Chapter 10 Dead Man's Stuff

Ji Heng's heart skipped a beat. "Did she really say that?"

Aunt Zhang nodded and said, "Yes."

Ye Lan slapped the armrest of the sofa in anger, her eyebrows raised, anger flashing in her eyes. She said sternly, "This Li Shu is getting more and more presumptuous! If she keeps up like this, the entire Ji family will be overthrown by her!"

Ji Heng waved his hand, signaling Zhang Ma to leave first. He then glanced at Ye Lan beside him and said, "Alright, she's very resistant to you now. I'll go talk to her later."

He paused and continued, "Also, Li Shu is our biological daughter after all. You are too impatient with her. Even if Qianya has been raised by your side since she was a child and our relationship is close, she is still an outsider after all."

"No matter what, the position of the eldest daughter of the Ji family still belongs to Li Shu. If you let an outsider who has no blood relationship with you be the eldest daughter, you will be laughed at if you tell others about it."

"You need to give all the servants in the house a good scolding and make them change their ways."

Upon hearing this, Ye Lan turned to look at him, her brows full of disbelief. She couldn't believe that he had said this. "How can you say Qianya is an outsider? She is your precious daughter who you have spoiled since she was a child!"

Ji Heng frowned, thinking she was being unreasonable. "Families like ours value bloodline the most, not to mention the Shen family. If the marriage is really agreed upon, the only one who will marry into the family is Li Shu."

"Your focus right now should be on Li Shu, raising her to be the daughter of a wealthy family, instead of getting angry with her all day long."

"Besides, you should also think about it from her perspective. Growing up in that slum, the people she interacted with were all vulgar and uneducated. How much education can you expect from her? It's a good thing she didn't learn bad habits."

"I..." Ye Lan lost her temper instantly after hearing what he said.

Ji Heng rubbed his temple tiredly, stood up, patted her shoulder, and said, "Think about it carefully. I'll go upstairs and rest for a while."

Ye Lan glanced at his departing back, slowly withdrew her gaze, and began to reflect on herself.

On this side, after leaving the ancient street, Qin Can did not dare to delay any longer and hurried home. After all, his life was in danger.

Along the way, he was wondering who wanted to harm him. After thinking about it, he decided that the most likely person was the mistress his father married later.

She simply wanted to kill him quietly so that the unborn bastard in her belly could inherit the Qin family's property.

"Xiaocan, why are you back so early today?" Shao Jing held her waist with her hands and looked at Qin Can who came in from outside, with a hint of surprise in her eyes.

Qin Can didn't say anything, his eyes slid across her round belly, and then he walked straight to the elevator.

After going up to the third floor, I went straight to my room.

He opened the door and walked into the room, and started searching his bed. He lifted the mattress with force, but there was nothing underneath.

He lay on the ground again and looked under the bed, but there was still nothing on the smooth and shiny floor.

He slowly stood up, put his hands on his hips, looked around the room, and muttered to himself: "Where is it hiding..."

Qin Can now believed Li Shu's words without a doubt and did not believe in anything else, so he started to rummage through the wardrobe and drawers again.

He searched everywhere he could find something, but still found nothing.

"Fuck!" Qin Can plopped down on the messy bed, scratching his hair in annoyance. "How about I send a message to ask the Master?"

Having said that, he quickly reached into his pocket, but found that his cell phone was not there.

Qin Can stood up and looked at the bed behind him, only to find that his cell phone had fallen next to the pillow at some point.

He bent down and reached out to take the phone, and when his eyes accidentally fell on the pillow, he paused, his eyes fixed, and suddenly thought of something, and picked up the pillow.

He unzipped the pillowcase and pulled out the pillow core, but there was nothing hidden inside.

Qin Can was a little discouraged and punched the pillow. The next moment, his face changed slightly and he realized something was wrong.

There seems to be something inside the pillow!

Qin Can quickly took a pair of scissors and cut open the pillow core, then separated the white goose down filling inside and found something.

It was a sealed red cloth bag that was not even as big as a palm.

Qin Can used scissors to cut it open along the edge. When he saw what was inside, he almost threw it out, "Fuck!"

There was a complete fingernail and some hair lying quietly inside, which looked like something from a dead person.

You should know that he usually only sleeps on the inner half of the bed, and he sleeps quite quietly without making too many movements, so the other pillow is hardly used.

If he hadn't punched it today, he really wouldn't have discovered it.

He collected his thoughts, thought about what Li Shu said, suppressed his nausea, and was about to get a lighter when there were two knocks on the door.

Qin Can was startled by the sudden knock on the door. He put down the red cloth bag in his hand, frowned, walked over and opened the door.

Seeing that it was Shao Jing, his eyes darkened. He leaned out half of his tall body, making it difficult to see what was going on inside the room. He said in a cold voice, "What are you doing here?"

Shao Jing smiled, took the tray from the servant behind her, and said softly: "Xiaocan, I saw that you went out without eating breakfast today, so I asked the kitchen to prepare something for you."

Qin Can narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of coldness flashed in his eyes, and he waved his hand to knock the tray to the ground, "Get out, don't bother me."

Shao Jing's eyes flickered slightly, but there was no trace of anger on her face. She tucked the hair behind her ears and said with a smile, "It's okay. There's more in the kitchen. Come down and eat when you're hungry."

Qin Can didn't respond, but glanced at her deeply, then slammed the door shut.

Back in the room, without a moment's hesitation, he quickly picked up the lighter thrown on the coffee table, walked to the balcony outside, and burned the creepy and disgusting thing along with the red cloth bag to ashes.

He didn't know if it was an illusion or something, but the moment it was lit, he seemed to feel a faint chill.

Qin Can rubbed his shoulders, took out the amulet folded into a triangle from his pocket and held it in his palm, feeling much more at ease instantly.

He returned to the room and, in order not to alert the enemy, put the cut pillow core back into the pillowcase, and then tidied up the mess he had turned upside down.

After working for half a day, Qin Can finally took a break. He walked to the sofa with his mobile phone, sat down, unlocked the screen, clicked on WeChat, and sent a message to Li Shu.

[Master, I have found and burned the unclean things you mentioned. Is there anything else I should do next?]

Li Shu replied quickly: "No need. Just keep the talisman close to your body when you go to sleep. Don't lose it. It will be fine after tonight."

Qin Can spread out his left hand, glanced at the talisman on his palm, and then typed a reply: [I understand, Master.]
