Chapter 613 Target

[The target has appeared; participants are requested to complete the task.]

Wu Yue pinched Cuihua's little pigtails and squinted as she looked over. What she could see was not clear, but it seemed to be a boy wearing a blue and white school uniform. She couldn't make out his face, and there was no terrifying black mist surrounding him.

Wu Yue's fear subsided somewhat, and she opened her squinted eyes, seeing clearly. A boy in a high school uniform had a neat buzz cut, well-defined eyebrows and eyes, distinct features, and a handsome face. He exuded a clean and pure aura.

The sound of the night wind filled my ears, clear and bright, carrying the desolate autumn colors. The quiet, deserted atmosphere gradually eroded everything along the road.

Wu Yue walked towards him. Under the streetlights, the boy cast no shadow. He was holding a Walkman in his hand, and in the quiet night, the sound from the Walkman came through the frequently used earphones, which could be vaguely discerned to be related to English.

"Hello." Wu Yue stopped about half an arm's length away from him. Her voice was a little hoarse, probably from nervousness. Fortunately, the ghost was handsome and didn't seem like he would suddenly go berserk, so Wu Yue wasn't too afraid.

The "hello" seemed to float in the air for a while before reaching the boy's ears. He turned his head stiffly, his back ramrod straight, as if every movement of his body had been measured beforehand, done with perfect precision, elegant and upright.

The girl in front of him was beautiful and looked quite young, but the boy could sense the marks of time on her. He paused for two seconds, then politely said, "Hello, sister."

"Is this Xian'e Mountain? Why are you here all alone?" Wu Yue forced herself to talk to him.

The boy had clearly pondered this question many, many times. As soon as Wu Yue asked, he answered without hesitation, "This is a main road at the foot of Xian'e Mountain. Why am I here? Perhaps it's because I can't find my way home. I've been waiting here for a long time, but no one has come to pick me up."

Suddenly inspired, Wu Yue said, "Shall I take you home?"

The boy paused, then smiled and shook his head. "Thank you for your kindness, sister, but I can't go back yet. I need to finish this test paper."

He raised the test paper in his hand, then pulled a black pen from his pocket and sat down on the stone ledge by the roadside. He spread the test paper on his lap, and the pen tip touched the smooth paper as he began to solve the problems.

Wu Yue took a deep breath, moved closer to him, and sat down beside him. She looked at the questions on the test paper and chatted casually like a neighborly older sister: "Are these high school questions? I just started college this year. If you don't understand anything, you can ask me."

"……good."

The boy didn't raise his head; his gaze remained fixed on the exam paper, not shifting an inch.

Fang Chengyi, Class 7, Senior 3.

Wu Yue saw his name and grade on the test paper and silently memorized them.

Fang Chengyi's handwriting was beautiful and neat, each stroke clear and elegant, even the numbers were written like printed text. He completed this comprehensive test with ease; Wu Yue glanced at the few questions casually, and his answers were clear, complete, and without a single mistake.

Without a doubt, this guy is a top student.

The night was quiet, and breathing was shallow. The sound of the pen strokes was delicate yet rhythmic.

As she turned the page of the exam paper, Wu Yue heard the boy beside her let out a sob.

For their safety's sake, Wu Yue didn't dare touch Fang Chengyi. She stared at the tearful boy, softened her voice, and gently asked, "What's wrong?"

"Sister, I'm so sad."

"..."

"I'm already dead, completely dead. Why won't she let me go?"

Seeing the boy's pained expression, Wu Yue seemed to have figured out what the mission was.

Amidst the sparse, swaying autumn colors, her words were like divine pronouncements, carrying an incredible power of comfort: "I'll take you home, and send you...wherever you want to go."
