“It seems that Dan Suo is in danger this time,” Pei Shijiu said.
"Do you remember? When we were at Danseau's house, the brother and sister asked us if we wanted any gems. Could it be that they've already noticed these so-called good things?" Qiao Lian'er guessed.
"It's almost certainly true. When you said you didn't want it, they looked very disappointed. It wouldn't have caused such a big emotional reaction if it wasn't theirs."
"Lian'er, those two siblings are in danger. What should we do next?"
Qiao Lian'er used the space surveyor.
“The jewel isn’t on Dansso; it must be at home. Cedar is home alone. This won’t do; we have to go back.”
Qiao Lian'er originally didn't want to reveal her abilities, but under these circumstances, she had no choice.
She grasped Dansault's sleeve, conveying her thoughts through this shared touch.
"But So, I am the Water Maiden. In fact, I have come with the will of the Naga God. So now, you can hear my words. Answer me with your mind, do not speak them aloud."
But Suo's body jolted, thinking he was hallucinating from being too nervous. He looked at the sleeve that was being tugged, then turned his head in disbelief to look at Qiao Lian'er.
Qiao Lian'er nodded to him. Although her face was covered by a thin veil, the sincerity in her eyes was evident.
"I'm sorry, when you mentioned the gemstone, I didn't realize it might be something you and your brother possessed that put you in danger. I'm going to save you both. Do as I say."
The clear voice entered my mind, but the woman opposite me did not move her lips or teeth at all.
But Solo didn't have time to think about any mysterious or unbelievable phenomena. He nodded hurriedly, his eyes blurred with tears.
“We have a gem, a very valuable ruby, which Sida saw. At the time, a patrolling soldier, one of Uncle In’s men, fought with Sida for the ruby. I killed that soldier with a stone. I don’t know if he’s really dead or if someone else saw it. It seems like the matter has been leaked.”
"Then why didn't you explain more clearly? You only asked me if I wanted the gems. I didn't know they were yours." Qiao Lian'er's tone was tinged with reproach.
“The transaction is entirely voluntary. Miss Shui is our benefactor and friend, and we don’t want to force you.”
Qiao Lian'er sighed inwardly. The overly honest and soft-hearted child almost got himself killed. If they really found a valuable ruby, who else could they sell it to besides her? Selling it to anyone would mean certain death. Without a background or the strength to protect themselves, they would just be fat sheep delivered to her door.
"So when you get to Uncle Yin's place, when he first asks you, you have to stammer and act like you're very reluctant to part with it. Only when he presses you hard will you admit that you really have a gem."
"By the way, where is the gem hidden?"
“It was hidden under the bed where Xida slept. I dug a hole and buried it.”
"Okay, tell Uncle Yin this location."
“But wouldn’t that be giving it to him for nothing? I don’t care if I live a hard life, this is my sister’s only chance to turn her life around.”
"Leave it to me." Qiao Lian'er released his sleeve and patted his shoulder.
But Suo's heart ached as if it were being cut by a knife, yet he steeled his resolve and believed in the Water Maiden.
Once they reached the top of the hill, Qiao Lian'er and Dan Suo bid each other farewell.
But Shuo and the soldiers were no longer visible. Qiao Lian'er put Pei Shijiu into her spatial storage, changed into an invisibility cloak, and teleported to the brother and sister's home.
The door was tightly shut, and the night outside was deep. Xida didn't go to sleep, but paced anxiously back and forth.
My brother was called away tonight, so please make sure nothing happens to him.
