Chapter 64 Why are you only arriving now!

The icy water hit me, and I choked on some dirty water. The air smelled of mud.

It felt like a nightmare. I splashed my way out of the pond, my bare feet slippery, and kept running.

Behind them, gunshots rang out in waves.

"Help--"

I cried out in despair.

Tears streamed down my face as a bullet struck a tree in front of me. Terrified, I covered my head with my hands and froze, too scared to move.

"Bang bang bang—"

Sparks flew all around me, and shotgun shells flew toward me. I closed my eyes tightly, waiting for the pain to come.

Suddenly, I found myself in a strong, firm embrace...

My whole body was tense.

Gradually, a familiar scent made me relax instantly, and I burst into tears, burying my face deeply in that familiar chest.

"You scared me to death... Waaah... Fu Yanshen, why did you take so long to come!" I cried out to him, but as soon as the words left my mouth, I was stunned.
