Chapter 241: Briefing

Chu Yao said goodbye to Xiao Huo and left the shelter.

When she went out, she noticed that there seemed to be a lot of newly built dilapidated houses near the pharmaceutical factory, and many wanderers from the wasteland gathered there.

What do these people mean, seeking asylum?

Chu Yao shook his head, got on his beloved little motorcycle, and turned into a cloud of dust and flew away.

Near the tavern in Lenghu Town, she found Shen Yu leaning against a broken wall and smoking.

"Why don't you come inside? Don't you feel hot?" Chu Yao parked the motorcycle next to him.

"There are too many people. At least I can get some fresh air outside." Chen Yu shrugged and put out the cigarette in the crack of the wall. "I thought you would reject me like before."

"Your people have been a great help, I have to thank you." Chu Yao locked the motorcycle and tilted his head towards the tavern: "Let's go, how about buying you a drink?"

"No thanks, I really don't want to go in."

"Okay, wait a minute then."

Chu Yao walked into the tavern on her own and came out soon with two drinks. The two of them rested in the shadow of the broken wall, their shadows stretching out long under the sunlight.

"Looks like a couple walking down the street." Chen Yu joked.

"What? Are you in love with me? If you give me a few warships, I might consider it."

"Please spare me." Chen Yu smiled helplessly. "I like younger ones."

"You keep calling me names all the time. You really don't know how to talk."

After so many twists and turns, the relationship between the two is more like comrades-in-arms who understand and respect each other.

"What should I call you now? The eldest son of the Shen family, or Xinghui's agent?"

"I don't think the two are contradictory. I am a junior of the Shen family and also Xinghui's agent on Lingyuan Star."

Chu Yao raised her eyebrows. "Finally, you're not hiding anything anymore? Now, can you tell me the real reason why you're helping Maowei? Don't try to fool me with the rhetoric of being an 'ally.'"

"Hmm..." Chen Yu seemed to really want to say that, but was blocked by Chu Yao's words.

He did not reply immediately, but turned his head to look at another place not far away.

Chu Yao followed his gaze and saw a disheveled homeless man sleeping soundly in a corner next to a garbage dump, with a small bowl next to his hand.

This is a beggar.

"What do you think of him?" Shen Yu asked.

"Poor guy who survived the war."

"Yes, a poor man. But there are always poor people like him in this world." Chen Yu walked forward, bent down and placed a few coins in the homeless man's small bowl. "Regardless of whether there is a war or not."

Chu Yao didn't answer and sipped her drink silently. Chen Yu looked like he had something else to say.

"When I was little, my father often took me to all kinds of high-end places." Chen Yu took out a cigarette and put it in his mouth, but did not light it. "Every time the reception staff looked down at us with smiles on their faces, my father would whisper in my ear: 'See? If you don't study hard, you will become like this in the future.'"

"Of course I understand that this is the advice that parents must give their children - but when I get to my age now, I find that some things are not what I imagined, and they should not be this way."

Chu Yao listened to his story with great interest.

"The Celestial Alliance advocates freedom, justice, and equality, just as those people in the Ministry of Education describe in their books, but the reality is far from that. Disparities in wealth, class, and power are everywhere. As long as the Grand Council and those interstellar corporations that monopolize various industries exist, there will be no true fairness in this world."

"These so-called upper classes only seek endless profits, using scraps of technology to provide the people with a false sense of security. But is there truly any peace?" Chen Yu sneered silently. "Look at the state of Lingyuan Star now. It's a wasteland, with millions displaced. All of this is caused by the Steel Dome Corporation's covetousness for the minerals on this planet."

While Shen Yu was speaking, Chu Yao drank the last sip of the drink in the cup, picked it up and shook it in the sunlight.

"So this is why you, Xinghui, are rebelling against the Alliance? It sounds like a difficult task. After all, your enemies are all the corporations."

"It's really difficult, but fortunately we have started." Shen Yu fumbled around on his body for a long time and finally found the lighter.

"The Starlight Organization is enormous... so enormous you can hardly imagine. Almost every planet the Celestials have set foot on bears traces of our presence. I am merely one of countless colleagues. This long war may last for millennia or even centuries, but Starlight is ready."

"So your goal is to overthrow the Alliance and all the corporations? And after that?"

“To find the path to true peace and equality.”

Chu Yao was silent for a moment. "Excuse me, your organization seems too idealistic. I don't think it will succeed at all."

"I knew you would say that." Chen Yu smiled. "But the world always needs dreamers, doesn't it?"

"So what you told me before, about helping your Shen family rise to power, was all a lie?"

"It's a mixture of truth and lies. This is my first time communicating with a psychic with recovery abilities, and I don't have much experience, so I'll try to calm you down first."

"Honestly, you're more likable when you're honest." Chu Yao placed the glass on the car seat, intending to return it later. "So, what's your reason for seeking an alliance with me?"

"It's just like what I said before. It's naturally the potential in you. To be honest, I was just betting on it at the beginning. This might be the first time Xinghui has cooperated with a psychic since its establishment."

Chen Yu lit up the cigarette and exhaled a puff of smoke. "Now it seems that my bet was right. You Maowei can actually make entropy weapons by yourselves. It is really beyond my expectation.

When I first arrived at Lingyuan, I was worried about the low strength of the branch here. Now that I have such a reliable ally, I don’t need to worry about future developments.”

"I don't think you need allies." Chu Yao curled her lips. "Don't you still have tanks and mechas?"

"Oh, speaking of this, I should thank you."

"What's the meaning?"

"Do you remember 'Xiao Nan'?" Chen Yu showed a mysterious smile on his face. "I'm not talking about the little robot in your company, but the 'Heart Core' you gave me before."

"?" Chu Yao didn't know what Chen Yu wanted to say. "You haven't already created that 'super artificial intelligence', have you?"

"It's still early, President Chu, would you like to come visit our base?" Chen Yu picked up the phone and glanced at it. "The answers you want are all there."

"Now that you've spoken, how can I disagree? Let's go."
