Epilogue: Before the Wedding & Her Words

Although Lu Yibei had a thought that made him want to say, "How dare you call someone stupid?", he changed his mind and said instead:

"Old Li is just a C-rank player, he almost couldn't even win over your Pear Brother... Besides, Fuqing is Fuqing, it's not far, do you really think my Che Bao is a pushover? Let him go pick him up!"

Xu Che had just finished vomiting and returned.

He cursed behind Lu Yibei, "It's almost 300 kilometers away, whoever wants to pick them up can go—"

Everyone laughed.

Some people reminisce about the past with sighs of regret.

Someone shouted, "Come on, the cups are red and yellow, and they're all soda!"

Some people burst into laughter, while others raised their eyebrows slightly.

In a daze, they all made me realize whether I had been in the workforce for many years or was still a college student having dinner at a small restaurant near Jiangnan University.

“It seems like a lot has changed,” Lu Yibei said, “but it seems like nothing has changed.”

Everyone nodded.

Lu Yibei gave an example: "For instance, Chu Chu is still a person, just like before."

Chu Chu: "...Wa ...

Everyone seemed to have had some kind of smooth talk resolved.

That felt great.

Chen Dan, however, did not understand.

However, seeing everyone laughing together, she laughed along with them.

Ma Jiaojiao hadn't heard much about Chen Dan's dating history, so she raised an eyebrow and asked:

"Sister Dan, how did you come to like Brother Jie back then?"

The following are Chen Dan's words, the second guest's phone call, relayed by Lu Yibei.

-

I don't know if you've read the novel "You Are the Apple of My Eye". There's a monologue by Shen Jiayi in the book, I don't remember the exact words, but it was something like, "Why does Ke Jingteng like me? I'm not as perfect as he imagines. At home, I also swear, sleep in late, and pick my nose."

Besides, I'm far inferior to Shen Jiayi; I have many shortcomings. Before asking me why I like Liu Jie, I also thought about why Liu Jie likes me. Perhaps it seems obvious to many, but it's not actually the case.

Lu Yibei's portrayal of Liu Jie is indeed flawed, with many shortcomings. I feel the same way. It's just that he didn't directly point out these flaws because he's not familiar with me, yet he's very familiar with Liu Jie. Fortunately, we didn't have much to say about each other; you two are just an ordinary couple among the masses.

Some people's love stories are dramatic, like Ji and Lu's. Like the song in "The Legend of the Flying Girl," it's like crossing a life-or-death moment to meet you again on a motorcycle, your wound as bright purple as my hair. I don't want the rest of my life, I only want the next second; if I dare not kiss you again, you'll disappear again. But if I were to find a song to describe my love, I could never find one. Probably because it's so ordinary.

When you get used to having someone around, that's the beginning of liking someone. It's not passionate, but it lasts a long time. Liu Jie and I are both like that. He's not romantic, and I don't like romance either.

There's something about him that I really like. Liu Jie and I have completely different tastes, or rather, we're totally unrelated. He can fall asleep watching the movies I like. But even if he falls asleep and finds them boring, he'll still watch them with me.

Lu Yibei had asked Liu Jie a long time ago how to write about him and me, and what special stories were involved. She couldn't just write about how we met and then fast-forward to our wedding, could she?

I said, "Writing it this way is fine too." Because I feel that many people seem to get married inexplicably to outsiders, and Liu Jie and I wouldn't mind being typical examples of such people in his story (laughs).

Liu Jie and I are just ordinary people. We had an ordinary crush, an ordinary marriage, and an ordinary life together. He has many flaws, but they are all in ways I don't care about. I am not perfect either, but he doesn't mind.

This is my, and also the "Chen Dan's", love story as you see it. I want to end this chapter with a sentence that "Lu Yibei" said at our wedding, and I quite like that sentence.

"Marriage is a turning point. It may signify the end of youth, but fortunately, our lives are just beginning."

Thanks.
