Chapter 25 Chunyu Han's True Colors

Chapter 25 Chunyu Han's True Colors

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows of the Honeysuckle Pavilion, casting patches of light on the ground.

Chunyu Han walked through the light and shadow and returned to his bedroom in the Honeysuckle Pavilion.

"She's not awake?"

Her voice remained as cold and indifferent as ever, revealing no emotion whatsoever.

"Reporting to Your Excellency, Miss Yu's wound has stopped bleeding, but..."

Sang Tian knelt on the ground in fear, not daring to even lift his head.

"My lord, please forgive me. The dagger that was used to stab Miss Yu was coated with a rare and deadly poison. I have never seen such a poison before. Miss Yu is of noble birth, and I dare not use any medicine without authorization."

Poison is a difficult substance to control. It's not that it can't be cured, but it requires experimentation. Sang Tian was more worried about delaying Yu Nian's optimal treatment time, so for the time being, he could only control the toxins in Yu Nian's body to prevent them from spreading rapidly.

Chunyu Han silently looked at Yu Nian, who was lying on the bed. Her usually bright and lively face was now deathly pale.

"Go and invite Yu Jinglai. Be discreet and don't attract attention."

"yes!"

Sang Tian responded and left, leaving only Chunyu Han and Yu Nian in the room.

A graceful and upright figure stood before the low couch. At this moment, Yu Nian appeared exceptionally thin and fragile in Chunyu Han's eyes.

Even though Yu Nian was asleep, her brows were still furrowed. Sang Tian said that the knife had almost hit a vital spot; if it had been half an inch off, Yu Nian would have died on the spot.

"What an idiot..."

To show his sincerity, he was willing to risk his life.

Chunyu Han took off the fine purple sandalwood prayer beads from his wrist and gently placed them beside Yu Nian's pillow.

These sandalwood prayer beads have a pleasant fragrance; he usually uses them to calm his nerves, hoping they will help Yu Nian sleep better.

"Go to sleep. When you wake up, I will tell you the answer."

Chunyu Han knew that this decision might be dangerous, but it seemed worth the gamble.

"Sir, all eight assassins who escaped last night have been captured, and they are all alive."

Canghai walked into the Honeysuckle Pavilion, looking weary, and knelt on one knee.

“Take them to the execution platform in Kyoto.”

A bone-chilling cold surrounded Chunyu Han, and Canghai could sense that the master was truly enraged this time.

However, the execution platform was a place reserved for the royal family to execute criminals, so it was somewhat inappropriate to deal with these assassins.

"My lord, these eight men have already been escorted to the Eastern Depot, perhaps..."

"Don't make me say it a second time."

Chunyu Han showed no sign of changing his mind; his icy tone was chilling.

Canghai had no choice but to give up and do as Chunyu Han instructed. The lord's actions were a blatant provocation against the imperial authority. Although Canghai was worried, he kept quiet and did as instructed. The lord always had his reasons for doing things.

The execution platform in Kyoto was located at the street corner outside Xuanhua Gate, which was the city gate with the largest flow of people entering and leaving Kyoto. The prisoners executed here were all serious criminals who had been interrogated by the Dali Temple.

Beneath the floor tiles of the wide execution platform, a huge gourd with dragon patterns is carved. The majestic dragon is lifelike and wards off the evil aura that has lingered here for many years.

At this moment, a crowd of onlookers had gathered around the stone platform. On the platform, eight men dressed in black and wearing night clothes were kneeling and bound in a row.

Blood seeped from the corners of their mouths, and the venom sacs hidden in their molars had all been forcibly dug out.

Without exception, they stared in fear at the man standing with his hands behind his back on the stone platform. This man, the subject of rumors circulating throughout the streets and alleys of Kyoto, was now standing so close to them.

Chunyu Han stood on the stone platform, the cool autumn breeze blowing against the hem of his robe, the golden python embroidered on it moving with the wind as if it had come to life.

Chunyu coldly surveyed the rabble, his chilling voice carrying with it a powerful inner force that everyone around him could hear clearly.

"Answer me, who sent you to raid the Regent's residence at night?"

None of the eight people kneeling there expected that Chunyu Han would be here, interrogating them in such a public place.

The crowd below the stage was in an uproar. It turned out that this was the execution of the villains who had raided the Regent's residence at night. They just didn't know what these people had done to anger the Regent so that they would be publicly executed here.

Chunyu Han took the guillotine, which was tied with a red ribbon, from the executioner standing to the side with one hand.

The executioner's face showed surprise. This knife was unusually heavy. Even a strong man like him would have to use both hands to swing it, but Chunyu Han picked it up with one hand as if nothing was wrong.

Holding the knife handle, the tip of the blade touches the ground, the sharp tip casually rubbing against the ground, producing a captivating swishing sound.

In everyone's eyes, Chunyu Han, dressed in all black, was like a demon who had walked out of hell.

Chunyu Han, dragging his sword, stopped in front of the first kneeling black-clad assassin.

Who is it?

The two words were uttered lightly, yet they tightened around the assassin's throat like a death warrant.

The assassin was terrified but did not want to betray his master. He thought that Chunyu Han was a first-rank official of the imperial court and would not execute them in front of so many people. At most, he would just intimidate them.

His employer had said that even if they were arrested, they would be tried by three judicial departments, which would give them a chance to escape, so he kept his lips tightly pressed together and didn't say anything.

Chunyu Han had run out of patience. With a swift movement, he slashed the assassin's dark head to the ground, where it rolled to the ground in front of the other assassins.

Blood splattered on the execution platform, staining the dragon's body on the brick surface red.

This slash not only terrified the onlookers below the stage, but also frightened the assassins. They all thought the same thing as the man who had already died: no one expected Chunyu Han to swing his knife so decisively.

Chunyu Han did not linger, but moved on to the next person.

These people weren't the man's true henchmen; they were just paid to do his bidding. Watching their companion beheaded at such close range filled them with terror and shock.

They deeply regretted taking on this task. They felt that no matter how powerful Chunyu Han was rumored to be, he was just a eunuch. How powerful could someone without roots be?

Now they are filled with remorse. They were blinded by money and had no conscience, which is why they dared to assassinate Chunyu Han, this inhuman devil!

Who is it?

Chunyu Han asked the same question, but his patience was dwindling. He didn't have time to waste with these people's indecisiveness.

Swish, swish, swish...

Chunyu Han swung his sword six times in succession, and the execution platform was already covered in blood. Chunyu Han stood in the pool of blood, his sickly pale face stained with splattered blood droplets, making him look like a bloodthirsty demon.

Several people wanted to speak, but were so intimidated by Chunyu Han's terrifying aura that they couldn't utter a sound.

There was only one person left. He was trembling so much that he even lost control of his bladder. This hellish scene stimulated his will to survive, which had surpassed all other desires.

Before Chunyu Han could speak, the man shouted loudly.

"Your Majesty, spare me! I'll talk!"
