Chapter 163 Never cared

Xu Yi found it utterly incomprehensible. He spoke so casually, only concerned with getting money from Jiang Xiaoling. Did he know how hard she worked?

His tone made it sound as if Jiang Xiaoling owed him something and he had to repay her.

Xu Yi could tell that Jiang Xiaoling was also helpless. On one hand, there was her own brother, and on the other hand, there was the money she had worked so hard to earn to save her life. She didn't know what to do.

Jiang Xiaoling said wearily, "I've already given you this month's salary, but we still need to save some money for living expenses."

Her face was full of pain. Life had put too much pressure on her, and she couldn't relax when she got home. She was also oppressed by her brother.

Her words completely enraged Jiang Junchi. He suddenly stood up, grabbed an empty wine bottle from the table, and smashed it at Jiang Xiaoling.

Jiang Xiaoling realized she couldn't avoid it. She'd been beaten like this countless times before and always survived. So she simply closed her eyes and awaited the impending pain.

But the unavoidable pain didn't seem to come. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Xu Yi holding the empty wine bottle, while Jiang Junchi stared at him in astonishment.

"Who do you think you are? How dare you meddle in our family affairs? Let me tell you, get out of here, or I'll kill you!" Jiang Junchi pulled out the wine bottle that Xu Yi was holding and pointed it at him.

Xu Yi chuckled evilly, rolled up his sleeves, snatched the bottle from Jiang Junchi, and smashed it heavily on Jiang Junchi's head.

He cried out in pain, clutched his head, and squatted down, the pain preventing Jiang Junchi from straightening up.

Taking advantage of the situation, Xu Yi grabbed the terrified Jiang Xiaoling and pulled her away. During the process, Jiang Xiaoling tried several times to shake off Xu Yi's hand, but she was unable to break free from his strong and powerful grip.

After finally escaping the dilapidated neighborhood, Xu Yi released her, feeling exceptionally relieved: "Let me tell you, you shouldn't listen to everything he says. You need to protect yourself, you know?"

Jiang Xiaoling didn't seem to appreciate it at all. She looked at Xu Yi with a long face, like a child who had done something wrong and was waiting to be punished.

He put his arm around Jiang Xiaoling's shoulder and asked, "What's wrong? Are you so moved that you're crying your eyes out? Please don't fall for me. I'm a good person in every way, except I'm not responsible."

After Xu Yi finished speaking, Jiang Xiaoling finally let her tears, which she had been holding back for a long time, fall. Silently, she released all the pent-up grievances she had been suppressing.

Xu Yi reached out to wipe away her tears, but it was like a dam had burst; no matter how much he wiped, they wouldn't stop.

She didn't say a word, just stood there crying with her head down.

Xu Yi also grew anxious and even more agitated, pulling her along as they continued walking outside: "Come with me, I'll help you settle in first."

Jiang Xiaoling still tried to break free from him, but this time she couldn't shake him off no matter what she did. Xu Yi held her tightly, and their hands almost merged into one.

He found Jiang Xiaoling a five-star hotel in the city center, not far from Fu Hange's house. It was almost one o'clock, and the hotel staff were all dozing off at the counter.

He used his own account to book a room for Jiang Xiaoling, but Jiang Xiaoling seemed very afraid of such an environment. The whole hotel was brightly lit, but she was hesitant and timid, afraid of doing something wrong.

Xu Yi tossed her a towel: "Take a shower and go to sleep. Don't worry, your brother won't find this place. You can stay as long as you want, no one will say anything."

Fu Hange went to Gu Yuan's house early in the morning to pick him up, but no matter how she called him, Gu Yuan did not respond.

She looked at the combination lock, entered her own birthday, and heard an error message. She had intended to try Gu Yuan's birthday, but it seemed she had never paid attention to it before and therefore had no idea.
