Chapter 83 He Lost the Princess
The demons' voices suddenly stopped, because they could sense their master's fury.
"Go find it," Xiao Sui commanded in a hoarse voice.
The black clumps immediately flew out in a rush.
Xiao Sui closed his eyes, and powerful demonic energy instantly spread outwards, quickly covering the entire Demon Palace and continuing to extend outwards.
Zhizhi was having some difficulty breathing. Her demonic energy was cultivated ten years ago and was not very strong yet. Her face turned pale for a moment, but she did not leave and stood there waiting.
After the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Xiao Sui opened his eyes.
Zhizhi asked anxiously, "Your Highness, have you found the princess?"
“There are traces of spiritual energy outside the city. I’ll go take a look.” After saying that, Xiao Sui’s figure disappeared before her eyes.
Zhizhi ran out of the main hall, her heart filled with anxiety. She still couldn't be sure whether finding the princess was a good thing or not.
But the outside was full of corpse demons. She slapped her thigh and thought, "Why did the princess come back from Huaguang Sect all this time!"
Xiao Sui's figure re-formed in the woods outside the city. He came to a corpse demon with its head cut off and saw that the sword wound on its body was left not long ago.
Five more corpse demons were wandering around, keeping a certain distance from him out of fear of his aura.
Xiao Sui stretched out his hand, and several streams of demonic energy surged from his palm, wrapping around the bodies of these corpse demons and grabbing them.
He carefully examined each one, and there was no fresh blood on them.
He breathed a slight sigh of relief, but his panic had completely overshadowed his anger.
Why doesn't the princess come to him? What if she gets hurt by these corpse demons?
He didn't dare to think any further. He chased after the almost dissipated spiritual energy and flew into the air, snapping the necks of all the corpse demons as he left.
He quickly arrived at the edge of a cliff, his gaze falling on the only cave in the rocks, and flew inside.
The demons finally caught up with him and floated in behind him.
"Such rich spiritual energy!" the demons exclaimed all at once. "A cultivator just left, was it the princess?"
"It must be the princess; I remember the scent of her spiritual energy."
Is the princess avoiding us?
Xiao Sui's gaze turned cold. He squatted down and touched the black blood on the weeds with his index finger. "A corpse demon has been here."
The demonic mass floated to his side. "With this amount of bleeding, the Corpse Demon will be crippled even if it doesn't die."
Xiao Sui remained silent, his gaze sweeping over the small cave. Suddenly, he noticed a spot and paused slightly.
He came to the sharp-edged stone and saw fresh bloodstains on it, not yet turned reddish-brown, clearly not left by the Corpse Demon.
He picked up the stone, his slender fingers touching the drop of blood. He quickly sensed a faint trace of spiritual energy, and his pupils constricted immediately. "She's injured?!"
The demonic group trembled uneasily, thinking, "Only a little blood, it should be a minor injury."
Xiao Sui gripped the stone tightly, his knuckles turning white. He raised his head, his face extremely gloomy. "You all know what it means to bleed a little while fighting a corpse demon."
Most of the demon groups fell silent, because even the slightest injury from a corpse demon would lead to infection.
Xiao Sui took a deep breath. "Keep searching."
The demonic mass dispersed into smaller clusters and floated away. The one with the first character was the last to arrive, flying to Xiao Sui's side. "Demon God, you don't need to worry. Have you forgotten? The princess will not become a corpse demon."
Xiao Sui looked at it sharply. "I haven't forgotten, but she has a new body now."
The character with the first letter bobbed twice in mid-air in shock before quickly drifting away.
A faint smell of blood wafted from his fingertips, and unease filled his heart. Xiao Sui released demonic energy recklessly, instantly enveloping the entire mountain peak, and he could no longer sense even a trace of spiritual power.
Where is the princess? He opened his eyes in confusion, his chest tight, and suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood.
He actually lost the princess!
——
Ning Xi never imagined in her life that she would be living in the same crevice of a rock as a corpse demon.
Rewind a little, and just as she dealt with the armored corpse demon, a new corpse demon appeared and pounced on her, knocking her to the ground.
This corpse demon's aura was stronger than all the corpse demons she had encountered before combined.
She had no time to care about her burning back, frantically swinging her sword to kill it, but her arms were tightly gripped by it and she couldn't break free no matter what she did.
Its claws dug into her skin, and its fangs were aimed at her neck; the stinging pain made her struggle even more violently.
During a break in the scuffle, something fell out of Ning Xi's arms. She looked down and saw it was the bracelet Zheng Yuzhu had given her. She hadn't wanted to wear it, but before leaving, she had inexplicably put it in her arms.
Who knew that after seeing the bracelet, the corpse demon suddenly stopped all its movements, lowered its head, and sniffed its scent.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ning Qi broke free of his arms and raised his sword to stab its neck.
The corpse demon seemed to have eyes on its head. It raised its bluish-purple hand, grabbed her sword, and twisted its sharp black nails together. With a "clang," her broken practice sword snapped in two.
Ning Qi sensed something was wrong and immediately tried to exchange points with the system to buy a new weapon.
System: "Since they've already turned into zombies, there's no need to waste points."
"I don't want my neck bitten off either!" Ning Qi screamed inwardly.
But the corpse demon showed no intention of attacking. It picked up the bracelet with its long fingernails and made a hoarse sound in its throat.
Surprisingly, Ning Qi could actually understand it.
The corpse demon asked, "Where did this come from?"
Ning Qi answered truthfully. Looking closely at the appearance of this corpse demon, she seemed to be a woman in her twenties. Her appearance was not bad, and she even looked somewhat familiar.
"You can understand me," the Corpse Demon hissed in surprise. "You know my sister."
It turns out she was the sister Zheng Yuzhu mentioned who became a body finder, went to the demon realm, and never came back.
Ning Qi nodded, and seeing that the Corpse Demon had no intention of attacking, she breathed a sigh of relief. "Here you go, this was originally her birthday gift to you."
The corpse demon uttered a few syllables from its throat, presumably to express its gratitude. It carefully put the bracelet on its wrist, then took it off and put it into its bosom.
"Why aren't you wearing it?" Ning Xi asked.
"It will get dirty."
Ningxi observed that its behavior was no different from that of an ordinary person, except that its skin was bluish-purple and the sounds it made were strange.
"There's such a thing?" she asked the system.
The system cautiously remarked, "This might be a Corpse Demon King."
Ning Qi gasped. Thankfully, she had the bracelet with her; it showed no signs of aggression.
But she still felt the woman looked familiar, and tentatively asked, "What's your name?"
The Corpse Demon lifted its eyelids, "Zheng Xinyu."
Ning Qi was about to ask again, having no recollection of the name, when Zheng Xinyu stood up and said, "The Demon God has arrived, I'm leaving."
"Xiao Sui is here?" Ning Qi stood up. "Could you take me with you?"
"Why?" Zheng Xinyu asked.
Ning Qi scratched her head sheepishly, "I'm avoiding him. I don't want him to see me like this."
The purplish-blue area on her arm had expanded and had probably spread to other places. It might not be long before she ended up like Zheng Xinyu, with her entire body covered in purplish-blue skin.
Zheng Xinyu didn't ask any further questions and simply said, "Come with me."
Ning Qi followed it out of the cave and soon sensed a powerful demonic aura rapidly approaching.
It seems there's no way to avoid it now; she doesn't even have a sword to fly on.
Just as she was trying to think of a solution, Zheng Xinyu grabbed her and jumped off the cliff.
The air whistled past her ears, its presence felt intensely on her face. Just as Ning Qi was terrified, thinking she was about to fall to her death, Zheng Xinyu released demonic energy to slow their descent, cushioning her fall onto the rocks.
Ning Qi wasn't seriously injured, only coughing twice from the shock. Zheng Xinyu pressed her into a crevice in the stone, her aura completely enveloping Ning Qi's spiritual energy.
Ning Xi was already very far from the cave. She had fallen directly into a ravine and could not see the situation inside the cave at all. She could only see black clumps spreading out like dandelion seeds being blown away by the wind in all directions.
She did not see Xiao Sui come out.
"Let's go." Zheng Xinyu stood up and said. She had several wounds on her body from direct contact with the ground, and her arm was broken and hanging limply at her side.
“Your arm…” Ning Qi followed her, “Let me help you fix it.”
Zheng Xinyu didn't seem to care much. "Hello, Chairman."
"Thank you," Ning Xi said. She hadn't expected her to help her so thoughtfully.
“You look like my benefactor,” Zheng Xinyu said.
"Your benefactor?" Ning Qi asked as she walked with her, "Also from the Huaguang Sect?"
“Princess Hexi,” she said directly.
Ning Qi paused in her steps. What?
Her benefactor was actually herself? How could that be! She didn't even know her.
"What did she help you with?" Ning Xi asked, puzzled.
"Help my mother avenge her."
Ning Qi looked at her in confusion. When had she ever helped her? Could it be the previous mission taker?
Wait, her surname is Zheng, and her given name contains the character "Xin".
Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind, and she remembered someone: "Are you Gu Xinxue's sister?"
"Hmm. You know her?"
Ning Qi nodded, suddenly realizing why she looked familiar; upon closer inspection, she did indeed bear a resemblance to Gu Xinxue.
After she gave me the evidence that brought down Prince Jing and the Minister of the Imperial Secretariat, I disappeared without a trace. I never expected that our reunion would be like this.
“We’re here, let’s go down.” Zheng Xinyu said, lifting the weeds to reveal the tunnel beneath the thin layer of soil.
Ning Qi followed her inside. There were simple stone steps inside, and candles were lit on both sides so that it was not completely dark.
The cave contained only a simple space with a large bed made of polished stone.
"To escape the demons, we live here," she said.
Ning Xi looked at her arm, which was still in an awkward position, and said, "Let me bandage it for you so it will heal faster."
Zheng Xinyu did not refuse again.
She crawled out of the hole, found a tree branch, and tore off a corner of her clothes to secure it.
"Go to sleep," Zheng Xinyu said.
Ning Qi lay down on the bed, the stone was hard against her back, and it was cold enough to seep into her bones.
However, having a place to stay is already a good thing.
Ning Qi hugged her arms and closed her eyes, vaguely feeling her body begin to heat up.
She lay her whole body on the stone bed, but it didn't relieve her pain.
It was too hot; the intense heat from the inside out made her unable to lie down, so she sat up directly.
But the surrounding scenery had completely changed. She was no longer in the cave; she was following a group of people, carrying porcelain bottles of pills in her hands.
This group was strange; from behind, the people in front walked very stiffly and made low, guttural sounds.
She quickly regained her senses and realized that she had been mixed up with the corpse demons' ranks.
She followed the group of corpse demons into a study, where she saw Xiao Sui sitting at a table, sketching something.
"Bring the medicine over," he said without even looking up.
The first two corpse demons moved, walking over expressionlessly. One poured him water, and the other brought him medicine.
Xiao Sui took it and ate it.
The two corpse demons moved with such perfect coordination, as if they had rehearsed together. Ning Qi, as the third person, was a little uneasy carrying the tray, wondering when it would all be over.
Xiao Sui suddenly raised his head, his gaze fixed on her, and questioned, "Why didn't you bring the medicine?"
Ning Qi tried her best to suppress all her emotions, walked over with a straight face and upright posture, and imitated the actions of the corpse demon from before, uncorking the bottle and handing over the pill.
Xiao Sui hesitated to make a move. She cursed herself hundreds of times in her heart, but she still held the same position until her hand quickly became sore.
Just as she was about to give herself away, Xiao Sui took out a pill, allowing her to withdraw her hand.
She forced a straight face and returned to the group.
She realized she was dreaming again, this time disguised as the Corpse Demon and staying by Xiao Sui's side.
Although she didn't know why she was doing it.
