Chapter 31 Seriously Injured
The room fell into silence, with only the sound of Zhu Wenqin's rapid breathing. She was very hungry, but had no appetite.
"What should he do if something happens to the prince?"
This thought made his heart tighten instantly. He shook his head vigorously and kept muttering:
"Pooh, pooh, pooh, Your Majesty is blessed with a long life, he will be fine..."
Zhu Wenqin felt like a lost soul all day long. He fidgeted in the room, walking to the window and then back to the bed, Jing Siye's face constantly appearing in his mind.
As the sun sets, Zhu Wenqin still sits in front of the window, waiting for that familiar figure to appear.
The torment of this day finally made him realize clearly that the prince, whom he once regarded as a "big devil", had already unknowingly walked into his heart and occupied an extremely important position.
He was so eager for Jing Siye to return safely, even if it cost him anything.
At dinner time, there was suddenly a loud commotion at the door.
Zhu Wenqin was sitting in the room, anxiously waiting for news. The sudden noise made his heart tighten suddenly, and his heart instantly rose to his throat, and his legs began to tremble slightly uncontrollably.
He suppressed his inner panic and stumbled towards the front door.
When he finally ran to the door, the scene before him made the string that he was holding tightly to snap in an instant. Xue Nian, Lu Bo and several secret guards supported each other and staggered into the post station.
They were all seriously injured, their clothes were torn in many places by sharp weapons, hanging on their bodies in shreds, revealing shocking wounds. The blood had long since dried up, coagulating into dark red patches on the clothes.
And their prince, Jing Siye, was currently being placed on a horse-drawn carriage carrying goods.
He lay there quietly, covered with a thin blanket. No wounds could be seen, only large blood stains on the blanket. His eyes were closed and his face was as pale as paper.
Zhu Wenqin felt dizzy, her legs went limp, and she almost collapsed to the ground.
His voice trembled, and with endless sobs and fear, he shouted:
"Your Majesty——"
He desperately wanted to rush over to check Jing Siye's injuries, but was stopped by Chen Lian.
Chen Lian advised solemnly: "Guard Zhu, please let me help the prince clean his wound first."
Zhu Wenqin knew that this was not the time to be willful, so she could only stand aside with red eyes.
Then, Chen Lian turned to look at everyone and said in a louder voice:
"In addition, the prince instructed before he left that if their trip was unsuccessful, no one should get too close to them when they return, in case they are really infected."
For a while, the post station was bustling with activity.
The guards who accompanied them were arranged in two rooms, while Jing Siye was placed in another separate room that had been tidied up.
There are guards standing by outside the room and no one is allowed to approach.
Zhu Wenqin stood outside the room, anxious but helpless.
He looked at Qi Feng anxiously, his eyes reddened, and asked in a crying voice:
"Guard Qi, you said the prince is so skilled, how could he be injured so badly?"
Qi Feng also had a sad look on his face and sighed helplessly:
"Xue Nian just said that the prince was stabbed by the enemy in order to save them."
"Enemy? Is there really some 'dirty thing' in that mountain?"
"I haven't had time to ask that yet. Let's go ask them after they've treated the wound."
The two stood there, looking at the closed door, their hearts full of worry and uneasiness. They could only silently hope that they would be safe during this long wait.
Chen Lian came out wearing a veil and handcuffs. Zhu Wenqin couldn't wait to ask:
"Doctor Chen, how is the prince?"
Chen Lian: "The prince is seriously injured. I will take care of him all night. Guard Zhu, please go back and rest."
Zhu Wenqin took a step forward and said anxiously:
"How can I rest in peace when the prince is so seriously injured? Doctor Chen, can I go in and see if the prince is okay? Just a glance."
Chen Lian's face was full of embarrassment. He shook his head helplessly, but his tone was very firm:
"No, the prince has specifically instructed, Guard Zhu,... please don't embarrass me."
Zhu Wenqin couldn't enter the room and was very anxious.
He turned around and held Qi Feng's hand, his palms were full of cold sweat, and his voice was trembling:
"Qi Feng, help me think of a solution. I can't just sit there and wait. The prince..."
His words stopped abruptly, as if his throat was choked by something and he could no longer speak.
At this time, Chu Heng, the person in charge of the post station, came over and comforted him:
"Guard Zhu, Doctor Chen is known as a 'miracle doctor' with superb medical skills. The prince will be fine."
Zhu Wenqin nodded mechanically, tears welling up in her eyes, and she kept muttering to herself, "That's right, the prince will be fine, he will be fine..."
While cheering himself up, he walked towards the dormitory with unsteady steps.
In the middle of the night, there was another commotion outside Jing Siye's room:
"Oh no, the prince is vomiting blood, quickly fetch some water."
Chen Lian's voice broke the silence of the night, sharp and urgent, instantly waking up everyone in the inn.
Zhu Wenqin had not slept well to begin with, and when he heard the shout, he didn't even bother to put on his outer robe and rushed out barefoot.
The moonlight shone on him, outlining his panicked figure.
He ran to Jing Siye's door and saw guards wearing veils and handcuffs walking in and out of the room in a hurry.
The basins they were holding were filled with bright red blood for washing.
When Zhu Wenqin saw this scene, his rationality instantly collapsed. He wanted to rush in regardless of everything, shouting:
"Your Majesty!"
However, his shoulders were held tightly by Qi Feng. Qi Feng also looked anxious, but he still tried to stay calm and said loudly:
"Guard, calm down!"
Zhu Wenqin turned his head, his eyes red, and roared:
"How can I stay calm when the prince is like this?"
His voice was filled with despair and pain, and every word seemed to be squeezed from the bottom of his heart.
Qi Feng held Zhu Wenqin's shoulders tightly, looked him straight in the eyes, and said:
"We are all equally depressed, but going in would only cause more trouble. Doctor Chen and his men are doing their best to treat the prince. The prince is blessed by heaven, and he will be fine."
As the two were talking, a figure quietly appeared in the darkness.
He had a strange smile on his face and a cold light flashing in his eyes. He watched all this in the darkness. Then, he turned around and disappeared into the night.
In Hangzhou Province, in the pavilion of the government office, a black figure knelt down towards a man in white:
"Master, King Zhaonan is confirmed to be seriously injured and unconscious."
