Chapter 32: All is fair in war
Inside the post station, the hurried footsteps gradually died down, but before anyone could catch their breath, flames suddenly shot up into the sky outside the post station.
After Xue Nian was injured, Qi Feng temporarily took over the position of commander of the palace guards.
At this moment, he was accompanying Zhu Wenqin and trying to comfort his depressed and anxious mood. However, he saw the guards at the gate rushing in in a panic, staggering, breathing rapidly, and even unable to speak clearly:
"No... It's bad, Guard Qi, the post station is surrounded."
When the two heard this, their hearts sank suddenly. They looked at each other, and without time to think, they immediately stood up and walked out quickly.
Along the way, all kinds of thoughts kept flashing through their minds. Who on earth dared to attack the post station at this time? The prince was still seriously injured and had not recovered yet. What should they do?
When we arrived at the entrance of the post station, we saw that a group of guards had already drawn their swords, with cold light flashing on the swords, and were confronting a group of men in black holding torches.
The light of the torches flickered, illuminating the tense faces of both parties.
There were so many men in black that they surrounded the post station.
Qi Feng looked stern, strode to the center of the guards, stared straight at the man in black, and asked sternly:
"Who are you? You are so brave. Don't you know that the Second Prince is resting here?"
When the men in black heard this, they did not answer immediately, but dispersed to both sides, leaving a passage in the middle.
Then, two figures, one in white and one in black, slowly walked out of the passage.
When everyone looked closely, they found that the white figure was the prefect Zhai Qing, and the man in black was the person in charge of the post station Chu Heng.
When Zhu Wenqin saw the two men, his eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn't help but ask:
"Master Zhai, what are you doing?"
He could never have imagined that Zhai Qing, who seemed kind and submissive on weekdays, and Chu Heng, who was always diligent, would actually do such a thing.
Zhai Qing raised a cold smile, his eyes were cold, and he spoke slowly:
"Of course, I'm sending the Second Prince off."
Qi Feng was shocked when he heard this. He clenched his fists and asked loudly:
"Master Zhai, do you know what you are doing? You are openly committing treason, a crime punishable by death!"
Zhai Qing disagreed, a crazy smile appeared on his face, and he said viciously:
"I know, very clearly, that after tonight, there will no longer be a second prince in the Decheng Dynasty."
Zhu Wenqin stood aside, shaking with anger, and shouted loudly:
"Zhai Qing, aren't you afraid of having your entire clan exterminated? If you do something so treasonous, your whole family will suffer!"
When Zhai Qing heard this, he was stunned at first, and then burst into crazy laughter, which was full of despair and sorrow.
He laughed for a long time before stopping, his eyes full of resentment:
"Nine clans? The Nine Clans were wiped out by the Second Prince ten years ago. What do I have to be afraid of? My entire family, young and old, dozens of people, were all gone overnight! I have endured humiliation for so many years just to wait for this day to avenge my family!"
After he finished speaking, his face suddenly darkened, his eyes turned scarlet, and he stared at Zhu Wenqin intently, approaching him step by step:
"Guard Zhu, before I send him off, I have one more thing I want to do that will make him die with regret."
As he approached, Zhu Wenqin could clearly feel the malice coming towards her. Zhai Qing's expression became more and more distorted, and the muscles on his face twitched uncontrollably:
"I want you to die before him, so that he can also experience the heart-wrenching pain of having his loved ones die in front of him! Doesn't he care about you? I want him to watch you die with his own eyes, and let him go to hell with this pain!"
After Zhai Qing finished speaking, the expression on his face became more ferocious. He raised his right hand high and shouted at the men behind him: "Come on! Don't let any of them go!"
Just as he was about to put his hands down and issue the order to attack, a sharp whistle suddenly came from the night sky.
Before everyone could react, dozens of cold lights flashed across the night sky like lightning, so fast that it was hard to keep up.
Accompanied by screams, most of the masked men in black fell down. They didn't even have time to make any more sounds before they fell straight to the ground.
Then, several figures flew down from above the post station. Their clothes fluttered in the moonlight, and they looked like fairies descending from the sky.
When he landed, his movements were light and steady, making almost no sound, but instantly attracted everyone's attention.
The leader had a stern face, cold eyes, and stood with his hands behind his back.
When Zhai Qing saw this scene, the smugness on his face instantly disappeared, replaced by deep shock and astonishment:
"Jing Siye, are you okay? You actually lied to me?"
That’s right, the one who landed in the front was Zhaonan King Jing Siye.
"king……"
The moment Zhu Wenqin saw Jing Siye, her heart suddenly trembled and she almost blurted out excitement.
When the words were on the tip of his tongue, he came to his senses instantly. The situation was tense at the moment and he must not distract the prince and give the enemy a chance to take advantage.
He quickly covered his mouth with his hands, his eyes filled with tears of joy.
He turned his head quickly and communicated eagerly with Qi Feng beside him with his eyes:
"Your Highness is fine. Your Highness and the others are really fine. That's great."
Qi Feng was equally excited and nodded vigorously in response.
Seeing that Xue Nian behind the prince was safe and sound, he also breathed a sigh of relief.
Jing Siye said in a deep voice: "All is fair in war, Zhai Shuangqing, you know this principle."
Zhai Qing was stunned: "How do you know my full name?"
Jing Siye's face was calm: "The eldest son of the Zhai family, your father was the governor of Minnan back then."
Zhai Qing: "Now that you know, you should understand how deep my hatred is! With just one order from you, more than 80 people in our Zhai family were all gone in just one hour."
"If my sister and I hadn't accompanied our master to the mountain to collect herbs that day, and my father hadn't suddenly decided to let the housekeeper's son wear my clothes, I would have died long ago!"
Jing Siye's face was as cold as frost: "Your mother and your master are relatives of the Japanese emperor. The dancers they secretly trained came to the capital to use drug powder to control the late emperor, intending to annex the territory of this dynasty. This is a fact, and they deserve to die."
When Zhai Qing heard this, the anger on his face became even stronger, and he roared:
"Then what crime did the rest of our family commit? There were so many people, young and old, and not a single one was left alive."
Jing Siye's expression flashed with a subtle complex emotion, but his tone remained calm:
"It is the law of this dynasty to punish nine generations of a family for a serious crime, and I am just following orders."
Zhai Qing laughed out of anger, his laughter full of mockery and despair:
"What a man who follows orders!"
After Zhai Qing finished speaking, he waved his hand and the men in black behind him began to attack. Zhai Qing himself also flew towards Jing Siye with a sword in hand.
After Jing Siye dodged a move, he ordered his men to protect Zhu Wenqin, and then he focused on the battle.
Zhai Qing and Chu Heng fought against Jing Siye. Both of them learned martial arts from the Japanese and their moves were strange.
One is the main attacker, the other is the auxiliary. They cooperate well and every move is deadly.
However, Jing Siye started learning martial arts at the age of six and went to the battlefield at the age of sixteen. He had three masters who taught him martial arts, and he personally trained all his secret guards.
After dozens of rounds, he figured out the opponent's tactics and turned from defense to offense.
