Chapter 2 Chapter02 Resolving the Difficulty
When Yan Sui and a girl in the same group arrived at the designated area at the back wall of the school, several boys were already squatting by the flower bed.
Several boys wore their school uniforms loosely, their undone short-sleeved shirts revealing exaggerated patterns. Each of them held a cigarette, blowing smoke rings while keeping their eyes on the girls holding their duty gear.
Yan Sui put down the dustpan and picked up the broom and walked away from the boys.
The girls in her group also followed her away, looking impatient: "It's so annoying. Why are those seniors here again? They've made the floor full of cigarette ash."
Yan Sui paused in her sweeping motion, looked up and shook her head at the girl: "Keep your voice down."
Although the girl was unhappy, she knew it was not a good idea to talk about it at this time, so she stopped talking and took the broom to the other side to sweep.
The assigned area was quite large, but there was little to clean. Yan Sui and the other girl finished sweeping the entire area in a matter of minutes, leaving only the area where the senior students were gathered, smoking.
Yan Sui suppressed her emotions and walked over there to start cleaning. The broom lightly swept across the ground, and the dust raised was floating in the air.
One of the boys cursed in annoyance: "Didn't you see anyone?"
When the girls in the same group heard this, they raised their voices to refute: "It was obviously you——"
Yan Sui suddenly grabbed her hand to stop her from talking, and at the same time pulled her behind him. She looked up at the boy smoking and slowly uttered two words, "Sorry."
She put away the broom, walked around where they were and started sweeping, even the swing of her arm with the broom became much smaller.
The girl was suppressed by her, feeling wronged and angry but having no place to vent her eyes. She said, "It's obviously them who are being unreasonable. Smoking is not allowed in school, yet they hid here to smoke, hindering us from cleaning and even being mean to us."
Yan Sui took out a tissue from his pocket and handed it to her: "Let's not conflict with them, just be patient."
The girls didn’t know, but Yan Sui knew that group of people.
They were the last-place students in their senior year, and had committed numerous violations of school rules and regulations, including fighting, climbing over walls to skip classes, etc. They had come here to smoke because their teacher had discovered where they had been smoking before, so they had recently moved here to avoid the spotlight.
Several of them had received several serious warnings and were placed on probation, and were only one step away from expulsion.
The students in Yan Sui's class spent most of their time studying, barely understanding anything unrelated. They'd been on the podium during school-wide criticisms before, and they were often criticized in public announcements. But their families had some money, so they were able to stay in school despite their numerous mistakes. They were considered troublemakers.
In her previous life, Yan Sui had no idea they were such a mess. She got emotional and clashed with them, thinking they would just let it go. Unexpectedly, they confronted her head-on. Although the teacher arrived in time to stop them, she still twisted her ankle during the scuffle, and these boys held a grudge against her, constantly trying to trip her up whenever they ran into each other.
In this life, Yan Sui was very clear about her purpose for coming back. She didn't want to create any more complications than she had in her previous life. She also knew that in ten minutes, the patrolling teacher would come to check on the area, and without her intervention, the boys would be arrested for smoking.
Since she already knew that these boys would be arrested, there was no need for her to conflict with them.
Yan Sui wanted to avoid them and also reminded the girls in the same group not to conflict with them.
But the girl seemed to be in a restless mood because it was the end of school. After cleaning that area, when the boys threw cigarette ashes and butts all over the floor, she couldn't help but burst into tears.
"Can you guys go somewhere else if you want to smoke? Can't you see we're cleaning?"
Yan Sui's heart tightened, and before she could grab the girl's hand, she saw several boys react after a moment of stunned silence and stood up one after another.
After a few curse words were blurted out, one of the boys suddenly threw the cigarette butt in his hand at them: "What the hell do you care about me?"
The girl's shoulders trembled with fear at the boy's actions, but she still stood there stubbornly and refused to give in.
Another boy also threw the cigarette butt to the ground and then stepped on it with the tip of his shoe and crushed it: "Just throw it away, what do you want to do?"
Seeing this, Yan Sui couldn't help but frown and tightened her grip on the broom handle.
She had no intention of getting into conflict with this group of people, so she kept avoiding them and wanted to wait for the teacher to come and inspect the area so that she could deal with the matter without any conflict.
She carefully followed the original timeline to minimize the effects of the butterfly effect, but still couldn't stop what was bound to happen.
Now that the conflict has occurred and there is still some time before the teacher arrives, she can't push her classmates out and let her face this group alone.
In that case...
Yan Sui's hand holding the broom handle suddenly loosened, and the moment he raised his eyes, he made a decision in his heart.
She raised her hand and grabbed the girl's arm, then stepped from the back to the front. "The school has a clear rule that students cannot smoke. We sophomores have finished school, but you juniors haven't yet. Now it's time to clean our assigned area. A teacher will be here soon to patrol and inspect. If you are not satisfied with our cleaning in this area..."
Yan Sui suddenly threw the broom in her hand forward.
With a "bang", the broom fell to the ground, raising the ashes scattered around.
"Then you guys can clean this area yourselves." She spoke slowly, her expression calm as she gazed at the people before her. Ignoring the discarded broom in front of her, she looked as if she was stating an ordinary matter.
The boy facing the broom was stunned for a moment, and only realized the series of actions after hearing what the other party said.
Having been humiliated out of the blue, his brows instantly turned sullen, his eyes gleaming with cruelty: "Fuck you, who are you threatening?"
The boy sitting behind him gave Yan Sui a thumbs-up, but his expression was full of disdain. "Are sophomores so arrogant now? Be careful, or you'll be scared to tears before the teacher comes."
"I'm just stating the facts. We can't clean up like this." Yan Sui looked indifferent, ignoring the other party's threats.
At the same time, the system in my mind suddenly appeared, and a cold mechanical voice called out "Host".
Yan Sui didn't say anything, she knew what the system meant.
Avoid conflict and remember why you came back.
She had originally planned to do the same, but it was clear that this conflict, like the one in her previous life, could not be changed. Conflict was bound to happen, either for her or for the girls around her, and she couldn't bear to watch her classmates face these conflicts alone.
In her previous life, this girl also helped her a lot.
If it can't be avoided, then face it. She stood shoulder to shoulder with her, facing these conflicts together, drawing the fire that was about to ignite onto herself.
She wasn't afraid of trouble, and at worst, she'd just fight. She'd been restrained in the beginning, just to avoid any trouble.
Looking at the boy in front of her with his eyes wide open and his body movements ready to move, Yan Sui couldn't help but clench her other fist and began to observe his every move.
But the sudden ringing of a bell in her ear brought her back to reality, and her clenched fists slowly loosened.
The time is almost up.
Several boys gathered around her and another girl. She slowly lowered her hand, which was holding the girl's upper arm, and held it tightly. The other girl also held her back, and the tight grip seemed to pass on strength to each other.
The moment a boy pushed her, she stepped back and avoided the force of the boy's push.
The action failed and the boy's hand retracted.
Yan Sui pulled the girl back until her back was pressed tightly against the wall.
There was no way to retreat, but Yan Sui also knew that at least she had stabilized her body now and they would not suffer any substantial harm.
This was school, so no matter how outrageous these people were, they wouldn't dare to do anything. In her previous life, she'd argued with them even more fiercely, but the biggest conflict was just a few people surrounding her and pushing her, pushing her into a corner and then stopping. Or she'd accidentally fallen and twisted her ankle while struggling.
But if they really attacked, she would definitely fight back even if she was outnumbered.
Just as she was observing the boy's hand movements, a strange yet familiar voice suddenly rang in her ears.
"What are you doing?"
Yan Sui's originally vigilant eyes froze in an instant.
A group of people looked towards the source of the sound. She reacted a little late, and it took her a while before she followed everyone's gaze towards the source of the sound.
The tall boy slowly straightened his back, his formal school uniform now looking a little disheveled. His chest rose and fell, and his panting through his thin lips betrayed the haste with which he had come.
In the sunlight, his fair skin was flushed with the color of exercise, and his hair, wet with sweat, was tangled in wisps, a little messy and blocking his forehead. His eyes were deep beneath his sword-like brows, and the moment their eyes met, she seemed to see a hint of emotion in his eyes that was eager to be exposed.
"Who are you? Get out of here right now."
Yu Shuli raised the corners of his lips, and looked at them with a mocking look: "Who do you care who I am?"
One of the boys surrounding Yan Sui lost his temper first, raised his palm and approached Yu Shuli, saying in a bad tone: "Damn, here comes another blind idiot. If you don't want to get beaten, get out of here right away—"
His slap was blocked, and Yu Shuli grabbed his arm to stop his movement.
When he had steadied the boy's arm, he suddenly tightened his grip, the smile on his face vanishing: "Want to fight?"
The boy's expression froze.
Yu Shuli tilted his head slightly and said to the group of people surrounding Yan Sui, "When I came here just now, I saw that the teacher had already walked to Building 3. Are you sure you want to stay here?"
After he finished speaking, he grinned and said, "Are you going to put that garbage on the ground here as evidence?"
The boys surrounding Yan Sui and the others were all stunned. After looking at each other, they unanimously decided to leave.
The boy in front of Yu Shuli withdrew his hand and said to Yu Shuli with a fierce look on his face: "I'll let you go this time. Don't give us a chance to catch you. You'll be waiting for us when the time comes."
Yu Shuli smiled slowly: "I'll be happy to accompany you."
Several boys hurriedly left from the other exit, not even having time to clean up the cigarette ashes on the ground.
The girl next to Yan Sui cursed them as "cowards" after they left. She looked at the cigarette ashes on the ground with a sad face and said, "They left a pile of garbage and asked us to clean it up for them."
Yu Shuli slowly walked up to them and glanced at the garbage on the ground: "Leave it for the teacher to see."
The girl hurriedly looked up and thanked Yu Shuli: "Thank you, classmate, you helped us a lot, and you also made people hate you."
"It's okay," Yu Shuli extended his hand to the girl and smiled, "My name is Yu Shuli."
"Wen Qingman."
Yan Sui was still lost in her own thoughts when she saw the light in front of her was half blocked by someone, and along with the shadow came a hand reaching out towards her -
"Hello, I'm Yu Shuli from Science Class 1."
