Chapter 27: Finding Tan Shu

Chapter 27: Finding Tan Shu

The car slowed down at some point.

The traffic on the lane was very fast. Through the thin car window, cars kept passing by from the side lane, and the whistling sounds drowned out the car music.

Yan Sui rested her head on the headrest of the car seat, her eyes fixed on the person in the passenger seat.

Lin Jingyang was silent for a long time, not knowing what he was thinking. Suddenly, he reached out and turned off the car music.

The only source of sound in the car disappeared, and the quiet environment brought the two people's state of mind to another level.

Lin Jingyang tilted his head, his gaze fixed on Yan Sui for a second, and chuckled, "Yan Sui."

"I won't hurt you."

In the evening, Yan Zhaoting came back.

Sui Yuling was chatting with Ping'an and his sister on the sofa. When she saw him come back, she put down her things and walked towards Yan Zhaoting with a look of surprise. "Didn't you say you wouldn't be coming back today?"

She naturally took the coat from Yan Zhaoting and hung it on her arm.

"The factory is fine, so I came back."

Sui Yuling hung the coat in the entrance hall and dusted it off before taking it to the laundry room to hang it up, preparing to wash it together with the other clothes he was wearing.

After Sui Yuling left the laundry room, Yan Sui came out from the dark corner of the stairs.

She looked around and saw that there was no one around, so she hid sideways in the laundry room.

Yan Zhaoting's clothes were hanging in the middle of the laundry room. Yan Sui pursed her lips and raised her hand to search several pockets of the clothes, but there was nothing.

Come to think of it, how could someone like Yan Zhaoting leave evidence in a place where it could be easily discovered?

She took something out of her pocket and quietly put it into Yan Zhaoting's pocket, then rubbed the foundation on the back of her hand on the collar of his clothes.

After doing all this, she hid again before Sui Yuling came back, and went upstairs quietly from the side.

The moment she closed the door, her back pressed against it. After successfully completing what she had just done, her pounding heart slowly calmed down. She breathed a sigh of relief, slowly slid down the door, and fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

.

The next morning, when Yan Sui went downstairs, she found Sui Yuling holding a pair of scissors in front of a green plant. Her eyes were dull and she didn't know what she was staring at.

Yan Sui blinked and walked over calmly: "Mom."

"Ah?" A call immediately called Sui Yuling's attention back. She looked up at Yan Sui and forced a smile on her face: "Sui Sui."

Yan Sui glanced at the green plants in front of her and asked, "What are you daydreaming about so early in the morning?"

"Nothing, I just got up and I'm still a little sleepy."

"Is that so?" Yan Sui looked around and asked, "Where's Dad?"

Sui Yuling was startled, then her eyes began to evade, and she stammered, "I've already gone to the factory."

After getting the answer she wanted, Yan Sui no longer needed to ask any further questions.

After greeting Sui Yuling, she changed her shoes and went out.

As soon as she left the yard, the system hurriedly asked in her mind: "Host, have you changed your mind?"

Yan Sui put his hands in his pockets and said "hmm" softly.

"Actually, I should have let Mom know about this a long time ago. I told you when I first came back that my authority is limited. You alone can't balance the tasks and take into account the feelings of others."

Yan Sui rarely refuted: "You are right."

She looked back, and through the gap in the railings, she could still see Sui Yuling standing in front of the green plants through the glass. She murmured, "But I just want to try and see if there is a way to prevent her from being sad."

But it turns out, no.

Yan Sui might be able to uncover the truth about Yan Zhaoting's affairs alone, but after a period of probing, Yan Sui discovered that Sui Yuling's trust in Yan Zhaoting was a problem she couldn't overcome.

She has no golden finger, and she needs to follow all the clues step by step.

Now she knew in advance the date Yan Zhaoting would have Sui Yuling sign the loan agreement. Even if she found a way to avoid it this time, would the butterfly effect of Yan Zhaoting's rejection prompt him to come up with another plan? Without the clues that could predict the future from her previous life, she was a helpless student.

If one day Sui Yuling signs something under the coaxing of Yan Zhaoting, Yan Sui will be powerless to change the outcome.

She thought about it over and over again, but still couldn't think of a way to protect Sui Yuling.

Then she could only choose to minimize the damage caused by this incident, and slowly lay the groundwork for Sui Yuling from the very beginning to let her know that Yan Zhaoting might betray her, so that doubts would arise in her heart.

With this foreshadowing, even if she knew the whole story later, at least she wouldn't be hit by multiple blows at once like in her previous life.

It’s just a man’s betrayal, Yan Sui gritted her teeth.

She believed her mother could.

Tan Shu's home is not far from Yan Sui's home. It takes only two minutes to walk to the small Western-style building where Tan Shu lives.

Yan Sui took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell.

After a while, Tan Shu's voice rang out from the intercom next to the doorbell: "Hello, who are you looking for?"

Yan Sui's eyes were calm as he said, "It's me, Yan Sui."

“…”

The call was like a pause button was pressed, and the voice on the other end of the phone stopped abruptly.

The doorbell of Tan Shu's house is the same as that of Yan Sui's house. It is the doorbell installed by the property management of Luwan Community and does not have the video surveillance function.

Yan Sui did not send a message to Tan Shu in advance because she wanted to try to see if she could meet Tan Shu by going directly to her house and leaving her with no way out.

After waiting for a minute, the phone seemed to have been hung up and no sound came out.

"Shushu," Yan Sui knew she was still there. "I know you're still here. Don't hide from me. Some things can't be hidden."

The second after the words fell, the door of the villa was pushed open from the inside.

Tan Shu was still wearing pajamas, her hair was messy, and her face showed exhaustion. It was obvious that she had been suffering a lot during this period.

"You know everything?" Tan Shu looked at her in shock.

Yan Sui looked her up and down and asked, "What do you think I should know?"

Tan Shu: “…”

.

Even when Yan Sui stood in Tan Shu's room, Tan Shu still looked uneasy.

Yan Sui looked at the confusion revealed in her eyes and eyebrows, and the guess in his heart became more certain.

Tan Shu pulled her to sit on the bed, his hand holding Yan Sui's still shaking: "Sui Sui, I..."

Yan Sui turned sideways, took Tan Shu's hand in hers, and wrapped it tightly in her own palm. "Shu Shu, we agreed before that no matter what happens, don't hide it from me."

Her voice paused and lowered, "Even if it's something bad for me."

As soon as Yan Sui finished speaking, tears welled up in Tan Shu's eyes, "I'm sorry, Sui Sui, I really don't know how to tell you this."

Yan Sui raised her hand to wipe away her tears, staring into Tan Shu's eyes and said seriously: "I just want to hear you tell me."

“.......”

Tan Shu stared at her eyes blankly. Yan Sui held her hand tightly and nodded affirmatively.

Tan Shu stopped crying, sniffed, and straightened his back with determination: "Sui Sui, I found something."

"It seems your father is cheating on you."

.

Tan Shu discovered this last Monday night.

Monday night was the rehearsal time for their choir, but the teacher who was in charge of the rehearsal that day received a call halfway through and it seemed that there was something going on at home, so he ended the rehearsal early and asked everyone to go back to class.

Tan Shu finished her homework early. There was only one class left before the end of the evening study. She didn't want to attend the evening study, so she and Yu Shuli decided to skip the class together.

She had no activities in the evening, so she took a taxi home directly after leaving school.

But after returning home, she felt very sleepy after watching TV for a while, perhaps because she was too tired from overworking her brain in classes during the day or something else.

Tan Shu was too lazy to go upstairs, so he turned off the TV and fell asleep on the sofa with his clothes on.

When she woke up again, she was woken by the sound of her parents chatting in the restaurant.

Perhaps it was because she turned off the lights in the living room. She sank into the sofa and the living room seemed empty. Her parents, who were chatting in the dining room, didn't even notice that she had returned.

The two of them talked about their friends in front of her.

Tan Shu was not interested in the grown-up melons of the uncles and aunts around her. Just when she was about to stand up and ask her father to make her a bowl of noodles, she suddenly heard the name of Yan Sui's father from her father.

"Two days ago, at a dinner party, Yan Zhaoting brought that San'er with him. We were all shocked. The boss asked him, 'You haven't divorced yet! Isn't he afraid of Sui Yuling finding out by bringing a woman from outside to the dinner party so openly?'"

"Who knew that old fox Yan Zhaoting said he wanted to divorce Sui Yuling before the Chinese New Year this year?"

Tan Shu's mother was shocked: "So soon? Is he really going to get married to that woman? He doesn't want to have any of our three children anymore?"

"From what he said, he plans to go abroad with that woman."

Tan Shu's mother cursed Yan Zhaoting in a low voice, then sighed. "I ran into Sui Yuling in the neighborhood a few days ago. She was so cheerful that she said Old Yan had been home lately and asked me to go play mahjong with you and the couple when I was free. I looked at her face and felt really embarrassed to face her. You see, Yan Zhaoting is such a man, he's actually capable of abandoning his wife and children."

Tan Shu's father also sighed. "I tried to persuade him last year when he started dating that girl. Sui Yuling has been with him for so many years and has given birth to three children for him. I told him to think about his family. At that time, he said he was just playing around with other women. Who knew that he would go from bad to worse later on?"

"Boss was feeling bad and wanted to bring it up with Sui Yuling. But the next day, Yan Zhaoting was keeping that woman outside, so he came to his store and placed a large order."

"You said he suddenly brought in a huge order for Mr. Dong, taking over all of his business for the past six months. How could he have the nerve to warn others? Who wouldn't want to go against money?"

Tan Shu's mother: "Yeah, who can resist money?"

At the end of the conversation, Tan Shu's father reminded her: "Don't tell Sui Yuling about these things. Don't interfere in other people's family affairs."

"Why would I say that? I don't even have the face to say it even if you ask me to. I didn't say it earlier. It's been a year since I said it, and now it's the end. I'm in big trouble now, and I'm in big trouble."

"That's it, don't meddle in other people's business."

“…”

Tan Shu was still lying on the sofa in a half-raised position, and his heart felt like it was stabbed by something.

My best friend's family had an accident.

Her own parents helped her father conceal his infidelity.

She suddenly didn't know how to face Yan Sui.
