(A story of starting over)
Bai Xin half-covered her face; the side where Fu Hange had hit her swelled up rapidly, the lines of five fingers instantly appearing on her face, then spreading and growing larger. Because Fu Hange had hit her so hard, Bai Xin's face was burning hot.
Bai Xin was furious. She had never suffered such humiliation before. Seeing Fu Hange get up and prepare to leave again, she immediately grabbed her hand.
Fu Hange was forced to be pulled back by her. Seeing that Fu Hange was caught off guard, Bai Xin wanted to take advantage of Fu Hange's inattention to return the slap. This time, she raised her hand higher than Fu Hange, and the expression on her face became extremely distorted, as if she was eager for revenge.
She thought Fu Hange was going to be beaten senseless this time, but her hand was grabbed by Fu Hange just as it was about to hit her face. Instead of feeling like she was going to be hit, Fu Hange grabbed her hand and twisted it down with a backhand. As the joint was twisted, she felt a sharp pain and couldn't help but cry out in pain.
The grating sound filled Fu Hange's ears, and she frowned, annoyed by it.
Bai Xin was still crying out in pain. Fu Hange slowly released her hand and said, "You should say less of these things in the future, or you'll only suffer the consequences."
After saying that, she picked up her suitcase and strode away, leaving Bai Xin with a dashing back view.
Bai Xin frowned and moved her wrists, muttering curses under her breath as she did so.
Just watch, she'll get it back herself one day.
——
It was lunchtime, so Fu Hange went into a Chinese restaurant alone and ordered a few simple home-style dishes. The food was pretty good; although not as good as Western food, it had a familiar and comforting feel to it.
After the meal, she finally entered her destination upon returning to China—the Xu Group. She deliberately arrived late, since Xu Haicang needed her help, she naturally had to make him wait.
Inside the president's office, Fu Hange pushed open the door and entered. What came into view was Xu Haicang lounging in his swivel chair with his legs crossed, looking utterly bored.
Perhaps noticing her, Xu Haicang quickly got up and patted Xu Yi, who was sleeping on the table.
If it weren't for Xu Haicang's repeated pleas, she truly wished she would never set foot in the Xu family again for the rest of her life.
She got straight to the point: "I've already agreed to what you said. If nothing unexpected happens, I can start work tomorrow."
When Xu Haicang saw her return, his tone was tinged with excitement: "There's no rush with work; you can take up your post whenever you want. You must be tired from your journey, right? Have you eaten? Would you like to eat together...?"
"I've already eaten." Fu Hange didn't want to listen to his rambling anymore and directly refused.
"How dare you talk like that? Dad hasn't eaten yet because he's been waiting for you. How can you be so rude?" Xu Yi couldn't stand her arrogant attitude.
She shifted her gaze from Xu Haicang to Xu Yi, and said in a seemingly gentle tone, "Xu Yi, right? I've heard you're a dissolute playboy with a mountain of romantic entanglements, and I heard that a woman recently got pregnant because of you?"
Xu Yi was speechless: "That's a rumor, you can't believe it. I'm telling you, you've never been in a relationship and you're lecturing me. We call this free-style dating, what do you know?"
Fu Hange ignored him and couldn't explain it to him. As if remembering something, she suddenly asked, "Where is Mingheng?"
"It's not far, just one street away from our Xu family's place," Xu Haicang replied with a smile.
One street? What a coincidence! Fate really knows how to play tricks on people. Does that mean she might run into Gu Yuan every day? The thought is terrifying.
