Chapter 870 Qin Mo Takes the Initiative
"Okay, thank you." Lin Tan felt relieved.
In the past, she wouldn't have called the police.
First, it wasn't something particularly serious enough to convict Huo Sinian. Second, Huo Sinian had her weakness in his grasp, and if she angered him, her fate would only be worse.
But things are different now.
Now she has no weaknesses, and she has a company that wholeheartedly supports her.
If we don't resist this time, Huo Si's annual meetings will become increasingly outrageous.
Once you report the incident to the police and go to the police station, the police will have a record of it.
If anything happens to her then, Huo Sinian will also be a suspect.
With these thoughts in mind, Lin Tan went to give a statement.
Ning Jing is a very serious and responsible person. He asked Lin Tan questions in a businesslike manner.
Lin Tan answered them one by one.
It took Lin Tan about half an hour to finish taking the statement.
As the police took her to the lounge, her gaze met that of Huo Sinian and Qin Mo, who were sitting there.
Before anyone could speak.
The police officer first said to Huo Sinian, "Mr. Huo, Captain Ning wants to see you."
Huo Sinian stood up and brushed past Lin Tan, his gaze lingering on her face for a second as he passed by.
"Go and rest over there for a bit," the police officer said to Lin Tan. "If they need to question you again later, they'll call you over."
Lin Tan nodded slightly: "Okay."
The policeman grunted in response.
As she left, Qin Mo stood up and came to her side. His dark eyes, which were usually cold, softened and asked, "So, did you tell Ning Jing the truth?"
Lin Tan stood there, staring at him in a daze.
My mind went blank for a moment.
When she came out, she thought she had seen wrong and that the person next to Huo Sinian was just someone who looked like Qin Mo.
"You..." Lin Tan hesitated, her gaze shifting from intense emotion to cold indifference as she looked at him. "Weren't you at the hospital? What are you doing here?"
Judging from his presentable appearance, he didn't seem to have been in a serious car accident.
According to the time the boss said, he should be in the operating room right now.
"I've come to ask you something," Qin Mo said in a flat voice.
Lin Tan remained polite and distant: "Didn't we say last time that we shouldn't see each other again?"
Qin Mo pursed his thin lips into a straight line.
I know she's acting, I know she's deliberately keeping her distance and indifference from me.
"I'll give you a full explanation later." Qin Mo didn't show much emotion on his face, but asked, "Did you tell Ning Jing the truth about Huo Sinian coercing you just now?"
Lin Tan looked at him.
There was suppressed emotion in his eyes.
"President Qin is joking." Lin Tan didn't give herself away and continued playing the role she had played last time, "Huo Sinian is my fiancé, how could I say such unfounded things?"
Qin Momo stared at her with his dark eyes.
That look made Lin Tan feel a little uneasy, but she remained strong and calm and said in a peaceful tone, "I called the police this time only because he was too domineering, and I wanted to scare him with the police."
"Is that so?" Qin Mo asked.
Lin Tan: "Yes."
Qin Mo: "Then why did you ask Qin Jiangye about my situation?"
Lin Tan paused, and in that instant he knew that his car accident was just a show: "In order to prepare in advance, if you are really in critical condition and about to die, I have to be prepared to drag me down to hell before you die."
Qin Mo: "If that's the case, why bother asking Huo Sinian why he still targeted me?"
He ruthlessly exposed her.
"I don't understand what you're saying," Lin Tan said calmly, but her heart was in turmoil.
Qin Jiangye was not present when she called Huo Sinian.
The only people who could have overheard their conversation were Huo Sinian's secretary and Huo Zhizhou, who was having dinner with him.
"It's okay if you don't understand." Qin Mo remained calm and composed. "We can talk slowly after this matter is resolved."
Lin Tan frowned as she looked at him.
Qin Mo met her gaze without looking to the side.
They didn't speak for the rest of the time. Qin Mo remained as cold and unsmiling as ever. Lin Tan, on the other hand, was still flustered by what had just been said, her mind preoccupied with how to smooth things over later.
Before she could figure it out, Huo Sinian's secretary arrived with his lawyer.
A few more minutes passed.
Huo Sinian, along with his secretary, lawyer, and Ning Jing, came out from inside.
"Mr. Huo and I will head back now," the lawyer said politely to Ning Jing. "If you have any further questions, just contact me."
Ning Jing: "Okay."
Huo Sinian then left with his lawyer.
As Huo Sinian passed by the entrance of the lounge, he glanced at Lin Tan, his gentle and refined face revealing neither joy nor anger.
"Just let them go like that?" Qin Mo stood up and walked out to ask Ning Jing, his eyes devoid of warmth.
"Without evidence, we have no choice but to release them," Ning Jing said.
Qin Mo frowned.
Lin Tan remained calm.
She knew this would be the outcome; all she wanted today was to stay safe and not be taken back to Jingzhou by Huo Sinian.
"He imprisoned Lin Tan and used other means to force her to be with him," Qin Mo said, emphasizing each word. "He also used other methods to interfere in Lin Tan's life."
Ning Jing glanced sideways.
Qin Mo: "You don't believe me?"
Ning Jing: "Whether I believe it or not is not important; the police rely on evidence when handling cases."
Qin Mo: "I know."
Ning Jing: "If Huo Sinian hears what you just said and sues you for slander and defamation, you'll be the one who suffers."
Qin Mo: "So I'll wait until he leaves before we talk about it."
Ning Jing pointed to his clothes: "I'm a police officer."
Qin Mo: "You are still Ning Jing."
Ning Jing walked to Lin Tan's side, his clear face as calm as ever: "Does your neck still hurt?"
"It's alright," Lin Tan replied.
“There are some things I can’t believe you about. There needs to be evidence to convict someone.” Ning Jing spoke to her calmly. “Huo Sinian denied what you just said, but you have no concrete evidence.”
"I know," Lin Tan said, already prepared. "I'm sorry to have troubled you."
"It's not a hassle at all; serving the people is our mission," Ning Jing said, adding, "Remember to keep evidence later—audio recordings, videos, photos, anything goes."
Lin Tan paused, then immediately understood what he meant: "Okay."
Ning Jing hummed in agreement.
A moment later.
Lin Tan and Qin Mo left.
As Lin Tan walked out of the police station, she instinctively hailed a taxi.
But the moment she opened the ride-hailing app, Qin Mo pulled her into the car. As she sat down, she swayed due to inertia, and before she could react, the car had already driven away.
"Qin Mo, you..."
"We can talk when we get to your place," Qin Mo said coldly, as always.
Sensing his emotions, Lin Tan simply said, "We have nothing to talk about."
After that.
Qin Mo did not speak again.
Lin Tan asked him to stop, but he didn't.
He doesn't answer when you ask him questions.
Lin Tan couldn't treat him the same way she treated Huo Sinian, so she could only let him drive.
If he wants to verify something, she should just deal with it the same way she always has.
As for the police station incident, she had already come up with an excuse to cover it up.
"Which floor do you live on?" Qin Mo asked, standing in the elevator.
Lin Tan pressed the floor button.
As the elevator ascended, Lin Tan's heart gradually calmed down.
Two minutes.
She opened the door and went inside, with Qin Mo following closely behind.
As the door closed, Lin Tan asked her question: "Just say what you want to talk about, I have other things to do later..."
"Let's get married," Qin Mo said first.
