Chapter 41 Riding a Pheasant to Demand Money

Back home, Qiuqiu carried a small backpack and rode her pheasant to ask for money for disaster relief.

When the Grand Secretary heard that the Emperor had sent a little boy to ask for money, he laughed so hard he almost fell over.

"It's really hard on His Majesty. He's too embarrassed to force everyone, so how could he possibly get any money from a little kid? Hahaha!"

Before the Grand Chancellor could finish laughing, a servant came in to report: "Master, something terrible has happened! The little boy sent by the Emperor has come to our residence!"

The Grand Secretary said, "Look at you, what a panic you're in! She's just a child, what's there to be afraid of? Just find someone to deal with her."

Servant: "But, sir, she has His Majesty's imperial edict, saying that you must personally receive her!"

The Grand Secretary shook his head: "Alas! His Majesty even personally issued an imperial edict for this child! This old man will go and meet her!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Chiu Chiu rode her chicken into the Grand Secretary's room.

The Grand Secretary was always very clean, and he was very surprised to see a chicken enter the house.

Grand Secretary: "Where did this pheasant come from? Get it out of here! Get it out of here!"

This statement is a double entendre.

The Grand Secretary took advantage of Qiuqiu's young age and wanted to teach her a lesson.

He gave his servants a wink, signaling them to drive the chickens and people out together.

The servants picked up brooms and chased the chickens away together.

The pheasant jumped around, and Chiu Chiu, sitting on its back, wobbled and almost fell over.

The Grand Secretary thought that Qiuqiu would be so frightened that she would cry, so he gave up on the idea.

Unexpectedly, Qiuqiu produced an imperial edict.

She waved the imperial edict and said sternly, "Stop!"

The servants were stunned when they saw the imperial edict and immediately stopped.

Qiuqiu handed the imperial edict to a maid beside her and said, "Read it!"

The maidservant received the imperial edict with trepidation and read it aloud as instructed by Qiuqiu.

Everyone knelt down.

"By the grace of Heaven, the Emperor decrees: Qiu Qiu is hereby appointed as a special envoy to assist His Majesty in raising funds for disaster relief from the homes of loyal ministers. All officials must take this matter seriously! Seeing this imperial edict is as if seeing the Emperor himself! Treat Qiu Qiu with utmost hospitality, and anyone found to be perfunctory will be severely punished without exception!"

Chirp: "Did you hear that?"

Even the Grand Secretary had no choice but to respectfully reply, "Yes!"

Chiu Chiu looked around: "A proper treat? Where's the food? Where's the drink?"

The Grand Secretary said with a broad smile, "I will immediately instruct my servants to prepare!"

The Grand Secretary walked out of the room.

The servant asked nervously, "Master, what should we do?"

The Grand Secretary wiped the sweat from his brow and said, "I thought such a grand display meant she must have some special trick up her sleeve. Turns out she's just here to freeload."

The servant grinned and said, "Then I'll serve her the best food and drink."

The Grand Secretary waved his hand and said, "Hurry up! Make sure this little brat is well-fed and watered, and then send her away!"

servant: "Yes!"

Before long, all sorts of pastries, fruits, cold and hot dishes, and various cold drinks and snacks were served in front of Qiuqiu.

Chiu Chiu laughed happily, disregarding the rules, grabbing a chicken leg in one hand and a pastry in the other, eating while feeding her pheasant.

"Xiao Feng, eat more!"

The pheasant next to them obediently ate the food that Chirp offered.

After eating and drinking her fill, Chiu Chiu patted her little belly and let out a satisfied burp.

Chiu Chiu stretched, yawned, and lay down on the soft couch next to her, falling fast asleep.

The Grand Secretary and his servant exchanged a glance.

Servant: "Master, what should we do? Should we send her back?"

Grand Secretary: "Show her out! Take her home while she's asleep!"

The servant nodded, tiptoed to Qiuqiu, picked her up, and prepared to take her away.

Chiu Chiu sat up with a start.

[Is there something important I haven't taken care of? What am I here for again?]

The servants looked at Qiuqiu with trepidation.

The Grand Secretary tried to sneak away, but was stopped by Qiu Qiu.

Chirp: "You, stop right there!"

The Grand Secretary withdrew the foot he had just stepped out, and looked at Qiuqiu with a smile, saying, "I was just going out to see if there was anything good to take away for you?"

Chirp: "Oh, I'm full! Let's get down to business!"

The Grand Secretary thought to himself: Why is a little kid acting so serious?

Chiu Chiu went out and headed straight for the Grand Secretary's study with her pheasant.

Grand Chancellor: "The main gate is over there!"

Chiu Chiu turned around and asked, "Are you going to donate or not?"

The Grand Chancellor said, "Your Excellency, I would also like to donate! But I simply have no money!"

Without looking back, Chirp ran back to the study with the pheasant.

Once inside the study, Qiuqiu closed the door.

The Grand Secretary followed, panting, and told the servants to go back, saying he would deal with Qiu Qiu himself.

The Grand Secretary followed Qiuqiu into the study.

Chiu Chiu sat down in the chair with a serious expression and said, "Donate money!"

The Grand Secretary exclaimed, "My dear ancestor! Where would I get the money!"

Chuchu smiled and opened the mechanism in the Grand Secretary's study.

The mechanism door opened, revealing a room filled with glittering gold.

The Grand Secretary was so frightened that he quickly locked the study door from the inside.

The Grand Secretary: "My little ancestor, only I know this place. How did you find it?"

Chiu Chiu pointed to the gold bars piled up on the wall and asked, "Where did these come from?"

The Grand Secretary was so frightened he almost knelt down before Qiuqiu.

"Your Excellency, I'll donate, I'll donate, okay?"

Chirp: "How much should I donate?"

The Grand Secretary gritted his teeth and said, "Half of this!"

Chiu Chiu shook her head.

The Grand Secretary was almost in tears. He took a few gold bars and put them in Qiuqiu's little bag.
