Chapter 16 The mistress comes knocking with money.
Whom did I offend?
The only person Jiang Ruan could think of was Huo Zhizhou.
No one else can do it except him.
In her haste, she took out her phone and made a call, her disgust for him reaching its peak.
"Hello, who is this?" came the secretary's flat voice from the other end of the phone.
Jiang Ruan: "?"
Jiang Ruan glanced at the phone number she had dialed. It was indeed Huo Zhizhou's private number. Why would his secretary answer it?
"I am Jiang Ruan." Time didn't allow her to think too much; she just wanted to figure everything out. "I need to see Huo Zhizhou about something."
The secretary glanced at Huo Zhizhou in the boss's chair, understood his implication, and said unhurriedly, "Mr. Huo is in a meeting, which will not end for another two hours. I can pass on your message."
“He’s right next to you,” Jiang Ruan said with certainty.
He never gives his personal cell phone to anyone else, not even his secretary.
The secretary subconsciously looked at Huo Zhizhou.
The latter took the phone from her hand, gestured for her to leave, and then spoke to Jiang Ruan: "I thought that with what the secretary said, Ms. Jiang should understand that I did not want to answer your call."
“If you hadn’t deliberately ruined my job, I wouldn’t have called you.” Jiang Ruan was telling the truth, and then questioned, “Why did you have someone reject my job?”
Huo Zhizhou: "What kind of job?"
Jiang Ruan: "Stop pretending."
“When you get rejected for a job, you should be thinking about your lack of ability, not coming to me,” Huo Zhizhou said ruthlessly. “After all, you haven’t worked for five years, so it’s normal for others to reject you.”
Jiang Ruan didn't believe his excuses: "You dare to say you didn't have someone trip me up?"
"No," Huo Zhizhou replied quickly. "I just told them not to relax the requirements for you because of me. You are not Mrs. Huo now, so you don't need to be given special treatment."
He didn't say it, but the effect was greater than if he had.
People in this circle are all shrewd; they can understand the unspoken meaning behind his words.
"Is this funny?" Jiang Ruan didn't understand why he was so determined to make things difficult for her. Wasn't it his own decision to get a divorce? Wasn't it him who cheated on her? Why was he making things difficult for her in the end?
"What?" Huo Zhizhou didn't hear clearly.
Jiang Ruan hung up the phone, knowing that saying more would be useless, and also knowing that it was too difficult to find a job she liked.
Two buzzing sounds.
A message came through my phone.
It was sent by Huo Zhizhou: "If you really want to find a job, considering our past as husband and wife, I can relax the requirements for you and let you work at Huo's."
Jiang Ruan did not reply, knowing that he wanted her to work at Huo's company to make things difficult for her.
With no hope of finding a job, she had no choice but to start screening companies again.
By excluding all those who had cooperated with Huo Zhizhou, had connections with him, or were in the same industry, she was left with only a few small and medium-sized enterprises to choose from.
After resubmitting her resume, she started looking for an apartment.
That day.
She had just returned from looking at houses outside.
Before she even got home, she saw Su Anran standing alone outside the door waiting for her. As Su Anran walked past her, Su Anran reached out and stopped her, saying, "Let's talk."
“I have nothing to talk about with people who are involved in extramarital affairs.” Jiang Ruan pushed her hand away and walked inside.
“I know Zhizhou didn’t give you a single penny when we divorced, and I know you’re short of money right now.” Su Anran walked up to her in her high heels, wearing the latest limited edition of the season. “As long as you leave Jingzhou with the child, the one million in the card is yours.”
