Chapter 22 [Please Add to Favorites]

Xue Rui continued, seemingly calmly, "In this village, the village chief has the final say, right?"

Lin Leyou nodded, "Of course."

He decided to play this card and discarded the one he had just chosen.

Xue Rui glanced at them and casually tossed out his cards.

"Someone asked the village chief before, if there aren't enough guest rooms, we can stay at other people's places, is that true?"

As Lin Leyou looked at the cards, he thought, "Since the village chief said it's okay, then it must be okay."

Xue Rui was silent for a while, "But yesterday, four people were staying in one guest room, and they were still killed."

Lin Leyou, "Didn't you say they were still walking around outside or opening the door at ten o'clock?"

Xue Rui, “Indeed…”

"I'll offer this."

Xue Rui glanced at them and casually tossed out two cards.

"boss."

Lin Leyou, "What?"

Xue Rui was still hesitant, unsure of what to say. He didn't even know if he could really say it; what if it was taboo?

Lin Leyou looked at him, "Hmm?"

Xue Rui shook his head, "It's okay, let's talk about it next time."

Lin Leyou: "Whatever you say."

Time flies when you're playing cards. When Lin Leyou checked the time, he found it was already past nine o'clock.

"It's getting late, you should go home now."

Xue Rui nodded, "Okay, it's time to go back. See you tomorrow, boss."

Lin Leyou tidied up the cards. "No problem."

After seeing Xue Rui off, Lin Leyou watched as Xue Rui walked away in the dark. She had asked him if he needed a flashlight, but he had said no. Was he really planning to walk back in the dark?

He wasn't afraid of falling on the road; it was so dark outside, he couldn't see anything at all. But what did that have to do with him? Xue Rui wasn't a child.

Lin Leyou closed the door and tidied up the shop. Then she took some clean clothes to take a shower. When she came out of the shower, it was already past 9:40.

"Time really flies."

He lay down on the bed, covered himself with the blanket, and prepared to sleep. But not long after he lay down, Lin Leyou heard a knock on the door.

He glanced at the time subconsciously. It was 9:55, not even 10 o'clock yet, so it couldn't be anything dangerous. Who would come looking for him so late?

He got up and walked to the door, but didn't open it. "Who is it?"

Unexpectedly, Xue Rui's voice came from outside, "It's me, boss."

Even through the door, Lin Leyou could hear obvious panting. Did he run over?

Lin Leyou thought for a moment, then checked the time and saw that there were only four minutes left. She opened the door and saw Xue Rui standing outside, clutching his side, with blood between his fingers.

"Come in first."

Xue Rui gasped for breath, "Thank you, boss."

Lin Leyou closed the door tightly and checked the doors and windows again. Only after finding no problems did he have time to pay attention to Xue Rui.

Of course, it was already 10:01.

Lin Leyou pulled out a first-aid kit from the corner. "What happened to you?"

Xue Rui cooperated with him to bandage himself, "I... when I went back, I found that the Wode guest room had been occupied."

He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, a sarcastic sneer running through his mind. He hadn't expected that the lock on the door to the room where someone had died would be broken, making it impossible to close.

In the end, Wu Yin tried to take other people's rooms, but surprisingly, his room was chosen instead.

They really do pick on the weak; they've got their eyes on him. They didn't even try to take the guest room where the two women were staying, but instead tried to take his.

When he returned, the room where someone had died was dark, so he couldn't see if the door was properly closed.

When he arrived at his guest room door, he knocked on the door, intending for Liu Lili to open it and let him in. Unexpectedly, the person who opened the door was not Liu Lili, but Wu Yin!

Before he could react, Wu Yin stabbed himself in the stomach. Fortunately, he instinctively turned his body to the side, so he only suffered a minor cut and bled a little.

He retreated to a safe distance before looking at Wu Yin standing inside the door. "Oh dear, I didn't expect you to not be in the guest room when I knocked on the door."

"This saves me a lot of trouble, I should thank you..."

"Oh, by the way, the door to that room is broken and can't be closed at all, so I'll have to stay in your guest room for a while. I hope you don't mind."

"Hahaha……"

Xue Rui saw the two women behind him, Zhou Xuan and Liu Lili, who seemed not to see him at all, obediently shrinking behind him.

Wu Yin held the blood-stained knife and sneered at Xue Rui. Xue Rui was injured, and even if Wu Yin took out the dagger he had drawn, he couldn't hurt him at this distance.

Not long after, Wu Yin closed the door right in front of him.

Xue Rui clutched his wound tightly, pondered for a long time, and even knocked on other people's doors, but no one responded to him.

Finally, he decided to try anything, even if it seemed hopeless, and ran towards the convenience store while he still had time. To his surprise, Lin Leyou actually let him in.

Lin Leyou thought it over before opening the door to let him in, since Song Ying only said that he had to open for business on time and couldn't be lazy, and also specified the time when he couldn't go out.

But he didn't say he couldn't take in other people.

Lin Leyou suddenly thought of something, and he subconsciously looked at the double bed in his room.

Xu Rui previously said that Song Ying had said that if there weren't enough guest rooms, they could stay with other people.

This is obviously not right. If they could stay in guest rooms, Song Ying could have just said they would stay in other guest rooms. Why did they say they would stay in someone else's place?

This "other people" may not refer to other players, but rather to other villagers, including the owner of his own little shop.

So, can villagers just take in players at will? The answer is a resounding no.

What conditions must be met to accept players?

Xue Rui's wound has been disinfected, treated with medicine, and bandaged.

"Boss, is it alright for you to take me in like this?"

Lin Leyou: "Don't worry, I have a double bed here."

Xue Rui paused for a moment before saying, "It's okay, I can sleep on the floor."

Lin Leyou said, "I don't have any extra blankets for you to make a bed on the floor. Go to the bathroom and wash up. Be careful not to get your wound wet. It's already late. Go to sleep as soon as you're done washing up."

"Just grab your toothbrush and toothpaste from the shelf and pay for them when the store opens tomorrow."

Lin Leyou's tone was businesslike and devoid of emotion, but that was enough for Xue Rui. "I'll pay the rent. How about five hundred a night?"

Lin Leyou, of course, wouldn't refuse if there was money to be made. "Okay."

Five hundred for one night, something doesn't seem right.

Lin Leyou was still a little worried after taking in a player. After all, he didn't know if his guess was right. If he was wrong, would the player also be humanely destroyed by the Song camp?
