Xiao Chengzi's number. The other end answered quickly: "Hello, my sister, you finally answered the phone." Her voice was filled with helplessness.

"Mmm." Gu Luoxi's voice was a little sob-like. Hearing Xiao Chengzi's voice, she couldn't help but feel a little choked up.

"What's wrong? Did Su Yan make you angry again?" Xiao Chengzi seemed unfazed, obviously Gu Luoqi was like this often, but her tone still carried a hint of concern.

"Hmm." If it were Gu Luoqi in her true teenage years, she would have quickly begun to talk endlessly about her sadness, but she didn't. She just responded softly and then fell silent.

Little Orange noticed that this situation was very different from before, and her tone became more serious: "What exactly happened?"

"I'm fine now." Gu Luoqi wiped away her tears.

Unexpectedly, she held back her tears in front of her father and Su Yan, but couldn't hold them back in front of Xiao Chengzi.

"Oh, it's good that you're alright." Little Orange keenly noticed something, but wisely chose not to ask further. If she wanted to tell, she would have done so on her own.

Gu Luoqi was already quite sad, but she became even sadder after hearing what Xiao Chengzi said next.

Of course, the two kinds of sadness are completely different.

Little Orange asked in a friendly tone, "School's about to start, have you finished your homework?"

"Homework?" Gu Luoqi's mind was a little confused, then she remembered that she had returned to the age of seventeen, so she should definitely have to go to class.

And it wasn't just about attending classes; there was also the college entrance exam, which was her nightmare.

"You didn't just forget, did you? Holy crap, there are only four or five days left before school starts." Xiao Chengzi on the other end of the phone looked surprised and couldn't help but swear.

Xiao Chengzi's words were so revealing that Gu Luoqi was a little overwhelmed.

"Are you done?" Her expression was a little stiff. What kind of world is this? It's bad enough to be heartbroken, but to die inexplicably is bad enough, but to have to take the college entrance exam all over again inexplicably is bad enough.

“Isn’t that obvious? I just finished it yesterday.” Little Orange said proudly.

"Then why didn't you remind me sooner?" Gu Luoqi asked with a resentful expression.

"My God, didn't I remind you just a few days ago? You said Su Yan wanted to go out with you, and you'd hurry up in a few days. Turns out you just forgot." Xiao Chengzi looked like she was saying, "You brought this on yourself, so you can't blame me."

"Is there a lot of homework?" Gu Luoqi resigned herself to her fate.

She remembered that her high school homeroom teacher was very strict; if she didn't finish her homework, she was doomed.

"Nonsense, how could a soon-to-be senior in high school not have much homework? Are you out of your mind? I feel like something's off about you today." Xiao Chengzi found it a bit strange.

Gu Luoqi felt her head throb even more: "Please bring your homework to my house tomorrow, let's make an exception and help me with the workload."

"Gu Luoqi! Let me tell you, don't even think about it. I just finished it yesterday." Little Orange instantly bristled.

"Please, I'll kneel down and beg you, have pity on the child." Gu Luoqi looked dejected.

"No way!" Little Orange said firmly.

"We've had such a long friendship, how can you bear to refuse me? Back in the day..." Gu Luoqi rambled on and on.

She had temporarily forgotten the pain of heartbreak and was now gripped by the fear of being dominated by her homework.

"Let's break up. I don't want this relationship anymore." Xiao Chengzi interrupted Gu Luoqi's 'spell' directly, trying to solve the problem at its root.

"But I'm sick and very weak. If you don't come, something bad will happen to me." Gu Luoqi's breathing suddenly weakened as she spoke, looking as if she might die at any moment.

"Okay, okay, I really owe you something." Little Orange said helplessly.

"I knew you were the best." Gu Luoqi said with a gentle smile.

"Okay, I'm hanging up now, I'm going to eat." Little Orange hung up the phone as soon as she finished speaking, not giving Gu Luoqi any time to react.

Gu Luoqi silently tossed her phone onto the bed: "As expected, rice is more important than me."

She walked to her desk and looked at the mountain of books, feeling overwhelmed.

The book at the top had two eye-catching words: 'Mathematics'. She reached out and touched the cover, feeling a strange sense of satisfaction; it seemed like she hadn't touched this thing in a long time.

[Forced Awakening System, Work Hard and Study Diligently System has been activated, checking host qualifications—] A cold, emotionless voice rang in her mind.

The voice startled her, and she froze, her hand still: "Who are you?"

Wait… wasn’t that the sound she heard during her car accident? She had ignored it, thinking it was just her hallucination, but now everything told her that it clearly wasn’t.

[The body scan is complete; the result is: academic failure.] The voice did not answer her immediately.

Gu Luoqi became even more puzzled after hearing this.

After saying all that, the voice still answered her question: "I am the 'Earn Good Food and Study Hard' system, number 001. I will supervise your eating and studying from now on. Please do not slack off, host."

"A system?" Gu Luoqi was somewhat stunned. What was going on? Wasn't it from hell?

"Yes, I am a high-tech product. You can call me 001, host," the system continued.
