Chapter Eight: A Day of Crazy Shopping

Before going to bed that night, Da Ni and Er Ni chattered on and on, asking Li Rou Niang many questions about things in town.

Li Rouniang only went once, seven years ago, and there were many questions she couldn't answer. Fortunately, the children soon got sleepy and fell asleep, which relieved Li Rouniang.

Although Li Rouniang had been busy all day, she couldn't fall asleep when it was late at night. She was planning to buy more things to store in her space the next day. To put it bluntly, she felt insecure!

Although Zhao Dayou and his brothers have temporarily gone to the mine, Zhao's mother and daughter are still a problem; they can't be locked up forever.

Moreover, are they really going to starve to death?

She still has to raise her children, so she absolutely cannot do anything illegal. Otherwise, if she gets caught and ends up in jail, it will be her children who suffer!

What should we do?

This is so worrying!

As she pondered these thoughts, Li Rouniang drifted off to sleep...

The next morning, when Li Rouniang opened her eyes, Da Ni and Er Ni were already up early and excited.

At this moment, the two girls were excitedly putting on their little skirts and looking at themselves in the bronze mirror!

"Good morning, Mother." Da Ni greeted Li Rou Niang as soon as she saw that she was awake.

"Mother, when are we leaving?" Erni asked impatiently.

"We'll leave after breakfast." Li Rouniang also got up.

First, they fed Sanni milk, and then the three of them ate a little bit.

Li Rouniang went to check on Granny Zhao and Zhao Dahua. Having gone hungry all night, the two looked terrible, lying half-dead on the ground.

Li Rouniang felt no sympathy. After all, she herself had been starved for three days back then, and no one had shown her any sympathy.

Lining a bamboo basket with a soft cotton quilt, she gently carried Sanni on her back, then held one child in each hand. The four of them, mother and daughters, set off towards town, facing the rising sun.

Li Rouniang's town is called Kaoshan Town, a remote place in Dongyang Kingdom. The emperor is far away and the sky is high. If it weren't for the discovery of a mine, the emperor probably wouldn't even know that there was such a place in his country. Of course, he would never know that there was such a poor woman like herself.

The town wasn't far; the group arrived in about half an hour.

It's so lively!

Compared to Zhao Family Village, a village with only about a hundred households, Kaoshan Town is much larger and more bustling.

After all, this is the only town in the surrounding area, and many people gather here to do business.

Last night, Li Rouniang put all the things she had hastily stored in her spatial storage back in their original places. After all, she didn't plan to leave anytime soon, and it was hard to say what would happen if the things disappeared.

Currently, the only items in the space are two taels and five hundred copper coins obtained from Granny Zhao and a pair of silver earrings.

One tael of silver could be exchanged for one thousand copper coins. Li Rouniang figured she wouldn't need to spend silver often, so she planned to exchange one tael first.

After all, I was penniless and had a lot of things to buy.

After inquiring along the way and exchanging the silver, they took their daughters to a cloth shop.

The proprietress greeted her warmly, "Young lady, you've brought your child to buy fabric? I have all kinds of fabrics. Take a look and see which one you want, and I'll give you a discount."

Li Rouniang didn't hesitate either, buying a whole bunch of fabrics for making undergarments, outer garments, and bed sheets, making the fabric shop owner beam with joy. She kept praising how cute and pretty Ni Erni was.

This made Da Ni and Er Ni wonder if they were reincarnated fairies!

Li Rouniang was also happy and bought beautiful cloth shoes for the two children.

Then I looked up and saw a ready-made dress hanging on the wall; it was a very pretty light purple dress.

"Young lady, you have a good eye! This dress is the latest style this year. I would normally sell it for 50 coins, but if you want it, I'll give you a great deal, 40 coins. How about that?" the fabric shop owner said hurriedly.

"I'll buy it for 30 coins." Li Rouniang was also tempted. Over the years, apart from when her mother was alive, she had never worn new clothes. Even when she got married, she wore the clothes that her stepmother had left over.

"Alright, considering how much you bought, it'll be 30 coins." The proprietress felt a little reluctant, but ultimately she would still make a profit.

When Li Rouniang came out wearing her new dress, Da Ni and Er Ni were stunned. No wonder this aunt said they looked like fairies; their mother was a fairy!

"How was it?" Li Rouniang asked shyly.

"Oh my, it's absolutely gorgeous! It looks just like the people in the painting!" The fabric shop owner exclaimed enthusiastically.

Li Rouniang was also in a daze. She bought cloth shoes, then cotton, linen, waterproof cloth, and a bunch of other things.

On the one hand, the proprietress is sweet-talking and good at business; on the other hand, her shop has a really complete selection of items.

After paying, Li Rou Niang, carrying large and small bags, led the children out and turned into an alley. Finding no one around, she put everything into her spatial storage.

Da Ni and Er Ni stared in astonishment, their mouths agape: "Mom, do you know magic?"

“It’s not magic, it’s just that Mother has a magical space…” Li Rou Niang didn’t intend to hide it from her children and told them everything. Finally, she instructed, “You two must keep this a secret from Mother, or I will be kidnapped by bad people.”

Da Ni and Er Ni nodded immediately, their young faces full of seriousness.

Li Rouniang couldn't help but chuckle, and took their hands, saying, "Then let's go see something else."

As the mother and her three daughters stepped out of the alley, Li Rouniang suddenly felt a gaze fixed on her.

Instinctively, she looked over and saw a dark-skinned man staring straight at her, his eyes filled with undisguised amazement.

When the man saw Li Rouniang looking at him, he quickly lowered his head and hurriedly walked forward, almost tripping in the process.
