Chapter 59 It hurts, it hurts so much

Upon hearing this, Yu Jingchen frowned. He had originally thought that Nan Zhiyun was just having a mental breakdown, but he hadn't expected it to be this serious.

"Is there any way to alleviate this?" Yu Jingchen asked.

"This... can only recover slowly," the imperial physician replied.

Yu Jingchen didn't speak, but simply waved his hand to signal the imperial physician to leave. Only after everyone in the room had left did Yu Jingchen sit down next to Nan Zhiyun.

He brushed aside the hair that was scattered around Nan Zhiyun's face; it was badly swollen and red, and Yu Jingchen's expression wasn't good. Besides the injuries on her face, her knees must have been badly injured from kneeling for so long today.

Yu Jingchen gently lifted Nan Zhiyun's clothes, revealing her knee, which was indeed covered in large bruises. Yu Jingchen's eyes darkened slightly; he suddenly felt that he had punished those people too leniently today…

Yu Jingchen took the ointment from the side; he'd almost gotten used to it lately.

Yu Jingchen gently applied the ointment to Nan Zhiyun's knee and then tried to rub it in, but even with his gentle movements, it still hurt.

Nan Zhiyun woke up again after being disturbed like this.

"It hurts," Nan Zhiyun whimpered softly.

"Just bear with it, it'll be over soon," Yu Jingchen comforted him.

Yu Jingchen continued applying the medicine to Nan Zhiyun, but Nan Zhiyun tugged at Yu Jingchen's clothes. Yu Jingchen looked over and asked, "What's wrong?"

"It hurts, it hurts so much," Nan Zhiyun said softly, but Yu Jingchen heard her clearly.

"What should we do? How can we stop the pain?" Yu Jingchen stopped what he was doing.

"Pain," Nan Zhiyun kept saying only this one word, and with her face full of injuries and glistening with tears, she looked absolutely pitiful.

"Then tell me, how can I stop the pain?" Yu Jingchen asked.

Nan Zhiyun just lay there, not saying a word, looking silly and cute, like a little dummy.

"Hmm?" Yu Jingchen uttered a single syllable.

Nan Zhiyun was still staring blankly at Yu Jingchen, who was somewhat helpless. He reached out and helped Nan Zhiyun sit up.

"Can we talk properly now?" Yu Jingchen asked her. But unexpectedly... well, Nan Zhiyun shook her head directly.

Yu Jingchen: "..."

"Nan Zhiyun, did you do this on purpose?" Yu Jingchen was starting to have real suspicions. After asking this question, he kept staring at Nan Zhiyun without moving his gaze at all.

Unexpectedly... Nan Zhiyun's eyes darkened slightly, her lips pursed, and tears welled up in her eyes, as if she would burst into tears if Yu Jingchen said one more word or looked at her one more time.

Yu Jingchen: "..."

"Alright, alright, I won't ask you anymore. Hold back your tears," Yu Jingchen relented. And Nan Zhiyun actually did manage to stop crying.

Yu Jingchen: "..." How many times has he been speechless today? If it were any other time... well, it would be an accident if there was no blood, okay?

"Bear with the pain a little. It needs to be rubbed to get better. If you keep causing trouble, I won't take care of you anymore. Either do it yourself, or I'll have someone else serve you." Yu Jingchen seemed to be threatening him, right?

After speaking, Yu Jingchen resumed applying the medicine to Nan Zhiyun. This time, Nan Zhiyun did not cry out in pain. Instead, she stared intently at Yu Jingchen, somewhat lost in thought.

Yu Jingchen wasn't unaware of Nan Zhiyun's gaze, but he simply pretended not to. Since things had already come to this, he would let her do as she pleased.

————————I've been too busy today. I was in a meeting until 10 o'clock and didn't have time to update. I still have some things to do. I'll update another chapter for everyone when I have time later.
