Chapter 21 [Please Add to Favorites]
Lin Leyou glanced at him and casually said, "Yes, the new village chief has taken office, so he has to entertain the villagers. He has to go to that open space in front of the village to eat every night."
Xue Rui blinked. "Then... can I go and show my support too?"
Lin Leyou looked at him with some surprise, "You want to go eat too?"
Xue Rui nodded, "Yes, the food at the farmhouse restaurant..."
Lin Leyou, "How is it?"
Xue Rui was somewhat surprised. Did the owner of this small shop not know that the food at the farmhouse restaurant was terrible?
"It doesn't taste very good."
Lin Leyou said, "If you want to go, then go and give it a try, but you'll have to ask the village chief for his opinion when he comes."
Lin Leyou spoke as he walked forward, with Xue Rui following behind him.
As they got closer, Lin Leyou noticed that Xue Rui was actually a little shorter than him.
He is exactly 1.8 meters tall. Xue Rui is a little shorter than him, about 1.76 meters. Is he that young?
Xue Rui obediently followed behind, "What should I say then, boss?"
Lin Leyou felt a little embarrassed. Xue Rui was only a year younger than her, yet he was pretending to be young. But it seemed to feel pretty good.
"Now that Song Ying has become the village chief, he naturally hopes that everyone will acknowledge his status."
Xue Rui nodded. "I understand."
When Lin Leyou arrived, the villagers were scattered in twos and threes. It was almost time, and only some finishing touches remained.
Lin Leyou could still only see Granny Cao over there, but Cao Bei was still nowhere to be seen.
Xue Rui looked at Lin Leyou sitting in one of the chairs with a sense of helplessness, while he stood beside him, somewhat bewildered.
Granny Cao glanced at Xue Rui and asked, "Who is this young man? Why did you bring him along, young boss?"
Lin Leyou smiled and said, "The tourists from the farmhouse heard that the village chief has taken office, so they came to congratulate him and also to see if they could come here for a free meal."
Grandma Cao nodded. "Oh, I see. Well then, let's wait a bit. The village chief will be here soon."
Lin Leyou: "Grandma Cao, is your son still not coming for dinner?"
Grandma Cao sighed deeply, "Yes, I don't know what to do... this child..."
Lin Leyou smiled and said, "It's alright, as long as it doesn't violate any rules. The village chief won't do anything without reason..."
Grandma Cao didn't refute it; instead, she said, "That makes sense."
Violation of regulations.
Xue Rui received this hint: indeed, to survive seven days in this village, one needed to follow the rules.
The village chief is the ultimate boss, but even if he wants to kill a villager, he needs to follow the rules and cannot attack villagers who have not broken them.
It seems that as long as he finds out the rules that the players need to follow and makes sure he doesn't break them, he can easily survive to the end.
After some time, Xue Rui saw the Song camp.
Song Ying was somewhat surprised to see Xue Rui. "What brings this guest here?"
Xue Rui noticed that all the villagers were sitting quietly in their seats, except for Lin Leyou, whose seat was empty. It seemed that this must be the son that the old woman had mentioned earlier.
"Hello, I heard you are the new village chief, so I came here to congratulate you."
Upon hearing this, Song Ying's expression visibly brightened. "Really? In that case, I'm all for it. There's a seat left here. If you don't mind, you can come here for dinner every night. This seat is for you."
Xue Rui said, "Thank you, Village Chief!"
Song Ying said, "It's alright, it's almost time. Everyone should eat and drink as they please and have a good time."
He didn't stay there for long and left quickly.
When Xue Rui turned to face the table, he saw that everyone had started eating, especially Lin Leyou sitting next to him, who was eating very happily.
They eat meat and vegetables in big, hearty bites.
Xue Rui didn't dare to eat his fill; he just followed Lin Leyou's lead and ate whatever she ate.
Lin Leyou didn't notice at first, but he realized it when he was almost full. "What? Don't you like the other dishes?"
Xue Rui: "No, they're all delicious, but I like eating them."
Lin Leyou didn't expose him, "Then your taste is similar to mine."
Xue Rui: "Mhm."
To be honest, he hadn't eaten properly for two days, so being able to eat this was a treat for his stomach. Clearly, the things he had given to Lin Leyou before hadn't been wasted.
Not only did I come into contact with some villagers, but I also gained the privilege of being able to come and have dinner every day.
After finishing dinner, Lin Leyou got up to leave, and Xue Rui followed her.
Lin Leyou said, "By the way, since you promised the village chief you'd come to dinner, don't break your promise. Remember to come every night. The village chief just said this spot is yours now."
Xue Rui blinked. This is... the rule?
"If you don't come..."
Lin Leyou: "I don't know."
Xue Rui: "I understand, I will come on time."
Lin Leyou patted him on the shoulder, "Alright, go back and rest."
Xue Rui: "Boss... it's still pretty early, only a little past seven. Do you have any cards? How about we play cards?"
Lin Leyou thought about it and agreed. There were no phones or computers to play on here, and it would be quite boring to just go back and sleep.
"Then come on over, let's play some cards for fun."
Perhaps because Xue Rui was her own boss in the real world, Lin Leyou agreed quite readily.
After all, he's the company's top executive, and now he's following me around, even wanting to play cards with me. Who could refuse that?
When they returned to the convenience store, it was completely dark outside. If Xue Rui went back later, he would have to find his way back in the dark.
It's okay, we can just buy a flashlight later.
Lin Leyou opened the door. "Come in."
He casually turned on the light, grabbed a deck of cards from the shelf, and saw Xue Rui close the door behind him. For some reason, Lin Leyou had a bad feeling.
Playing cards with just two people is indeed a bit boring, but we can't find another person to join us now, since it's already so late.
Xue Rui played his cards casually; he didn't really want to win, he just wanted to chat with Lin Leyou.
"boss?"
"Hmm?" Lin Leyou was struggling with what card to play.
"The houses at the farmhouses are of poor quality; one collapses every day."
"Hmm." Should we play this card?
"Four more people died this morning. Is this related to them being outside or having their doors open after 10 a.m.?"
"I think so." How did he know? Anyway, either one violated the rules set by Song Ying, so it would be strange if nothing went wrong.
