Having worked for these warlords before, I've witnessed countless deaths, but this blatant killing is the first I've ever seen.
Military Governor Zaga raised an eyebrow, just because of a guess that Uncle Yin was going to do such a cruel thing.
"It's not that I'm heartless. I've been here for years, and I recognize every face. If you hadn't been protecting an unrelated outsider and chilling my heart, I wouldn't have done this," Uncle Yin sighed solemnly.
"If you tell me the details about the mountain, I'll let you go back to sleep. But if you insist on going against me and don't treat me like family, there's nothing I can do." Uncle Yin looked very troubled.
With Military Governor Zaga present, he couldn't help but say something, nodding: "Tell me everything you know. I can't force you to say what you don't know. The one who can save your lives now is Uncle Yin, not that Miss Shui."
The villagers kept their heads down and remained silent.
As long as they don't say anything, everything should be fine, right?
It was the arrival of the Water Maiden that gave them hope for life. Today, the Water Maiden even set up a special waste stone selection area for them. When they took the stones home, they found that they were all raw stones worth several taels or more. If they were lucky, they were worth tens of taels. They were extremely grateful.
In their eyes, the Water Maiden was like a goddess who descended to save them from their suffering.
How could they betray her?
Uncle Yin gave another cold laugh. The soldier walked over, randomly selected an aunt in her early forties, raised his machete and slashed at her. The aunt's head flew into the grass in the distance.
The residents were terrified, their faces ashen, and even with their legs bound, they screamed and moved to one side.
“If you still won’t talk, you all want to die here!” Uncle Yin’s adjutant roared.
Having witnessed such a horrific scene twice, the villagers' psychological defenses have been shattered.
A resident crawled over on his knees.
“I’ll say it, I’ll tell you everything.”
“On the mountain of the Water Maiden, there are indeed many valuable stones. Although we have not seen what they look like when they are cut open, based on our basic experience, we can judge that many of them are worth several thousand taels, and some are even worth tens of thousands of taels.”
Uncle Yin narrowed his eyes, and Military Governor Zaga also became interested, his nonchalant expression disappearing.
Having confirmed the answer, Uncle In gave Commander Zaga a victorious look.
“But I sent men to sneak up her mountain and they brought back stones worth at most a thousand taels. Where did she hide those good stones?”
"We really don't know. We've only been working on the mountain and have never been to the warehouse area. We'll probably have to bring some soldiers stationed at the warehouse to ask them."
Uncle Yin stared at him and judged that he was not lying.
He then looked at the other residents, who had the same attitude.
"Release them and arrest a few soldiers." Uncle Yin smiled.
"If you had said so earlier, those two wouldn't have died so tragically. When you go back, you will continue to work for Miss Shui as before. I will contact you if I need anything. As long as you are obedient, everything will be fine."
The villagers helped each other and shivered as they went back home.
"Commander Zaga, what do you think now?" Uncle Yin asked.
Zaga Jundu's mood was different now. Just as the villagers had said, there were many valuable stones buried on the mountain where the Water Maiden lived, and he wanted a share of the spoils.
"Uncle Yin is truly wise. I admire him greatly. That girl really kept it a secret. She almost fooled me. Fortunately, Uncle Yin managed to expose her. I am willing to work with Uncle Yin to conquer those mountains and make a fortune together."
