Chapter 340 Uncle Hiding in the Cupboard

Something felt off; there was a strong fishy smell in the room.

Sniffing the air, Mercury turned around and walked along the foot of the bed to the cabinet. She lazily turned over and "thump!" leaned her back against the cabinet. But this leaning...

"Dororo..." He felt the large cabinet behind him swaying slightly.

"Who?" Mercury was startled and jumped away from the cabinet. He turned to face the cabinet and saw that the cabinet door was indeed shaking. He could hear heavy breathing coming from inside, which was being suppressed.

Feeling something amiss at her feet, Mercury looked down at the bottom of the cabinet. A trickle of clear water flowed down from under the cabinet to the floor, but didn't reach Mercury's feet...

"Come out!" Mercury shouted, and the crack that had appeared in the cabinet door was pulled inward, causing the door to slam shut instantly...

What's hidden inside?

Mercury took a deep breath, held it, reached out, and flung open the closet door. Several clothes hung inside, swaying slightly…

There's something behind the clothes.

Once again, she cautiously reached out and lifted a hanging garment, but what she saw startled her.

My uncle stood with his arms crossed, leaning against the cabinet. His head was slightly lowered, his upper garment was off, and he was soaking wet. His face was bluish-brown, his eyes bulged outwards, his hair was dry and yellow, and his gaze was dull. He was hugging himself tightly with his arms outstretched, and his feet...

His feet were gone, and a large, bluish-green fish tail was swaying precariously against the side of the cabinet...

"Ah!" Mercury was startled and almost cried out. The next second, he quickly raised his hand to cover his mouth.

Mercury's small eyes widened in shock as he stared at his uncle in disbelief. After lowering his hand, his mouth trembled as he asked, "What happened? You... how did you get like this?"

As he said this, Mercury reached out to help his uncle up.

"You, you've come at the perfect time." The uncle's lips were pale, and he raised his head with a trembling voice.

“This isn’t right. You’ve always been fine, how could you suddenly become like this?” Mercury lowered her voice and leaned closer to ask her uncle.

"Give me my pipe, take a puff, and I'll be fine," the uncle said, each word seeming to be uttered with great effort.

"Where's the tobacco pouch? I'll get it for you," Mercury asked anxiously.

"Yes, yes..." Uncle looked up and pointed to the ceiling opposite.

“Then? But there’s no pipe there.” Mercury turned her head, following the direction her uncle was pointing, and saw only a bare ceiling; nothing else. “You old man, you…”

Mercury hadn't finished speaking when she suddenly felt a hard object, like a pipe, pressing against her back and chest... Then, two hands reached over and pressed on her temples from both sides of her forehead.

Mercury suddenly felt a numbness throughout her body, rendering her unable to move. A burning sensation, accompanied by a faint spiritual light appearing around her, began to enter her body from the outside in...

"Uncle, you can't." Realizing what was about to happen, Mercury stared ahead with a complicated expression. He wanted to shake his head, but his body wouldn't move. His entire body was imprisoned within the halo.

"Child, your uncle is old, and this is all I can do to help you." The uncle's voice was no longer trembling; he seemed to have mustered his last bit of strength.

"No! You can't." Mercury wanted to refuse, but it seemed she no longer had the chance. "You must save yourself."
