Chapter 19 No One Survives

As for the kidnapping case, Chen Zirong had already died in the warehouse fire, so they could only start with the gang. After a long investigation, they still made no progress.

After leaving the warehouse, the gangsters all died one after another in a short period of time, either from accidents or illnesses. No one survived, so their plans were always interrupted just as they had begun to make some progress.

In the reflection of the setting sun, Fu Linxiao's face was still terribly gloomy. This matter not only involved the safety of the little girl, but also involved the incident when his aunt was in danger. These two things were connected together, making him feel a sense of crisis he had never felt before. There was no connection between the little girl and his aunt, and the little girl had never even seen her aunt. After nearly 20 years, what was the reason that made the person behind the scenes take action again?

There was a knock on the office door, interrupting my thoughts. Lin Cong came in with Jiang Linghao.

Jiang Linghao took out a stack of documents and handed them to Fu Linxiao. He said solemnly, "I asked Shuyan to retrieve all the medical records and causes of death of those gangsters who passed away. He did find any abnormalities."

Jiang Linghao found a person's information and put it in Fu Linxiao's hand.

"This person had been healthy throughout his annual physical exams, including one two months before his death, and all his indicators were normal. It's impossible for him to have advanced cancer and have it spread throughout his body in just two months."

After saying that, he found another piece of information and placed it in front of Fu Linxiao.

"And this, rabies... His girlfriend runs a pet hospital, and she broke out with rabies without warning, and died on the spot before the ambulance even arrived. But there weren't any signs of animal bites on his body... Anyway, these people who died from illnesses that failed to be treated all had a lot of unreasonable or too-easy signs. Next, I'll start by investigating their family and friends to see if there were any abnormalities before they died! As for the Yu brothers who died in accidents, we're investigating them, and we should have results soon."

Fu Linxiao looked at the densely packed information in front of him. Combining it with Jiang Shuyan and Jiang Linghao's investigation, the implication of all this being covered up was too obvious: murder to silence witnesses and destruction of the body.

"What do you think they are trying to cover up?" Fu Linxiao looked at Jiang Linghao.

Jiang Linghao sat on the sofa opposite him, picked up the cup of coffee Lin Cong had prepared for him, and said slowly, "Whether it's covering up the fire or kidnapping, they're guilty as thieves! They're afraid of being found out, so they're killing them all."

Fu Linxiao looked at the medical records of the people in front of him and found out that there were 12 people who broke into the warehouse that year, and now 8 of them have died of illness. No one would believe that it was a coincidence.

Both of them were thinking about something in the office, and the ringing of the phone broke the silence.

Jiang Linghao saw the caller ID, picked up the phone, and immediately pressed the speakerphone. Lu Zifan's tired voice came from the other end of the line: "Second brother, my eldest brother and I found out that the younger brother of a gangster is still alive. He and the gangster were in a car accident. The gangster died on the spot, but he was sent to the South City Mental Hospital shortly after the gangster's death. We're on our way there now. Do you want to come over?"

Jiang Linghao looked up at Fu Linxiao, only to see the person opposite him nod in response.

"Lin Xiao and I will go together. We will meet at the mental hospital."

After saying that, the two of them stood up and prepared to leave.

Fu Linxiao walked to the door, and as if remembering something, he turned to Lin Cong and instructed, "The meeting tonight will be postponed. You can handle the remaining work first. If you really can't make a decision, go back to the old house and find my dad!"

Lin Cong wanted to say something, but Fu Linxiao disappeared from the office without even a glance. Lin Cong was left with a bewildered look on his face, silently picking up the documents to process.

South City Mental Hospital.

It was already dark when the four of them met. They immediately went into the hospital, found the dean's office, and asked about the gangster's situation.

The dean looked at the four extraordinary people in front of him, and only after hearing their purpose did he let out a breath and suppress his inner uneasiness.

"Master Fu, Young Master Jiang, the man you four are asking about is called Jia Jun. He was sent here by his girlfriend 10 years ago. His girlfriend said that because his brother died in a car accident in front of her, he couldn't bear the shock and became mentally ill. However, no one came to visit him since then, and his girlfriend couldn't be contacted. I felt sorry for him, so I let him stay in the hospital to recuperate."

After hearing the dean's words, Jiang Linghao asked, "Would it be convenient for us to meet this Jia Jun?"

"Of course, you can. However, it's best not to be in the same space. His condition is still unstable at times, and I'm afraid he might attack others, which could cause harm."

The four nodded in agreement.

After walking down a long corridor, the dean opened the first door of a room and saw a thin-faced man sitting inside the iron gate. There was no light in the room and the curtains were closed. It was not until the door was opened that the dim yellow light shone into the room through the railings.

"Jia Jun, someone is here to see you."

The dean's voice didn't attract Jia Jun's attention. The man remained seated on the wooden bed, his eyes blank. The dean called his name a few more times before the man finally looked up at the newcomer, his expression unchanged. It was as if he was just a shell, soulless, with a blank stare. It was unclear who he was looking at at the door.
