Chapter 15 Sharing a Room

“This is what I used to draw, but I put it away later. There’s also a special draft paper for drawing design sketches below. Do you think it’s suitable?” Xu Zhaoyue suddenly turned around to ask Yue Lanxing’s opinion. She straightened up and saw Yue Lanxing behind her. Unable to dodge, she bumped her forehead into Yue Lanxing’s shoulder.

Yue Lanxing subconsciously stepped back, but when she realized she needed to comfort him, she remembered that she was allergic to women, so she put her half-raised hand back down.

"Wow, so stiff! Your shoulders are so stiff, how did you train like that? My head is spinning." Xu Zhaoyue rubbed her forehead, complaining, but her tone wasn't harsh; it sounded more like she was being coquettish.

Yue Lanxing thought this was just her imagination again. "Young Miss, I'm sorry, it's my fault, I..."

"Alright, it's alright, what's wrong with this? Can you take a look at these?" Xu Zhaoyue interrupted him, taking a step back so he could take a closer look.

Yue Lanxing held back her words, then nodded and looked at them carefully. "They're much better than I wanted. These will allow me to draw more precise lines and outlines."

"That's good. The balconies in the study and bedroom are the same, so you can draw here. We can use the balcony in the study to measure the dimensions." Xu Zhaoyue patted the table and pointed to the balcony.

Seeing that the young lady had already said so, Yue Lanxing saw no need to refuse. "Of course I can. I'll start drawing now and finish the design by tomorrow at the latest, or even today if things go smoothly."

"This table is for you. I'll read on the sofa. Don't be lazy, I can see everything you do." Xu Zhaoyue took a book from the bookshelf, walked to the sofa by the window, and leisurely began to read.

Yue Lanxing sat down in the chair. To be honest, even the tools that the young lady used before were better than those used by most designers. Yue Lanxing had never seen these before.

He first drew a draft based on the prototype in the sketchbook given by Xu Zhaoyue, and then added Xu Zhaoyue's requirements.

After rejecting several ideas in succession, Yue Lanxing realized the difficulty of the young lady's requests, so he became even more engrossed in his work. Xu Zhaoyue was reading a Russian book. The sun shone through the glass outside, reducing the heat and brightness, making it the perfect time to read.

A gust of wind blew in, and Xu Zhaoyue's hair flew forward, blocking her eyes. She tucked her hair behind her ears with her hand and inadvertently looked up to see Yue Lanxing drawing a draft.

Yue Lanxing sat up straight, and Xu Zhaoyue, sitting on the sofa, could see his entire shoulder. Indeed, a man who is serious about his work is handsome. At this moment, the sunlight shone between the two of them, and Xu Zhaoyue could see a little hazy. After admiring the handsome man for a while, Xu Zhaoyue lowered her head to read her book again.

When she lowered her head and stopped paying attention to Yue Lanxing, Yue Lanxing's shoulders began to slump. He didn't know if it was because Xu Zhaoyue's gaze had been too intense or because Yue Lanxing was too sensitive to being observed by others, but when Xu Zhaoyue looked at him, he noticed and changed his posture.

Two hours passed, and the sunlight outside had moved elsewhere. Xu Zhaoyue lost her mood for reading. She stood up, walked to the table, put the book down, and took a look at how far Yue Lanxing had progressed in her drawing.

"Are my requirements too difficult?" Xu Zhaoyue saw the drafts and could tell that Yue Lanxing hadn't relaxed at all in the past two hours.

Because Xu Zhaoyue was too close, Yue Lanxing's pen suddenly went too deep. "No, I was thinking of adding another curve so that it would be more comfortable to lie down, so I took a little longer to draw it."

Xu Zhaoyue nodded. "You're quite thoughtful. By the way, I'll lay out a blanket, and the small table on top will be a bit higher."

Fortunately, the young lady didn't know that he had made a mistake in his writing. Yue Lanxing breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, I'll fix it again." Only after agreeing did Yue Lanxing have the mind to look at the book that the young lady had put on the table. It was written in a language he couldn't understand.

Xu Zhaoyue noticed his gaze, so she turned the book towards him and asked, "Why are you interested in this book?"

"Young Miss knows so much! I've never seen these characters before." Yue Lanxing shook his head. He couldn't even understand the characters, let alone be interested in them. He could only sigh inwardly, "As expected of the young lady, she knows so much."

"This is Russian. It's normal that you can't understand it because schools don't teach it. The fourth shelf on this bookshelf is full of foreign language books. I couldn't understand them when I was a child either, so I asked my dad why he put these books up there. He said it was to show that he was cultured."

"He even said he could learn foreign languages and teach me after he understood them. But I read them all over before he even learned how to greet foreigners." Xu Zhaoyue looked at the books on the bookshelf and rarely thought of the past.

Yue Lanxing glanced at the fourth floor; the only thing he could understand was English. “Young Miss is really smart. I’ve never seen anyone as capable as her.”

"You're quite impressive too. Xuanxuan said you've been self-studying and have a basic understanding of English. Why didn't you continue your studies? I remember universities only admit working professionals." Xu Zhaoyue asked curiously, as Yue Lanxing's learning ability was not bad.

Looking at Xu Zhaoyue's inquisitive eyes, Yue Lanxing really didn't know what to say. "At first, it was to take care of my family, but after I found a job, I didn't want to go to school anymore. I felt that I was different from the students in school."

"Oh, is that so? That's a real shame. If you had been able to finish your studies, you might have been able to get into the Xu family and work under me. But now you're working under me too, so it's like you're on the same path."
