Chapter 178 Qiao Mei harbors resentment towards Grandpa Xiao

“When you go back this time, I’ll teach you a method…”

Grandpa Xiao explained carefully, and Wan'er listened attentively. Finally, Grandpa Xiao wanted to give a few more instructions, but just then, a black spider, the size of an adult's fist, quietly crawled into the cave entrance.

"This isn't an illusion, the spider is real!" Wan'er turned her head and saw the black spider enter the room and hide in the corner, its head slightly raised as it looked at her.

Wan'er felt something was off, but for a moment she didn't know how to deal with it.

"You beast, go back now!" Grandpa Xiao suddenly shouted, and with a flick of his wrist, a leaf flew up from his direction and landed on the black spider's head...

"Pfft!" A plume of black smoke billowed from the spider's body, enveloping it completely. The black spider quickly turned around and fled towards the cave entrance, disappearing in an instant.

For a moment, Grandpa Xiao stared blankly at the cave entrance, seemingly lost in thought.

"Master, Master..." Wan'er's cries startled Grandpa Xiao awake. "What happened to you just now?"

Grandpa Xiao sighed, not answering Wan'er. He suddenly lowered his head, hunched his back, and walked to the stove opposite. He reached his right hand through a small hole in the stove, and after a moment, a small bottle appeared in his palm. The bottle was made of glass, with a narrow opening and an oval shape. It looked completely transparent, and there seemed to be nothing inside.

Just as Wan'er was wondering, Grandpa Xiao came back and handed her the bottle. "I'm giving you a bottle of potion. Take this. When you encounter a complicated illusion, just pour a little into your palm, clear your mind, hold your breath, and focus on the illusion. That will break the illusion..."

"Thank you, Master. Then I'll go back now..." Wan'er reached out and took it, then turned and put it in her backpack. She then turned and walked to the bedside, picked up the sleeping little prince, and said to Grandpa Xiao, "I'll come to see Master again in a while."

"Go on, but remember, don't go that way," Grandpa Xiao instructed, and Wan'er stepped out of the cave...

Before this, on the other side of the cave, Qiao Mei was sitting on the edge of the bed, meditating with her eyes closed, when a black spider swooped in from outside the door frame...

It shot straight towards Qiao Mei's brow, and a black aura spread out. Qiao Mei felt a blockage in her chest, and "Pfft!" she spat out a mouthful of black blood, which flew to the ground in front of the bed.

Qiao Mei swayed, quickly bracing herself against the bed with her left hand, while clutching her chest with the other. Her lowered eyes suddenly snapped open, a red light flashing within them, a fierce glint in them. Her gaze was strange as she looked down at the bloodstains on the ground, gritting her teeth and snarling, "You old bastard! So that's why I couldn't get out! It was you who caused this! Humph! Don't think you can control me. Someone has given me a magic pill to enhance my illusion magic. I believe it won't be long before I'm free. Then I'll find my handsome guy, hahaha…"

Qiao Mei raised her head and laughed loudly, but there was blood at the corner of her mouth and a red light flashed in her eyes. She looked terrible and ugly.

It is said that Mercury and his uncle, having not seen Wan'er all night, still guarded the mountainside. As the sun was about to climb over the mountain, the two began to search around again, occasionally kicking the ground and calling out Wan'er's name.

Just when they were at their wits' end, a dark, upright cave entrance suddenly appeared in the mountains ahead, and Wan'er stepped out, carrying the little prince.

Their backs were facing the direction Wan'er had appeared in...
